Quirky, intriguing piece of architecture preserved in almost original state with guided tours which discuss the owners and their lives as well as some interesting facts about the home itself. Its an inexpensive and fun place to stop in and spend an hour or so when out in the downtown area.

From the moment you step inside, you are transported to another era. A time when women were Ladies and men were Gentlemen. Top hats and corsets were adorned. Bicycles were new transportation. Homes were large and beautiful. This one is no exception. Magnificently designed with every detail. Let your mind run wild and imagine life in another time. WORTH THE TRIP !.

A must place to visit while I Thomasville, a one of a kind house built in a very peculiar way by person with rare taste and fear of fire. The architecture is at odds with convention and the choices and plans are unique in their own way, our guide was very helpful and knowledgeable and answered all our questions. And we didnt know what was the use for an artifact at the pantry, so after some detective work I found out it is a hair curler for the hair style of the era...Weird.looking contraption...Enjoy your visit and get ready to be amazed by this house that has a surprise literally at every corner, nook and floor

Wonderful historic home with knowledgeable tour guides from the local historic society. The first floor is ADA compliant, though like most old homes the stairs to the second and third floors are tight and winding. The Patterson family have donated many items from both their times in the house and from previous owners, so there are touches of history throughout. Dont miss the Queen Anne window on the third floor!I dont know what Mr. Lapham was thinking when he built this home, but Im glad it still stands for us to see.

Such an interesting home! Not for the faint of heart...steep stairs, low ceilings. The perfect location for Poe Nights. Definately a home to visit for all its oddities. Warning: we were led to believe the last tour was at 4 when, in fact, they closed at 4. You may want to call if you are considering a late afternoon tour.
