We really enjoyed our winter visit and look forward to a return in the spring when everything is green!

Post Oak Picnic Area (Group Picnic Area #1) is one of two reservable picnic areas at Tyler State Park. (There are also lots of other picnic tables in the park you can use without a reservation, but the reservable areas are good for groups.)Post Oak is shady and has two large grills (one waist-high and one firepit-style) and six picnic tables pushed together on a concrete slab. Theres a circular driveway for parking and its a short, walkable distance from the lakes swimming area and the park store.If you have a larger group I recommend going up the road a little and reserving the Northwoods Pavilion instead (its not currently showing up on Google maps.) This one has a roofed structure with fans and lights, an extra-large waist-high grill and smaller firepit and a large parking lot thats adjacent to the Loop D trailhead. The playground, park store and swimming area are still within walking distance.

Clean restrooms. Nice park. Fishing pretty good.
