The area is great for walking and enjoying the view of the skyscrapers touching the sky. I visited chicago on October the weather wasnt warm but it wasnt that cold either. I would recommend walking the full length of the river walk because the views will keep getting better

Unfortunately usually a mess, dirty and needing some TLC.Obviously this gives a pedestrian a good view of the Chicago river. This bridge connects north and south Chicago and is named afterJean Baptiste Point du Sable who established the originalsettlement that became the city of Chicago.

Michigan Avenue Bridge (officially DuSable Bridge) is a double-leaf, double-deck, fixed counterweight, trunnion bascule bridge that carries Michigan Avenue across the main stem of the Chicago River in downtown Chicago. At the time of construction it was believed to be the first double-deck bridge ever built to have roadway on both levels; faster non-commercial traffic using the upper deck and slower commercial traffic that served the various industries and docks in the vicinity of the river using the lower deck.(Sourced from Google)

Michigan Avenue has always been one of my favorite walks in Chicago. But something special happens when you cross this bridge - at least for me. You get to look east and west and see (and feel) the beauty and energy along the Chicago River. You also see the amazing architecture right there - Wrigley Building, Tribune Tower and Trump Tower a short distance away. You begin to realize why this is called the Magnificent Mile, because it is!! This bridge was a significant piece of the vision for Michigan Avenue.

DuSable Bridge is fantastic if you find yourself standing on one side of the river, longing to be on the other side of the river. As far as quality, the bridge appears to be structurally sound, Ive never seen it collapse. Im not an engineer but I imagine this bridge could hold a dozen or even two dozen people without falling down into the river. Five stars.

Had to check out the green Chicago River on St. Patricks weekend! What can I say about the bridge? Well its sturdy, spacious, and most importantly picturesque. A must visit location to really experience downtown Chicago. A lot of friendly people who come to take pictures at this bridge is a common sight. Please try not to jump off of DuSable Bridge, or really any bridge for that matter because that would ruin the ambience and reputation of this beautiful old Chicagoan sight

La
Review №80

The DuSable bridge worked great. We were able to walk across the river without getting wet. 5 stars for a great bridge experience. But seriously, if you look at the sidewalk on the south side of the bridge, you can see embedded markers that show the outline of where Fort Dearborn stood (apparently in the middle of Michigan and Wacker). There are also plaques to commemorate the Chicago fire, the journey to the Mississippi and other historical events so there is a bit of interesting history you can learn here as well as great scenery.
