Quick and fun place to ski, never too crowded. When my daughter rolled an ankle, their awesome ski patrol was there in minutes. A quick assessment and we were off to the ER (no breakage). These things happen, and the Staff were superb in their handling of it. All in all, an economical, safe and accessible place to learn to ski.
We love it here. They have hills for beginners and intermediate which is a good fit for our family. Kids love the fire table in the lodge and the food is more reasonably priced than most ski places in the area
Such a great open family environment... Service with gear and hills was great. My wife and I really enjoyed our time there.
I love this soooo much! Snowboarding is my new favorite sport! The only problem is the lift. It was way to fast for almost everone. Other than that is was amazing! Thanks for introducing me to my new favorite sport!
The ski lift moves entirely way to fast. It was not only difficult for my younger son to get on but dangerous. After paying the high prices for the rental equipment and lift ticket prices, the person operating the lift suggested my son “take lessons”. My son has taken lessons, he’s just a smaller person and can’t move as fast as some of the others..
Fun place to go as a family, especially since its not expensive, my son didnt enjoy the thrill of sledding down a big hill and they gave me a refund due to that. The staff was very nice also!
I have been skiing at Dry Hill for many years. Its such a great facility for learning and teaching kids. All my children learned to ski at Dry Hill. Without this local facility they would never had that experience. Sure you can go to a bigger mountain, and as you develope into a better skier you should. But keep in prospective that this facility was the start for many kids and adults to learn, and practice on. I enjoy a few hours at the hill getting some runs in, and watching the kids having a blast. And it gets kids away from the video games and out being active.Tim has done a fantastic job running this facility, and fighting mother nature to keep this place a viable option for local skiing. Thanks Tim and staff for what you provide to our community.
We went there on a family outing with my parents and nieces and nephew. We purchased tubing passes(kind of expensive for the amount of time you got) we were told that my nephew couldnt go down the hill by himself because he was too small(he is 5 and almost as big as my 8 year old neices) so we asked if he could ride down with one of the adults and they said absolutely not that its a NYS law. We get out to the hill and there are kids half his size going down on their own and also kids riding down on their parents lap... so we continued on to have some fun and the staff that was helping people get up the hill and the guy at the top was rude as hell when people were slipping and falling getting off their tubes. Other than this it was fun, would rather spend my money on a different hill for a better experience.
Really nice well kept slopes with freshly fallen snow. Everybody has a great attitude there and the instructor Caitlin was so very patient. I was so happy to have a moment to spend there while I was on a business trip. Make sure you bring cash The snack bar and the other bar does not take cards. They have a lot of equipment to choose from and they also have lockers to store your things in everybody was nice there. Im so happy to have met such a great crew and I recommend that if you are just learning you should definitely take a trip there.
Great place. Both our kids loved it and was hard to get them to leave
We had to update our review. We have a 4 and 6 year old who have both been learning at Dry Hill. This is the second year they have skied here. The staff is top notch. I have been to a lot of resorts East and West and Dry Hill has the most friendly and accommodating staff I have come across. I dont know where they find their instructors who are mostly teenagers, but they always have smiles, are respectful, and great with my kids, who they are picking up time after time for the hour long lessons. The older gentlemen who run the school are awesome. They are looking after both the customers and their young instructors. Great interaction with my kids all around. The staff behind the ticket window are great and helpful at helping you figure out what the best deal is. Even down to the people at the food counter who dont seem like cafeteria staff just there to make through the day. Everyone just seems genuine and happy to be there. I dont really know many places at all like that. If you are a real aggressive skier who wants a lot of challenge this isnt your place. If you are learning to ski, or just want to get some uncrowded runs in do not pass over Dry Hill.
Lives this place. First time up north and being at a ski lodge and loves the atmosphere of this place. Very family friendly, service is great and the instructor that taught me how to snowboard was the best. After the hour lesson I had you get a lift ticket that’s good for the rest of the day. Definitely a great experience and would recommend to my family and co workers as well.
This is our first time here. We went to a birthday party which was great. We felt it was a great price for what you got. The owners were very friendly. The lodge has a big fire place with a bar for the adults. It also serves food that was pretty good. We went tubing but will come back again to try the skiing out. The hills look to be intermediate but looks like a great safe place to bring family for skiing and tubing. They also have lessons and rental with some decent prices. Very friendly place, will come again. The staff was also very friendly and accommodating!
Nice little ski lodge. The hill is pretty good. Its not the place a pro would go to find a challenge, but its fun for everyone else. The staff were great. The rental equipment staff were awesome. They fixed the board that I rented from outdoor recreation on FT Drum and didnt charge me for it. They were like, oh hell no and fixed it for me. They didnt really say that, its just the look they put on. They were great. During a white out, I went into the lodge area and tried an East Coast Amber. It was the best Amber Ive had since my days working on the docks in Alaska back in highschool. The fish sandwich is great too. I would recommend this place to friends and family.
Shredded some sweet pow pow brah. Friendly staff, hills are steep, and snow is white.
This place is so much fun for the price would definitely recommend it
Worst place to go. Way overpriced. Dont take care of trails. The family that owns and operates are horrible people. Would not recommend spending any of your money there. I wanted to give 0 stars they just wont let me
Decent prices, decent food, and family friendly atmosphere. Will return and would absolutely recommend others to go.
Very rustic location, but also a bit as busy and hectic as other ski locations. We just took the kids for the downhill sledding and they had a great time. Not much for non-skiing adults to do while we waited for the kids
My body hurts. But pretty fun.
Great time. Conditions were excellent.
Great staff! Very friendly and helpful!
Great place to bring your whole family! Tim has been a hard working owner since I was a young girl and has always put his customers first. He and his staff work hard to keep this local gem afloat - beautiful scene and a nice atmosphere to be around! Fun skiing and tubing - bar has a great vibe too! So glad Mother Nature gave you this gift of snow Tim - the Watertown Community is behind you.
Dry Hill is a superb family friendly ski area with excellent lake effect snow coverage. Generations of skiers have learned to ski with the friendly ski hill.Dry Hill isn’t huge, but the terrain is challenging and the snow quality is consistent. On weekends it is filled with families. Night skiing is a bonus. If you are looking for a locally owned ski hill to spend an affordable day at, Dry Hill is a great choice.
Wonderful place to ski with reasonable rates. The staff are hardworking and very helpful. It has a warm and friendly atmosphere. Great place for a family outing.
Amazing staff! Good place to learn and ski/ride!
It is what it is; a nice little hill to ski on that is close by. The ski lift is a little fast for beginners but the slope isnt too challenging when conditions are good. I would recommend it.
Nice local spot. Enjoyed bringing my family here. Staff was very helpful and friendly for my wife and kids first time skiing.
Perfect place to learn how to snowboard. I really enjoyed myself and I think theres plenty of space to have lots of fun on my board.
Great experience. Strongly recommend for a family outing. Very friendly and accommodating staff. Instructors are knowledgeable and friendly.
Horrible representation of how a local business owner should act, acting our as a very immature child is just disgusting. Numerous reports of the owner sending messages to previous customers and harassing them along with, banning them due to social media rights, free speech is allowed and none of which was offensive towards the owners or business. I would rather go to another state than give this business my money. Extremely sad and disappointing.Reply:Multiple photos have been showing much different sides. The way you treat your customers not allowing freedom of speech is absolutely unacceptable, being a prior service member, and living most my life in Watertown I would absolutely hate to be a employee. I also review many businesses and never have I had such a immature and rude response. I hope my review will help any individual who has pride in our basic rights to go anywhere other than this area. Thank you for the response.
Fantastic skiing Tonite. No lift lines. Fast.snow. delightful family atmosphere
Great family ski area with a cozy bar. Tubing is awesome as well. Good hill for first time skiers.
Nice placê to ski. They have a nice lodge and great food.
This was my first time to Dri Hill this past weekend.. my cousin and I decided we wanted to go snow tubing. Dri Hill was the closest location to Kingston, ON. We decided we would do the 5-10PM tubing pass. Our experience was great! I thought the price was very reasonable ($16US for the pass/ person). There was a good amount of parking and the place was packed. There is a nice bar at the front as you pull in with an indoor fire place. They have a rentals area and a snack bar in the back. The staff was GREAT!! Sara and Quinton were AMAZING and very people friendly! I would definitely recommend this place and we will defiantly be back! This only small thing I did not like was the bar and snack area were cash only (unsure about the rentals).. we were able to pay with debit/ credit for the tickets. There is a debit machine onsite.
Ive loved Dry Hill Ski Area for decades. Its only improved under the McAtees ownership and has been a nonstop labor of love for them. If you like to ski and are near Watertown, NY in the Winter, Dry Hill is the best time you can have outside, day AND NIGHT - yup, they have night skiing! Its small, but they do the best possible job with what Mother Nature has provided.
Good for a quick afternoon ski if you live in the area. Definitely not a destination though. Would not be my main spot.
Feels like everyone is family. My two boys 6yr & 8yr) and i had ski lessons today (amazing price) with Heather and Marge, it was wonderful and my and i lived the 2hr lesson. Great for military families.
A nice, small ski lift/snow boarding and tubing experience. Great for getting out on a boring winter weekend.
I dont understand why the owners of Dry Hill get such bad reviews suddenly. Give them a break, they just went through a rather traumatic experience. Theyve been operating this place for over 30 years and will get through the situation.Little tidbit many may not know about. When I was in the Oswego County SAR Team I contacted Dry Hill if I could use their land to train my dog in Area Search. They did not hesitate to give me permission during the off season which is why I love this place, even though I cannot go out there for winter sports since I am no longer mobile enough.
If youre looking for beginner slopes with a cheap price and very easy access, then Dry Hill is perfect for you.
Staff was friendly and the snow was perfect for skiing, snowboarding, and tubing. The bar area has a nice fire inside to sit around and warm up. The foosball was also fun and they have quite a few tabs so you can watch sports while you relax. Beer selection was good and reasonably priced and the staff was friendly and through with ID checks. Will definitely be back for another visit!
Nice little Mountain, low cost comfy lodge with snack bar. Stopped by with my 10yr old for a few runs while driving home to Rochester and it was great. Wish we had something like this closer to home.
Hill is well-groomed...just watch out for the snow-boarders
The owners wife banned me for posting r.i.p dh on the Facebook page after I noticed the place was on fire the other day, and told me to go to snow ridge witch I will. Don’t go here if you dont want to pay 40 dollars for a lift ticket you’ll have to wait in line for, for 45 mins just to take a 10 second rip down a tiny hill for beginners.
Have been to ski and tube many times. Always a great time with family and friends!
Very fun place. Staff was kind and funny. Very cold but thats what you can expect. Overall nice place. Fun and enjoyable.
I’m only going to say this once. I have gone to dry hill my whole life and my mom since she was 12. My parents know the owners and are very very very upset with how a grown woman goes out of her way to message and ban someone for saying RIP on his OWN Facebook page because he saw the fire and thought the place was going to be down for the season. A normal honest business owner would take that as a grain of salt and move on, or if felt the need to message someone say hello no we are still up and running and when we get some real snow come on down and see for yourself, we’d love you to continue to help out business grow especially now. There are many many many pictures of the owners comments and messages that have been shown and it shows very poor on the owners part. You do not verbally attack someone due to comments they cannot control. I will be taking my business elsewhere and I’m very sorry and saddened by this. Also to say he is recruiting his friends is a very bad assumption on your part, he never once told them to do any of that and can not control what they do or say, and that shows very poor ownership so please recheck yourselves.
Went with my husband. We took lessons. I loved that the instructors didnt give up on me lol eventually I got a little better. Well worth the money to have this lifetime memory.
Friendly staff, cozy lounge, had a great time! Prices are pretty good, too. Its a great place to take the family or have a date day
Nice for a smaller hill ski slope. They have a couple of ski lifts, and a snow tubing section with its own lift. The lounge area has a huge fire pit and bar that serves some good beer.
This is my favorite place to ski every day in the winter. I ski here most days after school. The pace is 5 mints from home.
Yeah, RIP DH. Not the best way to approach a customer. Owners are rude, do not recommend.
Nice family friendly atmosphere and ski hill. Nice fireplace in bar area; wish there was a fireplace in the grill area.
Its ok. They have 2 main hills. Theres a third hill thats rarely ever open. It gets old real quick and not really worth what they charge. If you have your own skis or snow board and only go for a couple hours its worth it.
Great Ski area for the whole family. Tons of fun!!
Been skiing here for years. Great to have in the area.
Family friendly ski slope perfect for learning on or teaching your kids how to ski. Low prices! But bring your own lunch!
Great little hill to learn how to ski on! Not much to offer for advanced skiers.
Very nice bar area with a big fireplace and full front of Windows for viewing the ski slope.
Lots of fun and really helpful staff I recommend going during a day that the snow is more powdery (for beginners) otherwise youll slideon the ice like crazy
Was this once called Scotch Valley?
Nice spot for amateur skiers like us. Staff was friendly and helpful.
Great local palace to ski snowboard and tubbing. This place has it all from lessons rentals bar atm concessions. The staff at dry hill as always eager to help.
Great ski and snowboarding resort. The staff is great and the instructors did an amazing job
Great pricing for all the activities. Friendly and helpful staff.
Fantastic fun location for the whole family
Great place for families and to practice before you hit the big slopes!
Great place to ski snowboard and go tubing highly recommend to those who do those.
Love this place..so much fun
Overpriced and owners will go out of their way to personally message you on Facebook if you say ANYTHING bad about the place
Its a convenient local place to go. Its affordable and we live going there after work on a whim.
Perfect place for a date night with the spouse! Easy skiing, nice place to take a break in the lounge by the fire and enjoy a drink!
We have a season pass here to just hang out but other than chilling its a amazing place to learn to ski!
It was alot of fun.
My family, friends and myself will be going to SNOW RIDGE. Thanks, Deb. Rest in piece dry hill (:
Great winter fun and convenient location
Great spot to practice. Affordable.
Great place for beginners and very reasonably priced.
Great place to learn how to bring the family and learn to ski.
Great place. Wish they did stuff in summer
Snow tubing on a 40 degree day is FAST!
Small, but local and cheap. Decent for beginners
I love Dry Hill. Its not the biggest, but for a quick afternoon session or some Saturday morning powder, you just cant beat it!
Nice small ski resort.
Great value for being a local ski area. I wish they would not cut their February hours our of policy but rather adapt them to the actual weather conditions.
Immature owners who harras customers via social media.
Nice family friendly facility. I like the fireplace in the lounge.
There small was there today February 18th stood in line for a hot cocoa for 5 mins than step up to order it and the girl skipped me and went to the kids that just stepped up bad customer service! !!
Nice family owned ski facility
Great if youre military its just like being at work you get yelled at except here you have to pay.
Terrible experiences with the owners making rude comments to customers
Fun!!
