A small and well cared house. What I loved the most is we can actually see some of the dresses and belongings of the original owners. My second favorite the lovely antique doll collection.

The history of this home at the end of the civil war.. The history of the house as it went from a 4 room modest home to the home it is today and how under what conditions, the home, all its contents and the 9 acres it sits on were inherited by the City of Tyler. The fact that; surprisingly; there is no admission fee. A $2.00 donation which goes to the up keep of the home and property is requested.Well worth the donation. Especially if your into history

Talk about a hidden gem. I had no idea this was here and it is wonderful. Thank you Google search. The home is beautiful and the docents are so eager for you to enjoy it. My biggest criticism is that they display far too much and some rooms look junky. Would love to see them build a separate museum to house the artifacts and let us see the house better, but dont let that stop you from visiting. It is a wonderful experience.
