We attended the self-guided park today. Our expectations were surpassed. Quiet, relaxed atmosphere- lots of volunteer tour guides to offer help along the way. We easily spent two hours here yet we kept moving - and we skipped the desert walk only because we were running out of time. This is a great, small, compact tourist spot without the need to go hiking for hours! Beautiful display of art, cactus, aloe, and other foliage unique to Arizona. We were impressed.

A nice relaxing place for brunch. The menu isn’t large but had just enough to please everyone. The mimosas and mojitos were good. The food is a few dollars more than I would usually spend on a breakfast meal but you are also paying for the garden atmosphere. I would come back again in the future.

Great park to visit and understand Arizona plant life. Also to get an idea of what to grow in your gardens in Arizona. The staff are always warm and welcoming. Plenty of benches around to rest. Bring plenty of ice water but there are some fountains. Reasonable prices. Nice to get away from city life and relax in nature. Highly recommend a trip. Perfect day date. Perfect reading areas.

Tohono Chul was a lovely respite for the day. Theyre are so many elements of the preserve that are worth exploring; the architecture, the lovely plants, and an excellent gourmet lunch. For those people looking for gift shops there were several and they were all stocked with very representative goods of Arizona, with many of them handcrafted and local.

My favorite spot in Oro Valley / Tucson. The prickly pear margaritas are to die for. I moved to London and this is the first place I ask to go when I visit my parents here - in fact Im visiting now and really craving a margarita! Beautiful atmosphere and delicious food. Only thing I wish they still did was allow dogs in the back garden (used to be the case, now I think they are only allowed in the court yard which doesnt have as nice a view), and maybe to add misters in the front/back during summer. Cant wait to visit again

The 49-acre (19.8 ha) site itself offers a setting for Tohono Chuls regional focus. Views of the Santa Catalina Mountains form a backdrop for the natural desert habitat and its location within existing migratory tracks provides a temporary home for many species of wild, native fauna. Thirty-eight species of birds make their permanent home here while another 57 migrant species visit seasonally, and a variety of reptiles and mammals, from Gila monsters to bobcats, may be spotted on the grounds.

My only regret about this place is that I didnt adequately plan to spend enough time here (and without my kids)!!!Before I ever visited Tucson, Arizona, I just imagined that it would be a bunch of empty desert space other than a few buildings and maybe some Urban and rural areas. But, since moving here in the summer of 2017, Ive actually seen a lot more life here than I originally anticipated. In the process I developed a greater appreciation for the unique beauty here.Tohono Chul Park is a place (among several others) where you get to see a lot of that life and beauty. But I really like this place. There is a lot more to also see about the awesome restaurant that is on the premises, however it looks like there is another place on Google reviews to do that. So I will post about that place there.Anyhow looking at the park and seeing the different types of plant life than what Im used to really highlights the beauty of Tucson and the desert. This is a must see place for any visitor.

Once a private home and property, Tohono Chul is now a public park. As you meander through the park paths that wind around a variety of flora and fauna, you have a sense that you are in a private garden. Look for the artwork, especially for those pieces in the trees! Theres a bistro on the grounds, as well as a small art gallery, which adds to your pleasure.

So glad we went to Tohono Chul (aka Tohono Chul Park) is a botanical garden, nature preserve and cultural museum located in Casas Adobes, a suburb of Tucson, Arizona. The words tohono chul translate as desert corner and are borrowed from the language of the Tohono O’odham, the indigenous people of southern Arizona. The mission of Tohono Chul is to connect people with the wonders of nature, art and culture in the Sonoran Desert region and inspiring wise stewardship of the natural world.

Weve learned a ton so far about desert horticulture (were from coastal California so didnt have a clue about high desert where we live now) and also have enjoyed the shops and restaurant (excellent choice for lunch!). I went on a Sunday morning and strolled the gardens in about an hour. It was beautiful and serene. Ive never been to a garden where there are signs warning you of active rattle snakes. How exciting! Theres also a really wonderful shop selling a well curated selection of succulents and cactus. I really enjoyed the quilt show at the gallery as well and the cafe! It was pretty hopping for Sunday brunch but they have opened a part of the garden beyond the patio which was quiet and pleasant. The service was friendly but the croissant they served me was on the stale side and Ive never been served a croissant sliced in half. The atmosphere and the coffee and the staff made up for it.

A few nice (short) trails to walk along to see the different kinds of cacti. They have tours but my parents and I prefer to do our own thing so I didnt get to try. I want to next time though, I saw two groups end and it sounded pretty informative; people were very happy to thank their guide! They have a garden area growing things from lettuce, carrots, beans, peppers, and lemons. Would be neat to go back in a couple weeks to see the progress. Too bad I dont live here. There was a kids area with no kids, the place was pretty empty both times I went during my stay. I liked that only because you get the place to yourself and dont have to share the trail. There were an aweful lot of people parked there though, I think they must have all gone to eat at the restaurant there so that must be a good place to eat. Theres plenty of parking with bus/rv parking available too.

Nothing fantastic and the ingredients dont seem that high end. Service was also lacking a little bit here and there. Server didnt really seem like he wanted to be there or had a great knowledge of the menu. Price is as expected, high because of the name/location. Tohono Chul is a delight that cannot be missed. The gardens feature wonderful examples of native and desert-friendly plants through winding trails. Youll pass through everything from cactus and butterfly gardens to ripirian areas and learn about the plants and their history and uses along the way.At the far end of the site is an art gallery, which is worth a visit, and in the courtyard, the gift shop has local specialties. If youve been inspired by your visit, Tohono Chul nursery has native plants for sale.No visit is complete without stopping in at the restaurant, which has indoor seating and also outdoor seating in the courtyard or in the back under the trees. Beautiful. The menu offers unique takes on traditional dishes and a few surprises. For example, local heirloom beans, squash and cactus can be found on the menu. They avoid this classification but lets face it: Tohono Chul is a botanical garden of sorts. And a good one at that!
