Thought users of Google Maps might want to see some old photos of the C & O Canal and related structures. Many of these photos I am posting are from Civil War era (including Mathew Brady/Levin Handy, Library of Congress) to early 20th century. The photos were compiled in the book, Chesapeake & Ohio Canal, Old Picture Album by Thomas F. Hahn. Lock 1, C&O Canal Towpath..... Right In the middle of Georgetown....

Due to the construction it was hard to find Lock 1, but it was worth the search and detours.
