If you like aircraft and Military memorabilia it is an awesome place. You get a personal tour guide to take you through the airplanes and then you can look through the museum at your leisure. Most everything there is donated by families from Tyler and surrounding area. They have an amazing amount of History it is a must-see!

Didnt realize that Tyler had an airport there and that there was an historic Aviation Memorial iwith 10 or 12 old planes on the tarmac. They had some real veterans there who actually flew some of those planes in the wars and they were full of knowledge and compassion and we just loved it. Great place to go and its not that expensive.

This museum is a gem! It contains a surprisingly large collection of aviation artifacts, including photos, uniforms, and print materials. The docents (many retired military) are very knowledgeable about the aircraft, including the engineering aspects. It is a fantastic place for children and adults alike.

Has terrific displays. They have plenty of volunteers and veterans that told us stories and pointed out significant objects in the displays. The weather cooperated and we were given a guided tour of the planes and equipment outside. We were there a couple of hours and I still didnt see everything.I really recommend this place.

The visiting planes were great, but the static home planes were in poor condition and you couldnt get close to them. No placards either. Many of the inside displays lacked placards for history or explanation.

As an aviation enthusiast and aspiring pilot myself, I wish I could spend everyday here! The staff are extremely nice and the exhibits take you through the entire history of aviation. There is even an exhibit where you can walk among retired military aircraft!

Nice small museum featuring a lot of aviator uniforms and equipment from the different military branches plus a lot of models of a wide variety of aircraft; also some gear, pix, etc. from space explorations. Well worth the small admission price. Enjoyed the warbird expo there, too, that featured a lot of different historical aircraft to see up close and personal.

If you plan to visit, call first to see if a large crowd is scheduled. You want to go when just a few people are there. The docent that led us around had personal experience with many of the aircraft on the tarmac. The displays inside were very interesting and unique. Be sure to look up in the lobby before entering the museum.

After the original airport was replaced and upgraded, the city helped restore a museum and aircraft tours of restored planes and donated WW2 from local familys collections. living history.

It looked like it might be interesting but to get into the aircraft parking area one has to be escorted by a geriatric volunteer. That causes a monumental delay.and crereates pressure to move along quickly.

Really enjoyed going to this museum. The airport was under construction and it was cold and rainy, but the staff that took us out in the rain to talk about each plane or jet or helicopter did an awesome job. There was a lot of information for this small museum and was worth the small price to get in. The staff was great!

A friend and I flew to Tyler this morning for breakfast at the Skyline Diner. Breakfast was excellent but we also got a welcome surprise when we saw the Historic Aviation Memorial Museum right next door. Friendly knowledgeable veteran staff guided us through the respectable collection of Korean and Vietnam War era military aircraft. Well worth the drive or flight for the food and aviation enthusiast.

An excellent little aviation museum with a decent number of aircraft and artifact exhibits. Despite it being a Saturday afternoon, it wasnt crowded at all, and my son and I had plenty of time to peruse the exhibits and learn quite a bit. The docents on staff were very informative, especially about the outdoor exhibits.
