Wooo we did this VIRTUALLY for our Hershey Sales Team and we had so much fun solving the “Kidnapping” room with our group of 4! Thank you to our Game Host - it was as if we were there live!!!!
REALLY FUN & MORE INTRICATE THAN I EXPECTED. We went as a family of four (12 & 14 yrs teens). We DID finish with only 1.5 minutes to spare. We had never done one of these before, but I had done escape rooms on my phone. I was expecting lots of locks and puzzles which they had, several of which were very complicated. Our room ended up being 3 rooms in one. There were even actions that caused things to happen. Our guiding voice (Channing) was good at giving helpful tips but only when we really needed them. She did just enough to keep us from getting too frustrated. Everything was Covid clean. I would TOTALLY do this again. You even get a fun free digital photo at the end.
Good, clean fun. The activities challenged our group, but we were successful.
A fantastic escape room experience--so good we (2 people) did 2 rooms in one day. On arrival, we were greeted and signed waivers on tablets. The waiting room is inviting and clean: showcases their awards and escape success rates of the day. We did the Traveling Crook and Tides Take Back. This escape room offers 3 hints, but allows for more if really needed. The Traveling Crook is rated a level 3 difficulty, however, it seemed to be more like an introduction to escape rooms--in our case, escaped with plenty of time left (12 minutes and change). During our game time, the dry erase markers dried out, but we were quickly given new ones. The most difficult parts were along the lines of puzzle operation rather than puzzle logic. Tides Take Back is locker room themed with actual Tides memorabilia and player information as clues. During our visit, some things took time to solve for the wrong reasons. The most glaring example: one of the locks combinations was set incorrectly due to unexpected difficulties even though we had found the right answer, however, the Game Master was quick to assist with the issue. Both Game Masters were helpful all the way through the game. In the case of Tides Take Back, we were given a little more time as we were close to the end. In spite of the issues, Escape Room Virginia Beach is still worth your time and money and will definitely entertain and perplex you.
Was a fun and great experience- the staff were extremely helpful and friendly.
I was looking for something fun to do for my sons 11th birthday since having a party is not ideal at this time. This was so much fun for a small group of kids from 10-12 years old!! Found a great deal on Groupon too. Some of the puzzles were more challenging than I predicted. However, the girls who worked there gave us as many clues as we needed and made sure that this was a fun experience!! This location is near the Town Center Virginia Beach for dinning or special treats afterwards.
AWESOME AND AMAZING ADVENTURE!!! I REALLY LOVE THE ESCAPE ROOM...LOADS OF FUN!!! CANT WAIT TO DO IT AGAIN!!!
Thanks, Dillyn!!My sister and my nieces love this place, and I see why. My first escape room, and the scenarios are great. There are three scenarios now; Dillyn and the staff are wonderful; they also say more rooms are soon to come. The rooms are brightly lit and clean. Masks are required; sanitizer is available inside. The clues make sense. They are challenging, and I felt dim on occasion, but it was a blast. Ive hyped this place up so much that my daughter wants to go to an escape room for her birthday. Thanks for making my first escape room incredible.
Such nice staff, and the escape rooms have so much detail put into everything that makes the whole experience wonderful
First time here. Friendly staff. Fun for a couple or double date activity. Will go again.
Wow. The Con artist really made us think. This was our first experience, and it was everything that we expected. Dont forget to ask for clues.
The escape room itself was not bad. The room is mostly filled with number and word locks where you get the answers from solving a clue or a puzzle. What i did not like about this place is that half of the time we asked for a hint, the guy had no response and we had to physically come out from the room for help. Our group had to come out from the room 3 times which wasted our time (especially with having only one hour to break the room) and disturbed the flow. We did not even get compensated for the time we wasted. Overall, not a bad escape room but I would rather go somewhere else.
To much fun! Went with my brother and his wife, we managed to get out with just a couple of minutes to spare. It was my wifes and mine first time, but my brother was an escape room veteran. All four of us had a lot of fun, and we were all able to contribute to the outcome. Will go again.
I liked the challenges.
Awesome place but look for discount codes because the prices are high. Also go with more then two people to really get a great experience of the rooms
Lots of fun. Bring friends, family, or co-workers for some exciting brain-fun.
Not going to lie Im not comfortable being trapped in a room but this Very Interesting and fun to do with the family and friends. And Shout Out to the StaffHighly Recommended
I do not recommend going to this escape room. Our group did the most difficult room offered. First, the themes. The theme did not matter at all. We were just in a room with the task of finding something. There was no explanation or role playing for the theme. The game master explained the basic rules, and I asked if the room had a one lock, one use operation, meaning that each lock and clue is used only one time. She said that some are used again. This was not the case. Misleading. Second, the room used a mechanism that was known to repeatedly fail. This kept us from actually retrieving the item we were tasked with and completing the run. We technically escaped the room, but none of the satisfaction was there. Why use a mechanism that you know fails repeatedly? It tells me that you dont really care about the customers experience. Third, when the game master came in when the clock ran out, she didnt fully explain why the last lock wasnt opening. We asked her what the locks combination was based on, and she said its random. This angered me until I realized she meant that it didnt matter what you used. She also didnt announce that we actually escaped until I asked. Again, zero satisfaction. If they were truly watching us, then they wouldve known that we were struggling for over 20 mins on this last lock that used a mechanism that they KNEW can fail sometimes. When we asked for our last clue to help us out, it told us what we were already doing. Not helpful at all. The game master watched us struggle with a bad lock until time was out.
Liked it a lot. The room is basically filled with clues and locked boxes. Figure out the combinations and puzzles to get to the final door lock and open it. Not a lot of back story, and the story doesnt seem to be that important, it just sets the theme. Still a ton of fun. I highly suggest getting your own group to go. You can drop in with others, but it helps if you all know each other. There is less chance of you getting pushed out of the way by aggressive members you dont know.
After doing an escape room at another location a few months ago, we were excited to give Escape Room Virginia Beach a try; however we were deeply disappointed!! Where as the first Escape Room we did with another local company gave us a clue to start and some direction to start, Escape Room Virginia Beach literally gave us the rules and said good luck and shut the door. When we asked for one of the THREE and only THREE clues we were allowed, they appeared on the TV for all of about 60 seconds and then disappeared. When asked for a little bit of extra guidance we were told in a harsh voice “your out of clues, I can’t help you anymore!” Seeing as how we were there celebrating my sons birthday party I thought the staff would be more accommodating, however they treated it like we were trying to win thousands of dollars and like it was some great big competition and not just a fun game! Needless to say we will not be returning, we feel it was a waste of money, and sad that it had to be like this considering it was my sons birthday.I would highly recommend trying out other Escape Rooms were the staff are better about ensuring and helping you have a great time!
Great time for our family! I would say great for ages 10+.
Set a record for best time
We had an amazing time! Everything and everyone there made it that much more enjoyable. The staff was top notch and our adventure was great (even though we didnt solve it, 2 numbers away!) I highly recommend Escape Room.
The rooms weren’t awful. But it also wasn’t very creative. It was mostly just a bunch of padlocks to figure out the code to which was disappointing. And the room didn’t seem to go with the Con artist theme we had signed up for.
It was a really nice place to try out if you have never done an escape room before, rooms were set up nice, staff was excellent, friendly, and helpful. I recommend this place
Of the three escape rooms Ive done in Hampton Roads this one was far and away the worst. The rooms seemed kinda old school...all combo lock based puzzles. The room itself was pretty blah and the person helping us over the walkie was down right useless. We asked for help several times to have no one respond at all. Worst of all, the puzzles were terrible, not really logic based at all. Not at all recommended
Came here with a group of Navy wives to enjoy a girls night together. We ended up doing one of their harder rooms accidently so we were all in for a treat. It was a lot of fun working together to get stuff solved. There were a few things that were unclear and we ended up solving them by chance. In the end, we almost got out. We were two clues away from unlocking the door! Apparently, that room only has a 20% success rate so our group getting so far into the room was an achievement at the very least. I will definitely come back again with some friends in the future. Maybe an easier room though.
The staff, our host who failed to introduce himself and bragged that hes been working there over 2 years was not friendly or welcoming and lacked customer service. We found out towards the end there is a rule that they are not allowed to give any clues/hints during the last 10 minutes even though we had clues left. This is the first escape room out of over dozens that I have experienced that has this rule. Most places including this has the 3 limit rule, which was the only clue related rule stated. The host stated he told us during the brief, but each of us did not hear such thing except the standard rules. This felt like he didnt want us to complete the room. Almost all escape rooms want their customers to have a good experience and complete the room (more clues than just the 3 but with time added to final results or other penalties). We did appreciate that our host was willing to show us the last 3 puzzles we had left and offered to take our photos. We have lots experience with escape rooms in other states and with many different chains. From poor quality to fancy rooms. The room we had at this place was the most difficult out of the other options. The quality of this room was okay/good, not the worst. Puzzles were great. Lots of locks though. Also, one puzzle took way more of our time than needed because of the puzzles technical difficulties.Waiting area/lobby is nice and restrooms are clean. There are no lockers to keep our things.
SO MUCH FUN
Amazing! Cant wait to go again and do another room!
My family and I had a great time! This was really a challenging adventure...it was our first time and we loved it! Will definitely do it again
Traveler one was hard but I had fun!
Great experience. We did the High Noon Salon, very classy looking place. I had low expectations when I first went in, but it was soo much fun! My husband and I had 3 mins left to spare. We will definitely go back to do the other rooms!
Fun times here. Great for the kids and a small birthday party group.
We did an escape room at another establishment the night before and loved it, so we decided to try this one the next night. We were extremely disappointed and wished so much we had gone back to the other place. The young man who guided us through the experience was extremely unprofessional and was in a hurry to get us out of there so he could leave through the night. He talked over the walkie the entire time, actually joining in our conversation while we talked and answering questions we were asking each other and telling us whether something was right or wrong without us being able to figure it out for ourselves. We felt like it was a huge waste of money and time and next time well go elsewhere. Thanks for nothing!
Took my husband for his birthday and we had a blast!! We soooo did not escape but it a great team building experience. We picked the trident themed room which was perfect because we had just watch aqua man earlier that day. I do feel the directions were a little vague but still a good time!
Went here for a girls day and we did the 90s room. It’s was so much fun and we all had a blast. The staff was very helpful and kind. Will definitely return and try another escape room soon!
Oh my, I dont remember our person, but she was great, even though we didnt get all the clues until the end, fun, fun
My friends and I went as a group of seven and did the Western themed room. This was my first escape room experience, but it was awesome! We all really enjoyed it Unique puzzles that were surprisingly challenging. GREAT team building exercises. The employee who helped us was very polite and courteous. He patiently described the objective and was very helpful. He even offered to take a photo of us after we completed the room. Just a great experience overall. I will be returning.
I have been to around 30 escape rooms and this place ranks in the bottom 3. In all my experiences, have only had to do a room with randoms twice before this, most people dont book into a room already booked. Not sure how there booking is set up but we did 2 rooms and got stuck with randoms each time. The first couple said they told them since it was just 2 of them, they HAD to join our room. I am not even sure they enjoyed their experience being new to escape rooms with veteran players...they didnt get to do much. The second room, got joined by 4 more people, booking it to capacity at 8 which was no fun for anyone. Too cramped and kept getting in each others way...most people started looking bored because there just wasnt enough in there to entertain 8 people. They clearly care more about making the most money instead of customer experience making sure they stick everyone together with their booking. They use walkie talkies for clues, which sucks, btw. I am not even sure why they have cameras in there because they clearly dont even watch you. You ask for a clue and they are like... well where are you stuck at? And what have you already done? Which eats away your time. Definitely wont be back to this place... if you want an escape room in VB I would recommend Countdown, Black Cat, or escape2win.
My daughter and her friends purchased entrance admissions through Groupon. However, they were told that you actually have to make a reservation for this Escape Room. They wanted to have their money refunded then (as they are just a bunch of High Schoolers that dont have money just laying around and they actually saved for this). I called Escape Room Virginia Beach, and was told rudely that since it was purchased through Groupon, they cant give a refund and have to go call Groupon. The lady also said, she was pretty sure that it was stated on their Groupon tickets that they needed a reservation. I would have understood all this, but the rudeness - no... You say its a Groupon problem, but they also send lots of customers your way and absolutely nowhere on there does it state that a reservation is needed. So the least, you could do is not to be rude about it.... Not going to support this business, if they continue to be rude like that!
First time at an escape room and was not disappointed. Staff was great, the puzzles were fun, and just a great time. Highly recommendable.
First time Escapee. There with grandson and his friends. Enjoyed watching them solve a difficult challenge in 51 minutes.
A lot of fun. Staff was very helpful. Had a great time!
Had a great time with my family and meet new friends.
This place is a lot of fun! I have been several times and it is always challenging and entertaining. Get your crew together, put on your thinking caps and get ready to solve some puzzles! It is a great place to develop teamwork and critical thinking skills.
I highly recommend to go with a group of people that you know. My husband and I were grouped with another couple who were also first timers, but unfortunately we were also grouped with 4 high schoolers. It was easy to work with the adults, but the kids were snatching items from each other, coming into the room late, rude to one another and seemed like they didnt want the adults to help at all and even seemed upset when we did. They were even discussing clues from other rooms. Overall just didnt seem age appropriate or organized.
Was a great experience. Kind of a small shanty building, but the staff were friendly and went out of their way to ensure that their customers had a positive experience. My girlfriend and I would likely go again.
My first time doing this type of activity. I went with my wife and adult children. We escaped our room with 15 minutes to spare. I had a lot fun and I would do it again. The staff was really nice and extremely helpful. They helped you get started and were very helpful with the clues. Check then out, a great family activity for older children.
The escape room we were in was literally broken, so when the time ran out the girl working there was like you had to do this, then proceeded to demonstrate how it wasn’t ‘doing that’.
We Escaped!! We unlocked the safe to get the gold!! Super fun but put on your thinking caps gang this riddles are no joke!! The game is for all ages but I would stick to teens or above. Also, it really takes team work, so better if you have a group go with you and know that they will put strangers in your room if your group isnt a group of 8. Still a lot of fun and a cool way to get to know new people. Check out Groupon for deals!
This was by far the most fun ive had at any one of these types of places. the crew worked hard to make sure our group was well taken care of and had an amazing time. this is now on the agenda for when my family comes to town next month. thanks again for a great time. would definitely recommend to anyone that wants to have fun
A real blast. Played an escape with total strangers and it turned out to be great way to bring everyone together. My run was a success and I plan to be back again for another round!
The Escape Room was a fun mystery experience! I would love to come back and do it again.
I called to offer kind and constructive feedback after my most recent bad experience, but was hung up on mid conversation. Below is now now my unapologetic honest review:I have to say, I have done over 35 rooms in the Hampton Roads area alone and these are some of the LAZIEST rooms I have ever seen. There is no immersion, the clues are all lock based, 90% from a written laminated clue, and some of them are not solvable without a hint. The Detention Hall and the renovated Con Artist rooms have several clues that had no logic behind them. Those were the worst offenders, but the other rooms aren’t much better, with the exception of the Saloon. Whoever is making these rooms needs to reevaluate how they create the clues and the decor.Lastly, the gamemasters weren’t paying attention and were too busy laughing (we could hear it through the walkie talkie) to give us hints. After the room, the young brunette girl didn’t interact with us at all and we had to call out to her when we thought we were finished because she wasn’t watching. Horrible experience and there are several other hardworking escape rooms that deserve your business (and awards for whoever in God’s green earth gave them a local business award) than this place.
Lots of fun! We werent too sure about attempting one with strangers but turned out to be alot of help.
We usually have a wonderful time here. We have done all the rooms except the high noon and king trident. First off, it wasnt explained about random people doing a room with us so we ended up doing trident. During the trident room we were not monitored at all. Our walkie talkie died, and wouldnt quit beeping, the black light kept dying. I finally stepped out had to walk to the back to get someones attention. And all were just sitting there talking. I was obviously annoyed. My boyfriend and i are in the customer service industry and know how people should be treated. It takes a lot to make me upset. No apologies were even offered.
Loved it! Had so much fun!! Definitely going again!
So much fun! Took my wife here for mothers day and we had a blast, we were paired with other players, which if you are wondering is a complete plus to the experience! The different people all bring something to the playing field. Highly recommend will be coming back!
We played a few nights ago and the room itself was extremely fun! I thought it was decorated nicely and the clues were challenging but made sense. The only reason I took off one star is because the staff seemed a bit unprofessional and not very welcoming. Also, something in the room was broken and we were not told so we spent a lot of time messing with something that was never going to activate anyway. Overall though it was a ton of fun!
Had an awesome time. Was skeptical about the enclosed spaces but it was great. Will definitely go again
We had fun trying to find and solve the clues. Our kids (7 and 10) had a good time and were as helpful as they could be. We ran out of time but still enjoyed the game. We went at an early time slot and were able to have the room to ourselves. If youre going while visiting the VA beach area, use the Groupon for a better discount than the one offered in the visitors guide.
Had a really fun time here for my first escape room! Did the Con Artist. It was really interesting and pretty creative. Whenever I come again, Ill probably raise my score.
Super awesome puzzles and staff. The rooms were very clever and hard to figure out. We figured ours out with 30 sec left on the clock. Well put together and great fun for the family or a group of friends. You could even take younger kids and they would still have a good time. Definitely would recommend.
We have done two rooms here. The first, traveling crook was really well done. The second one we did was Neptunes Treasure and wasnt set up properly so we couldnt get a clue without help from the game master, the clue was hidden in what it unlocked. Besides that, the room wasnt as creative as the first one.
This was the most fun I have had in a long time!! The staff was awesome and the room we did was extremely challenging. A+++ I will be returning soon!
This was my first escape room experience and we finished the room with only seconds left! Very fun! Id definitely do it again.
We rescued Neptunes trident! Room was arranged well. All the clues were there, though half were tricky to find. To find the last clue we had to move a large object, which we understood we were not supposed to do. We called for a hint and were asked if we had looked under ______, then we found it.Other than that glitch, 2 moderate complaints keep me from giving 5 stars. Most important there was no one there to greet us, no instructions for checking in, so we were confused and wasted time waiting for someone to come out to the foyer. And there were several small flashlights provided, but most had dead or dying batteries.
Had a great time and we beasted King Neptune!!
Definitely had a fun time. Was harder than I expected
The witch room was super fun!
I enjoyed this. Four of us attempted the western saloon themed room, in which the object is to pilfer the contents of a safe within one hour. There are clues hidden around the room that are used to open various locks that will assist you in this task. You are given a radio that you can call back to request assistance. In our case, we probably waited a bit too long to ask for help (with eight minutes remaining), and thus only succeeded as the buzzer went off. The staff counted it as a win, but Id call it borderline.
This place was awesome. Good time with friends and family. The events were fun and the hour flew by.
It was an amazing experience my wife and I went for our 1 year wedding anniversary we enjoyed it and we will be back
Awesome experience. Definitely challenging will go back to try again.
Although the room was the hardest for their rooms, this room seemed unfair. There were clues that unless you tried for forever you would have to ask for a hint and the hints are incomplete. Even after a hint it took us nearly 10mins to figure out something because hint was not complete. Then the person who is suppose to watch you didnt appear to be watching because they took forever to answer and didnt know where you were in the game. Room was too dark therefore finding a clue literally required us to use our phone flashlight. Unlocking items was a maze in itself because never knew which code went for any of the locks (multiple locks with 4 digit codes). This made us realize you need more that 2 people to man all the exposed locks. Worse setup in our opinion and we did multiple rooms all of which was their hardest.
The family and I had a blast trying to solve the case before our time ran out. Our last clue for the lock was right but unfortunately the lock was jammed which took the last ten minutes of our time. I believe we would have solved it!
We had a lot of fun but I wish we received better instruction before we began. Despite that we finished with 20 minutes to spare.
Had a fantastic time. Did the saloon escape room and had a blast.
I went with a couple of friends and did the Tides escape room. It was tons of fun and very challenging puzzles. Great way to spend an hour.
Very fast preparation and the traveling crook room was a lot of fun. Took some thinking but feel free to use your phone for geographical reference. I recommend going with people you know. The more people you know, the more streamlined the process will be for clue solving and the more likely you are to escape!
A lot of fun. Recommend checking difficulties as not each of the escapes are the same level. We did a level 3 and solved it in about 25 minutes without asking for clues
Had an issue but management worked through it . . .great place. Looking forward to visiting again soon!
My first time...lots of fun. Hackers room finished with about 5 minutes to spare. We will be back
It was fun but since it was our first experience, a little information on how we go about finding clues would have been nice.
Went here for the first time with friends and we did the high noon saloon room. We also had 4 other people with us that were booked for the same room. We didnt know how we all were going to work together but it worked out. We won our room too!! So much fun, we will definitely be back.
It was a fun experience except that there were too many people in the room for my first experience. My following experiences, I booked private rooms for my group and it was definitely a lot of fun. Very fun concept and interesting clues. Will definitely go again.
This was our first escape room and we had an amazing time! We ended up beating the room and setting a new record for the missing lucky underwear room lol. Would highly recommend!
I went here with three other people I knew and there ended up being 4 others to do the Traveling Crook room. We ended up solving it and getting out in 45 minutes. It was a lot of fun. The other group had done something similar before and didnt make it out so they were extremely eager to beat the clock this time. That was the downside to me: the were so eager and stepping on and over us as we were figuring out the clues. They just took over and didnt let anyone else participate including 2 of their own people. That said, I will be back but with a larger group so that we can do it together.
Its a great place. Lots of rooms. Only thing I would say is, have more than 2 people. Complex Challenges, great for team building or getting to know someone.
Very fun! A unique experience. You are locked in a room with hidden clues that lead to your way out. You can have a pro ate room or join a group. I would definitely do this again.
I enjoyed this place a lot! Me and my friends did the horror based room (I can not think of the name at the top of my head at the moment), but I remember bonding and getting closer. I do not recommend bringing younger kids though as they can break clues or props.
Very fun, have to find clues and undo locks to get out of the room.
Overall the concept seems really fun. My son had been with a group of his friends and had a great time, but not so much his second trip. The staff was really young and had VERY low energy. Upon arrival, we were greeted and then they disappeared without any further directions or details regarding what we were supposed to do. Overhearing other people who were showing up for their escape is how we even learned of the waivers to be filled out! In fact, the staff seemed bored to death. Then we were simply shown the escape room, once again no directions or details other than “there’s the bathroom “. The walkie talkie didn’t work very well and that really slowed our progress. They did finally bring a new one half way through. I know I would have given a much higher rating had the staff been more engaged and happier.
