The EEOB is such a huge and imposing building on the way to the White House if you happen to be on a DC tour. Just viewing it from afar gives you a sense of history about the administrative operation of the National Capital. Considered a Natural Historic Landmark, its worth a visit. Divided opinion regarding architectural aesthetics. The facade could be impressive or ugly depending on your perspective and sense of design.
Went on a tour. giant and fancy. stairs are super cool, and on the different doors there are different symbols on different doorknobs because it used to be for 3 different departments:war, navy, and state. all awesome. also cool when you see secret service people.
This building is so amazing on the interior. The librarys and offices are highly decorative! Although its not open to the general public. The Truman bowling alley is located in the basement of this building. Many of the offices serve to support the Executive Office of The President and Vice President to name a few.
Not public building but still architecturally interesting...a bit.
Interesting building. I was there during the administration change. Interesting to see who was in the building
Located right next to the West Wing with historic and quaint architecture... A sight to behold for the historian️
Fun fact: they have a really good cafe there.
When in the area, it is worth the time to walk around the Executive Office Building. Imposing architecture and such a contrast to the White House. If you are up for it, walk around all the monuments around the Mall as well.
Beautiful building
Very beautiful building lots of detail. Parking is hard so I recommend take the metro.
I would consider this the most beautifully symmetrical building in DC. Its so fascinating to look at that it makes you stop and stare.
Very nice. Cat enjoyed the lawn. No Eisenhower though! Be on the lookout and let me know.
Just historical vibes
This is my favorite building in Washington DC the architecture is truly unique a French Revival Style if you ever get a chance to go inside you should its super cool one of my favorite interior aspects of the building are the stained glass windows over the stairwells and the hardware on the doors and the fireplaces are either Navy or Army themed since it was the Naval and War department when it was originally constructed.
Everything in DC is so well done. Had a privilege of a private tour here and felt pretty in awe of the history of DC and our country. That’s the drawer of the Vice President’s desk with all of their signature below. It certainly personalizes our leaders seeing things like that. Contact you local representative to see if you can get in to experience this massive and beautiful building.
The Eisenhower Executive Office Building is located on W. Executive Avenue located near to the White House. Built in the 1870-80s in French Second Empire style, it is an architectural masterpiece and registered national Historic Landmark. It is a large complex to view from the outside while sightseeing in the area.Today, the majority of the offices for White House staff are located at Eisenhower Executive Office Building. As such, it appears to not open for visitation. Just have a walk along W. Executive Ave. and enjoy the stately and imposing facade of the building. Standing across the street, you can take nice pictures of the building with a blue sky.
Beautiful building!
This building is very beautiful inside and outside.
VB your the one for me VB is the best thing VB your the one for me
One of the finest federal buildings.
Wow! So close to White House. Beautiful old building.
The Star Spangled BannerOh, say can you see by the dawns early lightWhat so proudly we hailed at the twilights last gleaming?Whose broad stripes and bright stars through the perilous fight,Oer the ramparts we watched were so gallantly streaming? And the rockets red glare, the bombs bursting in air,Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there.Oh, say does that star-spangled banner yet waveOer the land of the free and the home of the brave?

The Eisenhower Building is also called the Wedding Cake Building by DC locals because the outside looks like a wedding cake. Its one of DCs best architectural designs and it houses the more administrative positions serving the White House. If you have a friend who works at the White House, they probably work here. The inside isnt as fancy as the outside since its just rows and rows of offices, but you can get a tour if you are on a White House West Wing tour.
Come see what Mark Twain called, the ugliest building in America. The Eisenhower Executive Office Building now houses a majority of the White House staff and the Vice President. Like an ugly Christmas sweater, it is hard to look away.In fairness, the Eisenhower Building looks like dozens of building in Paris, though a bit out of place here. Check it out when you see the White House. There is almost no nearby parking so take a bus or Uber. This building was so hated that shortly after it was completed, the architect committed suicide. Seriously.
This building is beautiful and symmetrical from all sides which is a treat to eyes. Good place to take pictures with a good and historical architecture.
Awesome place 17 years time for completion
The Eisenhower Executive Office Building (EEOB)—formerly known as the Old Executive Office Building (OEOB) and even earlier as the State, War, and Navy Building—is a U.S. government building situated just west of the White House in the U.S. capital of Washington, D.C. Maintained by the General Services Administration, it is occupied by the Executive Office of the President, including the Office of the Vice President of the United States.Located on 17th Street NW, between Pennsylvania Avenue and State Place, and West Executive Drive, the building was commissioned by President Ulysses S. Grant. It was built between 1871 and 1888, on the site of the original 1800 War/State/Navy Building[3] and the White House stables, in the French Second Empire style. While the building exterior received substantial criticism at first, it has since been designated as a National Historic Landmark. It was for years the worlds largest office building, with 566 rooms and about ten acres of floor space. Many White House employees have their offices in the EEOBIn 1802, the Washington Jockey Club lay at the rear of what is now the site of Decatur House at H Street and Jackson Place, crossing Seventeenth Street and Pennsylvania Avenue to Twentieth Street—today the Eisenhower Executive Office Building—having been completed only four years earlier in 1798, as the stonemasons had finished the brick and painters applied white paint to the Presidents House
Very impressive building with a very interesting history. Definitely worthwhile visiting If you get the opportunity and the Secret Service lets you in!
Incredible bldg!! Massively impressive. I would love to go inside and see it!
A great place
Beautiful building to look at, probably one of the best-looking buildings in the city. However, civilians are not allowed inside, as it is home to members of the Executive Branch.
Beautiful architecture
Magnificent edifice.
Very impressive architecture, very huge building appears quiet as though nothing is happening inside.
The architecture is amazing to look at but it was closed off from visitors
A very beautiful and highly secured place. I attended the first ever White House Briefing for Social Work Education hosted by Council for Social Work Education and the White House Office of Public Engagement.
Cool view.
The architecture of the Eisenhower Executive Office Building is of an unusual beauty. It does not look like the other main Washingtons buildings.
