So editing my initial post to reflect current status of stay. while we initially had a very poor start the general manager reached out to us personally almost immediately after posting my review we voice our concerns and were met with a good response we were able to change our room to a room properly prepared and clean and are much happier. This leads me to believe that this was most likely a went off incident and not the common trend for this place. location is great and has a good view and is well located within the Virginia Beach main drive. Lots of restaurants and storefronts readily available and not too far a drive from the mall or the local navy bases.

We didnt stay here but got to enjoy their pool because we stayed at a sister resort.... Ocean Keys... and their pool was not available.We called in the morning to make reservations and came in the afternoon. The pool area was lovely and apparently newly remodeled.Everything was very nice. The process was easy and area very clean.I loved their priority on safety and that only a few people were allowed in the pool area at a time. It was a very nice experience for us and the kids and we were thankful for the way they made the pool available safely.A great addition to our little get away during such crazy times.

We are staying here as part of a promotion, so you definitely cant beat the price. The view is great. Good location near 22nd street close to the action. The one-bedroom suite is small, but the layout is efficient and you get two truly separate rooms with a closing door in between, which is great, because Im working part of the time. The bed is comfortable. Downsides would be that the place is older; for example, the carpet and bathroom could use updating. The toilet seat doesnt stay up, because the toilet is recessed under a ledge. The toilet is the small round kind versus elongated. We reported a maintenance issue last night and havent heard back about it. The front desk clerk didnt tell us that the pool is available by appointment (We found out at the sister resort.). But all in all, I would recommend it. The kitchenette itself would make it worth it for a small family.

Great views, older location so we could hear several things in rooms next to us, sounds in hallway, cleaning and moving of furniture upstairs, and the bed was more of a full size vs queen. Smoke was also able to be smelled on our room floor and the hallways though clean, smelled off. Overall, an ok stay.

Virginia Beach is wonderful! Excellent for get away. Ocean Sands Resort is great and in a great location. Family fun even during Covid season. We took extra Lysol spray.

Very convenient location but leaves so much to be desired. 2 stars at best. Our room was on the first floor which was great since there is only a brick patio just steps from the boardwalk. The room was not clean to my standards. Hair in the sink and shower, I wiped everything with clorox wipes upon arrival and they were FILTHY!! We had 2 kids, 2 & 4, requested a vacuum because crumbs but was given a broken POS. It didnt work. Asked for another to no avail. Asked again next day and did receive a little better one that did the job but smelt horribly. Had a little one have an accident on the bed, asked for a new blanket and sheets for the Queen size bed only to be given sheets only for the pull out couch. Didnt realize until later no blanket was given. Called at 7pm and was told she didnt have one and would get someone to bring it down. Called at 830 she said it was coming. NEVER got it. Went to the desk early the next morning furious and didnt get the correct sheets and blanket until 12pm although the lady that delivered was so sweet and apologized and was very helpful. We also killed two roaches which was the last straw for me. It was the worst customer service Ive experienced in a hotel setting. We ended up leaving and booking at the Turtle Cay and it was FANTASTIC!Also, You reserve a 30 min spot for swimming and depending on how crowded, you might be able to go twice. Hot tub was closed due to executive order. The pool attendants did not wipe off chairs or handles or even the tables before next family came so was kind of pointless to limit usage if youre going to play on phone/computer instead of disinfect and keep patrons safe.Place has a lot of potential and needs some training in customer service and cleanliness ESPECIALLY during a PANDEMIC.

Victoria Watts, first the staff were very helpful. The room was very, very clean an roomy. We loved to walk out on our deck to sit with a drink an watch the ocean view. Their downstairs bar was nice to sit while eating a watch all the people go by. Very nice vacation. Would definitely go back.

Stayed for 3 days with no issues. Accommodations were better than I had anticipated, staff was attentive and Covid precautions/safeguards was well in place. Will no doubt consider coming back for another stay.

Room and property was clean. Easy access to beach. Nice balcony view. My only negative is the early checkout. I had a late flight but was never able to get confirmation that I could check out late.

You cant beat this resort for location, value, or service. Unit was sparkling clean. Brian, Heather, Sean, and everyone else at the resort that we encountered were so friendly. Awesome stay!

This place is great! Great location, reasonably priced, private ocean front balcony, suits with full kitchen, and a comfortable bed. Also, our suite had a Pure Wellness system which made the air quality in the room very nice.

Experience was great, perfect views of ocean, staff was polite. Only issue was last day there pool was closed due to maintenance issues.

We first checked in and the room was disgusting and had white plaster all over the rooms tables, there was a smell to the room, so I called front desk and they not only moved us to a different room but they took off one nights worth of the total price. They handled it the way I would have, if I were managing an establishment like this. Many people travel a long ways to come here, my drive was 3 hours to meet my girlfriend. So you can imagine the horror I felt when I walked into the first room. Im very happy with the staff, they have been super friendly. I may have over reacted a little bit when I first got into the room but I was exhausted from the drive and they kept calm, and handled my high strung attitude accordingly and with high respect. This will be where she stays everytime she comes to visit me from now on. The suites are large, they have jacuzzi tubs, pull out couch bed in the first room, with a window looking into the master room, which is big and has a balcony thats beautiful to look down on the boardwalk. I was shocked at these guys. But sometimes, you have to speak up if you dont want people to take advantage of you.

Nice view! The kids had fun and enjoyed the pool. Staff was helpful and nice. The only down side is that the rooms are alot smaller than advertised. But overall if its just a family of 3 or 4 to would be fine if you like small quarters or dont plan on doing alot of activities in the room.

I really enjoyed our stay at the Ocean Sands. The front desk attendant was welcoming and helpful. The rooms were small but perfect for the two of us. There was a living area with couch, table seating for 4, and a kitchen. The separated bedroom had a very comfortable bed, ocean front balcony, and great AC! Even the bathroom impressed with the jetted tub, soap, and shampoo dispensers. The water pressure was nice.The pool area was amazing! Big pool with basketball, hot tub, and sauna. Clean. Expansive views, water in hot tub and pool was perfect. Towels were also a good size.There were activities at the resort like painting, and a bus tour. There were also games in the pool area to borrow.

They were practicing all current covid19 rules and the rooms were of good size and well maintained. Beach is out the back door or view from your balcony.

The place is being fix as of right now. Owners need to listen the Couch Sleepers need to buy thetop Mattresse not Cheapthe Beds also need to bemuch better! No AC in hallways. Very limited AC in room. Clean. Pool closed early because no employees were available to monitor. Free hand sanitizer. Not sure how this is a resort. Dated hotel. Nice staff.

The rooms at Ocean Sands Resort have Beachfront Views which is so nice to wake up to! The staff here are all friendly and I was here all week! Their pool complex is on the 6th Floor and is really a great area to hang out in their outdoor patio there along with the pool and jacuzzi! There is a bar type restaurant onsite with Virginia Beach Boardwalk patio seating; which is a must! They also have a nice workout room and arcades. Opposite to the beach from the Main Entrance are many shops, activities and a Electric Trolley to ride in case you dont want to walk ($4.50 all day pass). I must say Virginia Beach is noisy with all their equipment cleaning the beach and picking up garbage. Not much on waves here but you will see many dolphins fairly close to the shore, that is why you cant go out too far because it is deeper. Lifeguards on Duty during regular beach hours. Different types of Tour Boats are available and normally run $21. Virginia Aquarium is close by and can even take the Trolley to get there, though they do have free parking. Loved going there just to see the Sea Turtles. So for the view of the Atlantic Ocean, Boardwalk and Ocean Sands Resort I would definitely come back here!

This is my favorite hotel in VA Beach. All rooms are beach front. The customer service is excellent. Autumn is very polite, knowledgeable, and attentive. She goes above and beyond to assist with questions and any issues. The resort is also very clean. Leroy took on the extra steps to keep the bathrooms extra clean with covid concerns. OSR has a great staff!!!

The obvious best part of staying here can be seen in the pictures: the view. This is the view from the bedroom, which means youre also falling asleep to the sounds of the ocean, which is so peaceful and calming. The not so obvious best parts are the excellent condition of the rooms, having a full kitchen with plates and cutlery at your disposal, hot water that never needed time to warm up, and the friendly greetings from the staff every time I left or came back. The only bad part of staying here is that eventually you have to leave. I was here on the off-season, so I cant say much about the local entertainment, but the beach is well taken care of, and if you need a nice place to eat nearby, check out Abby Road around the corner. The aquarium down the street is a nice family afternoon outing too. Would 100% stay again without question.

This was a good hotel right on the beach. Direct acces to the boardwalk and beach. Hotel was clean and the staff was very nice. Would definitely stay here again.

We own our timeshare, just never use it often enough. Clean facility, awesome staff. Our week there was the best. Watching the sunrise was meditative, took you to another place. Seeing the dolphins and hearing the waves was a relaxing experience.

Being a world traveler, I have experienced a large variety of accommodations. This past weekend my family and I stayed at the Ocean Sands Resort. My room and oceanfront view were spectacular. Daphne and her team went the extra mile to ensure our stay was perfect. They even remember the extra pillows I requested during my confirmation call with India. I highly recommend Ocean Sands Resort....if you want 5 star treatment!!!

Beware. This resort is VERY noisy. The walls are so thin that when the alarm went off one morning in the next room over, I checked my own phone thinking it was mine!The room was very dingy and could have been more clean, but for the price I paid going during the off-season, it was tolerable.The view and location were great and my interactions with staff were alright.I was repeatedly called the morning after checking in to be invited to an open house. I feel as though when I didn’t answer the first time, I should not have been disturbed further unless it was important. (I didn’t answer until I was finally fed up with being woken up by the phone.)All together, I would probably stay again if not for the noise factor. It was a huge deal breaker for me. I should not be able to hear conversations so clearly that it’s like my neighbors are standing right next to me. More than once if someone was talking in the hallway, I had to honestly wonder if someone had made it into my room.

Stay away from this place! The rooms are filthy! They try to camouflage the dirt with deodorizing spray! First room burned our eyes and noses, had to change room! The second room had fingerprint writing on the mirror in front room! It still smelled dirty! They charge housekeeping fees for dirty rooms! We had to change hotel!

Rooms were great LOVED the jacuzzi in the bath tub! Great location and fantastic customer service I will definitely be back!

Positive: The hotel has hard floors instead of old, wet carpet like most beach hotels. There was plenty of room for our family. Negative: The only negative was the pressure of the water was SO LOW we could hardly rinse the sand off ourselves or out of the shower.

The one bedroom suite is small, but well maintained and perfect for 2. The indoor pool was wonderful! So warm. Its in a really good location with lots of shops and restaurants within walking distance. Will definitely visit again.

All of the rooms are beach front with a BEAUTIFUL view.

Full kitchen. Many local eateries close as well as a place to buy groceries and a Walgreens. Nice room overall.

The room we have is very nice with a jacuzzi tub. Spacious living room. There is a pullout couch in this room and then a separate bedroom. Nice kitchen area as well! Very clean. Nicely decorated. We will be staying here again.

The hotel did appear to be clean however with the COVID virus I did choose to disinfect myself for safety purposes. The issues and concerns with this property were endless and certainly not reflected in the advertisment. I would recommend that Expedia disassociate itself from this property! NOTHING worked the way it was supposed to. It was extremely disappointing as I specifically choose this hotel for its amenities. We ended up moving to 3 different rooms before we finally got one with a working jetted tub. The fridge was not cold in 2 of the 3 rooms=spoiled milk=unfrozen ice and freeze pops. There is no oven so dont be fooled but the fully equipped kitchen advertisment. The microwave and the dishwasher did not work. The balcony flooded and we had our own personal pool out there because the water would not drain. We were unable to use the balcony :-(. Our toilet over-flooded with feces in it!? That was fun. None of the door keys worked causing us to have to go up and down the stairs or elevator several times just to access our room. At one point I went back to the reception 3 times before we were able to actually enter our room. There is no AC in the halls or elevator. The heat along with the mandatory mask made me feel like I was gonna pass out while going up and down and moving from room to room. Not exactly what I had planned for vacation!!! My kids were cranky and uncomfortable throughout these ordeals.These are the highlights. Theres actually more...

The customer service was amazing, the parking is a breeze and very accomodating. The cleanliness of the lot, the floors, the lobby is super. Our room was immaculate and done so well. I loved the sleep, the vide from the room is amazing!!!The pool area would be so fun in the Summer and we really enjoyed it and the jacuzzi. The hours are great, the linens throughout the hotel are plush (made me want to upgrade). The location is excellent! A hop and skip from food places, an arcade and ON the BEACH!!!! This is our new family stay-cation place.

Dead center of the boardwalk right on the beach awsome balcony views close enough to the chaos but quiet.... floors could have been cleaner but i clean so once i smashed the floors i was good, pool could use some work.

The resort is under construction and there is absolutely nothing posted about it online or at property, staff didnt even inform us at check-in. Parking is so limited, its almost non existent, only available to 2nd level (assuming due to reno) The hallways are hot and muggy. All of the doors SLAM. Im really confused now of why we were charged so much including resort fee on top of none of the amenities being available not just or only because of COVID-19 but due to construction.

I will start with the positives. Over all the place is pretty comfortable And has potential to be very nice. Its in a great location in the middle of the boardwalk. The housekeeping needs to do much better and pay attention to details. We stayed in an updated/renovated Room. The furniture was very very dirty, the arms of the chairs were Brown with dirt. The sofa bed was beyond uncomfortable. They need to do way way way better on that period! A very poor nights sleep will instantly make you want to stay somewhere else. The ceiling fans were covered in black dust. We had house keeping come and clean the fans as soon as we got there. You could barely tell they were cleaned afterwards. The tables and lamps in the living Room are loose and wobbly you cant set a drink on them because the table will lean to the side. just poor maintenance.

Great place to stay 5/5. Great views. Located a couple feet from the board walk which is actually made of very smooth concrete. Boardwalk is skateboard, rollerblading, and bike friendly or just a great place to go for a walk. The beach front is well maintained.

Before deciding to stay here I had read the posts about all the upgrades to modernize the hotel including the rooms. Everything looked freshly painted with new flooring, appliances and furnishings. The one bedroom was comfortable for two people. The swimming pool area with hot tub was nice on the 6th floor. It had side windows and what looked like a retractable glass roof. Each unit faces the beach and has a balcony which overlooks the blacktop boardwalk used for walking with a separate parallel bike path. The staff was very helpful and took care of my concerns.

Last minute booking and Ms. Daphne was able to make it happen. She not only went out of her way to get us a suite but she was super quick getting back to us with confirmations. Room was clean, view was amazing, staff were friendly, overall phenomenal experience.

The air conditioner was very clunky and loud. The pictures look nicer than it really is. Location is pretty good and theres free parking. The bar downstairs is way overpriced. No direct access to beach - must go out the side entrance or through the bar which is inconvenient.

Excellent customer service, Keys kept deactivating... little frustrated by that, but overall... Nice

We go to VA beach, ocean sands resort every year, and its just as comfortable, clean and friendly enviroment as it would be at home. We are at home we were are Ocean Sands resort

I come here because it has become my home away from home and I dont have to travel far to get there. Improvements are happening and I see it each time I come. The staff is great and am super thankful for those who work behind the scene every day and night. Prayerfully Ill be able to continue to enjoy going there for years to come

Had a great weekend! Right on the beach. Near good eateries. Just off the road into town. Parking garage, Pool, jacuzzi, and a proper Finnish Sauna. Helpful staff, and clean rooms! All suites are ocean front and have a balcony. So why only 4? Well, I’d like it to have 4.25 but the state of this aging facility can’t get more than that. There were just too many issues with the structure to give it a 5. Don’t get me wrong, I’ll definitely go back. The deal we got for our February weekend was great. But the aging building just can’t get more than a 4.25.

Needs to be renovated and upgraded. Got a nice little bar and grill they dont even talk about. Johnny the guy that runs it is very pleasant easy to talk to. The heating air conditioning unit comes on and it sounds like a a small plane or roller coaster about to take off we changed rooms because of that and found out the 2nd one was even louder..

Very friendly staff, very clean, nice warm pool, hot tub, activities daily for both kids and adults, exercise room, etc. It has a condo feel with motel amenities - highly recommend for anyone who is looking to stay in the area.

WE had a great week. And our rooms were clean and adequate.I am an owner. As an owner of 2 units. It seems that my share at 310 is an orphan. The Refrigerator is bent, dented and scratched in several places. The dishwasher came from a dump. The bottom is falling.And my units 310 & 311. Did NOT get the ceiling fan upgrade or the new cabinets and appliances that are displayed in the new advertisement.. I thought we all paid the same amount. SO WHATS UP WITH THAT Joanne Chicco

The staff was the only thing that saved this from getting no stars. The rooms werent very clean, the tub released mold from the jet system (without it being started) while my son was in it. I wouldnt recommend staying here.The pool was warm and they have pool toys there for kids. The person working the pool area was amazing and gave my son a floty to play with when we were swimming. She was super awesome.

Me and my girl stayed her for 2 days it was amazing best hotel ever and the two lady’s at the front desk where very nice and friendly when you walk by the front desk they would always greet you

So far its great, rooms are ocean front and pretty reasonable at 90$ a night. Including oven,full fridge, great parking! This is only 2nd day here, still have 5 more to go. Ill update if anything chges.

Not my standard of hotel at all starting with the roaches... The beach facing rooms where okay.. However for the cost Id pay a little more and get much more.

Stay away!The units are outdated, the AC is extremely loud and only covers one room. You can hear your neighbors as if they were in the room with you. The safe did not work. The technician came and worked for 30 minutes, trying to repair it with no luck. And the worst of all, my vehicle was vandalized while parked in their garage. The staff did not care at all. I checked the crime statistics for this hotel and it is not the first time it happened. They should have invested a few hundred dollars on a basic security camera system (or hired a security guard) to protect their guests and their vehicles. Not a safe location! I would never go back!

It was very run down looking. The carpets were filthy. The ceilings were torn out on the floor my in laws were staying on when I came to visit. The staff was very nice though.
