We visited Crown fountain. And the bean. Crown fountain was everything we expected it to be! My daughter is 8, my son is 2. They slashed and played in the water for hours. The fountain is on until 11:00 PMThe water IS chlorinated. Which is good. We were worried about over crowding but there is plenty of room for everyone. The walls light up with pictures of ppl and about every 10 minutes or so (someone said five but it seems longer) the wall spews water from mouth of the person in the picture. I loved the diversity of races shown at the fountain! My daughter was so excited when she saw “the black girl” lol!Be sure to bring everything you would bring for a visit to a small water park. Sunscreen, towels, change of clothes, swim diaper.. snacks.

My kids loved the water that spews out of the mouth! Get the kids in swimming gear and let them run around in the heat and enjoy the water! Loved that this was a free experience too! Rec getting an Uber!! Parking looks bad this is the heart of downtown Chicago!

One of our favorite spots in Chicago. We take the kids here every summer for a splash and pictures. Its usually open May-October and is one of the top 10 photo locations in the city.Kids played in the water as young as 1 but its usually best for kids aged 2.5+ just because there are so many bigger kids running around. The stone slabs can be a bit slippery so be careful.Lots of food options along Michigan Ave as well as the Park Grill.

Unique artistic fountain! Two face fountains that look at each other. The thing I liked most about the Crown fountain is that the faces that were projected onto the towers were all actual people who lived in Chicago (cool concept, isnt it?). The faces change and then the water spouts out of the pictures mouth. Its beautiful to watch the faces change.Lots of other things to do in the vicinity as well - The bean, millenium park, art institute, etc.

This Fountain is located inside Millennium Park, and it holds a special place in my heart since I went to the opening ceremony of the park when it was opened, I remember following a few priests with incense throughout the park. And ever since I go there to relax, for a walk and even for a drink with my husband. The fountain display different races faces videos showing water coming out their mouths. This place is definitely amusing. I dont like the fact kids go play in the water but hey!! Kids will be kids and thats actually part of this fountains attraction. This place would be so romantic for a first date. My husband takes me there just to have coffee and I find that very romantic.

The Millennium Park in Chicago houses the most iconic landmarks of Chicago. It is a public park located in the Loop community area. Its inception was to celebrate the second Millennium. It houses the state of the art collection of architecture, landscape design and art - also a host to a number of cultural events in the city. And the park is very lively and bustling with people.Excerpts from the official website of the city of Chicago:Designed by Spanish artist Jaume Plensa, the Crown Fountain in Millennium Park is a major addition to the citys world-renowned public art collection. The fountain consists of two 50-foot glass block towers at each end of a shallow reflecting pool. The towers project video images from a broad social spectrum of Chicago citizens, a reference to the traditional use of gargoyles in fountains, where faces of mythological beings were sculpted with open mouths to allow water, a symbol of life, to flow out.Plensa adapted this practice by having faces of Chicago citizens projected on LED screens and having water flow through an outlet in the screen to give the illusion of water spouting from their mouths. The collection of faces, Plensas tribute to Chicagoans, was taken from a cross-section of 1,000 residents. The fountain’s water operate during the year between mid-spring and mid-fall, while the images remain on view year-round.It is okay - not a must visit I would say, yet you could enjoy the water flowing out of the mouth.Cheers to life!!~Journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step! :)

Super fun and unique fountain for kiddos. A splash pad, essentially, and every 10 minutes or so, the giant faces spit water out to all the giggling children. The only think that kept it from 5-stars, was that there was little seating for the amount of people there on a July day, and there were areas near the seating that had standing water that had been there for some time. It was rank. Otherwise, a perfect place to cool off in the heat!

This fountain is great for kids of all ages that want to get wet. There is a mural projected on the walls that you an see spits out a large flow of water that the kids love to stand in front of. The howling at the anticipation of the water being spit out of the projection is hilarious. It was lovely to watch the kids run in and out of the fountain when it came on. The faces of the people on the fountain facade were animated and then the water spurted from their mouth. A relaxing place to watch kids at play in the water.

I should have taken my shoes off to play here for a while, but unfortunately I couldnt as there were time constraints. But would recommend spending time here to enjoy the cool breeze and play around the fountains. Kids will love this place :)Crown Fountain has been one of the most controversial of all the Millennium Park features. Before it was even built, some were concerned that the sculptures height violated the aesthetic tradition of the park. After construction, surveillance cameras were installed atop the fountain, which led to a public outcry (and their quick removal). However, the fountain has survived its contentious beginnings to find its way into Chicago pop culture. It is a popular subject for photographers and a common gathering place. While some of the videos displayed are of scenery, most attention has focused on its video clips of local residents. The fountain is a public play area and offers people an escape from summer heat, allowing children to frolic in the fountains water.(Some info sourced from Google, pictures and review are my own)
