We have just completed the most awesome escape room! We have a large family and the kids all 7 absolutely loved it!! The staff is amazing with children of all ages. Our expectations were wildly exceeded. All 5 stars for sure!!

We tried out Black Cat Escape Room this weekend and had a blast. It is located in a big huge office building but once you go in the main doors you just go to the right and the business is right there. We didnt think we were in the right place at first. This place is really neatly decorated with time period pieces/antique looking furniture, etc. It is different from all the other escape room businesses we have been to.We did the Speakeasy room. We had a great game master and owner of the business too was nice and friendly. We got clues when we were stuck. We loved the design and layout of the Speakeasy. We enjoyed the puzzles we had to solve. It is interactive and has surprises. There were 3 levels we could do the room on - beginner, intermediate and advanced. We selected advanced (you tell them when you get there - they will ask) since we have done escape rooms in the past. We got out with about 5:30 minutes left to spare. We will be back at this location to try out their other rooms later this year with more friends. We are excited to have new room experiences!!! Check this place out if you love escape rooms. You wont be disappointed!

Wonderful experience!! They really know how to ‘transport’ you into a different world. The decor really is incredible as well as the sounds in the room. The clues were great! Just my son and I but we ended up solving The Dollhouse. Too bad it’s only an hour!!

I cannot say enough good things about Black Cat Escape Room! My fiancé and I visit every time we come to Virginia. We’ve done their Dollhouse room and the Stray Cat Speakeasy, and they are two of our favorite rooms we’ve ever done (out of 115!). The puzzles are unique and had us thinking outside the box, the themes are so fun, and you really feel like you’re stepping right into the story of the game. They’d be great experiences for date nights, family fun, or for a group of friends! I LOVE that they offer levels of play for each room. The owner Cailey is awesome - very welcoming and recognized us immediately after meeting us only once before. If you’re in the area, definitely stop by and check them out! You won’t be disappointed!

Our group had an outstanding experience in the Doll house. It is a well designed escape room with great clues and hidden treats. If youre looking for a fun way to keep your mind sharp...THIS IS THE PLACE TO GO!!

Excellent escape room experience. One of the things that can really make or break how well an escape room is percieved is the string of logic throughout the game: do the clues make sense and do they link together? For The Basement of Misfit Toys, the answer to these questions is a resounding yes. While the puzzles can be challenging, they are not at all impossible and a lot of fun to solve. Unique room elements not really seen in other escape rooms. Room design is coherent and feels like, well, Christmas. (Pictures are of the waiting area.)

This escape room was very challenging but extremely fun. The staff was very pleasant and helpful. My family and I enjoyed it so much that we came back the next night for the other adventure. Well done. I look forward to coming back when they add additional rooms.

My family and I had such a blast at Black Cat Escape Room. It was our first time doing an escape room and we were not disappointed with Black Cat. The facilities are clean and the decor is top notch. The staff are friendly and helpful. The Dollhouse room was a perfect level for us newbies. It was a great experience! We will definitely return in the future.

It is a lovely place with friendly staff who gave us tips and set out guidelines. The room was beautifuly decorated and fun things where hidden, but not too hard. It was a good level of difficulty, we finished with 4 min. I would recommend it to anyone who enjoy mysterious games.

I had a great time at the Black Cat Escape room. It was a fun date night and we really enjoyed the experience. The gamemaster was fun and you could tell that they really loved what they do. The game really shoes you how well you communicate and work together. I was really excited to go, and my date really kicked butt. We had a blast. Thank you ladies, I will be back for more.

As a family, we went to do Black Cat Escape we were challenged, laughed, enjoyed the storyline, and our investigation solving!! Excited to come back and do another room!! Very impressive creativity, but not too much were you get lost in the solving. Totally recommend!!

Fun escape room run by incredibly friendly and polite family-owned staff. Completed both currently available rooms and enjoyed the available level of challenge and the level of care that went into both theme designs. Game operators were knowledgeable and pleasant, and the room and lobby were maintained spotless with added care to the ongoing COVID pandemic to ensure safety was considered for any potential guests.

It was great fun! It was clean, organized and challenging. Definitely coming back and increasing level of difficulty.

Not only is it a small business to support, but the escape rooms are Beautifully decorated and the clues are extremely interactive, not obvious, and professionally done. The staff is extremely kind and helpful and very willing to receive feedback and your opinion. Im very excited for their new rooms (as Ive done all of them) and recommend this escape room to all my (first time) friends!

I loooved this place! the theme and the set up of everything was very well thought out and the puzzles had my group struggling but we still made it out of one of the hardest rooms so this place is, in my opinion, the best in the beach.

My children and I enjoyed ourselves immensely. The story plot was cool. Staff were friendly and welcoming.

Not coming back here again. We love escape rooms and have been trying to check this one out but they have made it very difficult. The last time we came during business hours and they were closed for no reason, so when they finally answered the phone this time we were very excited! We tried to reserve a room and they said just come and we can reserve it there. When we traveled all the way from Chesapeake, we got there and four people were waiting for the room that we had just talk to them about. They said that the others arrived first so it was their room... even though we called before. They said WE need to be better at reserving?!? Horrible customer service, inconsistently closed during open hours and bad communication skills. Not a good business.

Great experience! They made our first escape room so much fun. They give you hints when you are stuck on a part. The rooms have beginner, medium, and advanced levels. We did their Christmas room. The room was challenging, but our family had a great time. They made it so even our 16 year old daughter was engaged and able to help solve the clues. The whole family put down their phones and didnt think about them the whole time we were there. Thats a win in my book! We had so much fun, we already signed up to do another room!

My girlfriend took me here for my birthday. This was our first escape room ever. The lady who helped us was nice and seemed to enjoy what shes doing. They told us we would have 3 hints but we kept getting hints after because we clearly would not have finished without more help. We had a great time here and would recommend this place.

SO MUCH FUN!!! It was elaborate, and well thought out. Spooky and keeps you engaged the whole time! Also, the lady who was our guide was sweet as pumpkin pie. Highly recommend for a night of fun!

Staff was rude, almost let another group have our reservation, and took an hour after the reserved time to actually play the room. Super disappointing.

We love this escape room location, they are the best we have tried. This mother daughter team really make each room special and they are MUCH more accommodating then others in the area. We 100% recommend this location.

Awesome room. My friends and I did this room a few days ago, and were blown away by the immersion and attention to detail. From the video at the beginning to the room itself, it is obvious that they care about the product they put out and want customers to have a good time. My buddies and I have done quite a bit of rooms both in the states and abroad, and were really impressed with doll house. Something as simple as changing out books that are beat up was a positive. Everything in the room sets the mood, and everything works as it should. The puzzles are challenging but not too difficult. Something I have never seen before was having different difficulties based on your skill level. You can choose beginner, advanced, and expert. The other thing that I really appreciated was that there is no additional charge for a private room. I hate sharing a room with strangers, and love the fact that it can be just my friends and I participating. When it comes to the game master, she was attentive and helpful. I have been to rooms where you cant get their attention or the clues do not help much. The one we had was great. Highly recommend!!!

The puzzles vary from easy to hard and allow for multiple players to solve more than one at a time. The staff is very friendly and helpful. We have been twice and can recommend that Black Cat is a good challenge.

We played The Dollhouse with 4 people - on advanced mode. I absolutely love that you can choose a level of difficulty for your game. Well thought out puzzles, wonderful story telling, awesome set. Everything you want in an escape room. One of the best in this area! Cant wait for new rooms to open!!

We had an amazing time here. Definitely one of my favorite escape rooms. One of the best ones I have ever done and the ladies there were so so nice and talkative. Very fun room, advanced level in the dollhouse and we made it! The details and story were so so good and made you feel like you were really there. The set as also so well put together. HIGHLY recommend!!!! Will be returning!

My husband and I are very new with escape rooms, but even we amateurs could tell Black Cat is one of the highest quality. Theyre very focused on providing the best possible experience for each customer- each booking is a private booking, even for our group of 2! The room itself is very immersive, with each element following the theme. The clues flowed together expertly. The mechanisms in place are well thought-out and well executed. Advanced mode has much to solve and enjoy. The game masters are truly looking out for your experience as you play- they provide small hints when they notice your struggles/questions and include no red herrings. Phenomenal attention to detail. From the opening video to the last puzzle its clear that immersion is important to them. The level of care is obvious. There is three levels to the room for difficulty is a great concept. Ive done a lot of escape rooms and we chose advanced. The level of difficulty was perfect. Right now they only have one room and I am anxiously awaiting when their next room opens in a few weeks. One of the best rooms in VA Beach hands down.

I just went to the Christmas Escape room and I definitely recommend you go here. The decorations were great, the puzzles were awesome, and the design and aspects of the room were so fun! 5/5 stars.

This is one of the best escape rooms Ive been to. Really interesting and different puzzles. A lot of thought and effort and great antiques were put into the room. We had a great time. Cant wait for the next adventure.

Was looking for a new place to quench my thirst for solving puzzles and I must say I have found it. The design of the room we did the Victorian Dollhouse was incredible. The puzzles are well done and very creative. And I cannot wait to try out their future rooms!! Please if you enjoy escape rooms do yourselves a favor and check them out!!

This place is absolutely amazing. The amount of time and effort put into this place definitely shows. When you walk into one of their rooms, it genuinely feels like you’re there. Short Version: Speakeasy Room. Awesome theme and puzzles. Immersive environment. All bookings are private.Long Version: My wife and I have done most of the Escape rooms in Hampton Roads and some in other states as well. Black Cat is easily top three for us. We like to do escape rooms with just the two of us and Black Cat offers private bookings at no extra cost which was perfect. They also let you choose a difficulty level, which is good for both enthusiasts looking for a challenge or beginners trying an escape room for the first time. We completed the Speakeasy room on the hardest difficulty level.The setting for the Speakeasy was incredible. I felt like I was in the 1930s the whole time (or whenever prohibition was). They really went all out with the decor, which sets it apart from many other escape rooms I’ve been to. The puzzles were awesome. They only used a couple of combo locks and focused more on creative puzzles and used tech in ways we haven’t seen before. I’ve seen many rooms with lazily written puzzle that made no sense in the story of the escape room, but at Black Cat, every puzzle had a purpose and fit the theme well. The game masters were great with their hints. We had to use about three clues for the Speakeasy, but the game master gave hints in a way that just pushed us in the right direction without being a dead giveaway, so it was still challenging.Even the bathroom was challenging. People were shoving paper towels through the latticework of the trash can cause they couldn’t figure out how to open it. Hint: pull the latch.We are definitely going back soon to do the Doll House room.

We had an amazing experience at Black Cat. They only have one room open because they’re still fairly new, but the one room they had was fantastic. We’ve done roughly 70 rooms and I highly recommend their room. They focus on quality with great puzzles, great immersion, and excellent customer service. We stayed and talked with the owner for an hour afterwards and she was very helpful on recommendations. This is definitely a must stop ER in Virginia Beach.

My husband and I have done over 100 rooms across the US. We did the Doll House room and absolutely loved it! It has made out top 5 list, no questions asked. It had the whole package! Great back story, fun puzzles, polished set design, and a hint system that did not break the emersion feeling. I highly suggest for beginners and advance players alike. It does not hurt that the game master was so enthusiastic and had an incredible attention to detail! Bravo!

My cousin and i did this on a rainy Sunday while we where here on vacation. Going back again tomorrow because it was so muxh fun. Recommend this to anyone. Thrilling, exciting, brain testing, competive and fun. We solved the mystery with 45 seconds to spare.

We just finished a beautifully, well designed, and challenging escape room at the Black Cat! Everything was very clean and professionally built. We are excited to return to try out additional puzzles!

The themes are top notch with great focus on accuracy! The puzzles all make sense and it has adjustable levels if you feel sheepish or up to the challenge!

I love everything about this place! From the room itself to the wonderful women (and doggo) who run the place. Played the dollhouse room with some friends from work and loved everything about it. Will definitely be bringing my family back to play their other rooms!

This was terrific, after several escape rooms, this was a great place to take the kids. We werent cramped in a tiny room with old or damaged objects. Instead, it was a nice facility, well decorated and very organized. Will definitely visit again soon when the next room arrives.

This place is exceptional! From the time I walked into the lobby to wait to play, the warmth of the environment created by this escape room was awesome. The room I played was The Basement of Misfit Toys and I thought it was absolutely great in all the ways an escape room should be. A key thing for me is the atmosphere of the room, which was perfected in my opinion and felt just like the magic of Christmas. The puzzles and clues flowed well and everything goes together great. Ive played rooms where I lost interest quickly because of not so great story and bad clues but not here! Definitely recommend this one to everyone from enthusiasts to first timers!

My boyfriend and i do escape rooms every week for date night. Last min we wanted to do one more and came across this place. We did the dollhouse. Let me tell you. It was the best eacape room we have done. We had so much fun!!! Lots of laughing too. Especially at the beginning lol. Kaylee and kathleen are wonderful. And this date night is certainly one to remember. Everyone check this place out!
