A great place to visit. Never knew about the area. A quaint town and Greek community. Wonderful delicious food and pastries to be enjoyed. That alone will bring you back. Went to Hellas for lunch and went back for dessert. Highly recommended. Learning about the sponge industry and varieties was good too.
Plan an entire day trip to explore the lovely Greek town of Tarpon Springs. St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, Brooks Nature Preserve, the Sponge Market Museum, all the quaint little shops lining the main boulevard ( our favorite is the Music shop!), boat tours, and of course, the fantastic ( and authentic) Greek food! Do NOT leave Tarpon Springs without stopping by The Orange Cycle Creamery! The BEST ice cream around with seasonal flavors, friendly staff, and lots of room for social distancing...until its packed because it is so good. Dont worry, they sell pints, too, so you can enjoy your ice cream at peace at home!
I love tarpon springs. What a great place. There are a lot of wonderful restaurants. Costas has fantastic food. The best gyro Ive ever had and the best Greek salad that Ive ever had. And then you can get some great sponges for your shower and bath. And what great gifts they make. I love this place.
A lot of shops and restaurants, homemade goods.. Very nice oeople! Beautiful place!
There are many places to enjoy, from shopping in the quaint stores that line the streets, to the authentic greek food all along the main route, and fascinating boat rides in local waters with wild dolphins. Its a wonderful way to spend a day.
Always enjoy going there. Ninas shop is where we get our soaps. We always get a warm welcome at her shop. My wife and I always support local businesses!!!
Neat shops with reasonably priced items. 2 hour dolphin cruise was great.
Such a cute place to walk around and get lunch or dinner. Its small but very interesting. There is a little museum and you can learn about how they harvest the sponges. Many Greek restaurants as this area has a rich Greek history.
Always nice to get out and walk around the shops. Good eats too. Variety of Cigars! Must visit Wine at the Docks... really good wine!
This was so fun. We had driven through one time before but didnt stop. So one day we decided to go. Walked around for a couple hours looked at all the shops, quite a fun time. Lots of cool stuff.
Fun area to explore. Awesome little craft beer taphouse hidden in the sponge exchange....Anclote Brew
We came here back in Nov of 2019, and were really enchanted with the place. Its a small Greektown, and theyve really retained their culture. Some of it, for sure, for show and tourism, but when you hear the Greek language between locals, you know that thats genuine. We came back, now, in Oct of 2020, and it was a little less exciting than the first time. But Tarpon Springs is definitely worth a visit. Its fun to see and buy the real sponges that the towns industry was built on years ago, and also get some great pastry from one of the local bakeries.
Great place for food and shopping. We come here all the time. The dolphin cruise is beautiful and the island where they take you is fun, shells all over. I would definitely recommend the sponge docks if you in the area
Great afternoon of shopping with amazing food every where. Step off the main street and grab some hand made soap or Shae butter at Ninas Gift Shop!
I loved the quaint village and seeing all the fishing boats and sponges. The food was fantastic... I almost felt transported back to Greece for a day
One of the coolest things I’ve ever seen. Our family loved walking up and down the docks visiting all the cute shops and watching them unload the boats. Everyone in town is so friendly and kind. One of the few places left they don’t purposely gouge tourists on souvenirs and keepsakes. Highly recommend
My husband took me to the Sponge Docks for a date day. Ive been in FL for 5 year and never been. We got married at Sunset Beach in Tarpon Springs, but this was my first time in tourist part of the town. I will definitely be returning!!! :)
Awesome awesome place the first place to park has you go in to pay 3$ to park. Ok Im in sold from Massachusetts so game on. Anyways you go in and theres this wicked awesome down to earth guy named Joe hell of an experience. Oh and across the street my grandmother tried greek food for the first time in her life at 81 years old so get here awesome views awesome street and wicked good food with wicked good people.
This was a very beautiful trip for the family. It was very sunny and breezy. The staff was courteous, respectful and knowledgeable. I recommend it for anyone.
Awesome place to go good food and drinks lots to see and friendly. A shame that covid has shut some places down for good but still a lot to see. Got to love are greeks cause they love us or they wouldnt make such awesome food.
What a great area to visit. Bought some fresh all natural sponges fresh cut. Thanks to Sophie what a great lady .
A really fun stop. A must see once. Its fun to learn about various sponges and load up on Greek food and snacks. If your searching for souvenirs, this is the place to go. Alright if you dont care for Greek food, youll be disappointed to find that is the only selection around. But definitely visit the first sponge store on the street and watch the video to learn how they collect them. Awesome way to learn something fun.
This was an unexpected stop on our road trip! Im glad we were told to check it out! We purchased some lovely sponges and soaps and tried some Greek pastries! We will definitely be back and try on of the Greek restaurants in the area!
Very interesting fun place with the feel of just being at home. Everyone welcoming and fellow tourist are incredible.
Great tourist area! Lots of souvenirs, restaurants, bakeries and of course sponges. The area is friendly and pleasant.
Always a great place to bring visitors, they can shop for souvenirs and clothes and get a great authentic greek meal at about any of the restaurants. Also the shrimp boats are a charm
Always enjoy taking a walk and seeing all the shops and eating at Mamas restaurant yummy. Next to the water where they dive for sponges and sell there. For extra treat there was a bakery with large assortment of cakes and pastries had a chocolate and raspberries my favorite combo. Do not be fearful of going out. These merchants need our help to stay open, if not; they will disappeared. As far as myself I cover m face wash my hand before and after leaving . Life goes on,dont let fear paralyze our way of living. Just my opinion. PS there are others small interesting stores I didnt mentioned.
Beautiful scenery and excellent Greek restaurants & bakeries. We had lunch here and loved it. Absolutely delicious food at Hallas greek restaurant. We got the lamb appetizer and a Greek platter with a gyro that was amazing! Later we stopped by their huge bakery and couldnt decide what we wanted so we got an assortment of goodies. All were excellent especially the German chocolate cherry cake and pastries. The shops were lovely too and we purchased many fairly priced souvenirs and sponges to take home. Fond memories and we will definitely return next time we are in Florida! Highly recommend a trip here, well woth the experience!
Very nice and friendly place just like the people
Had a great time. Lots of shops in the area. Went on a dolphin cruise with Spongeorama. Lots of cool stuff. Collecting shells on one of the keys was awesome.
Weather was great. Dolphin trip was great. They took time to get close so everyone could see them on both sides of the boat. Very friendly and knowledgeable.I would highly recommend this trip.
Loved the boardwalk, but not much activities were going on to give 5-STARS
Kitschy cool old Florida! Great places to eat and drink. Dont miss out on the sunset cruises, Greek food, special events and homemade olive oil based soaps.
One of the best little towns on the Gulf of Mexico. If you only have a few days to see the sights, make sure you dont miss this little gem! Traditionally Greek heritage Main Street with many delicious Greek restaurants! Shop after shop of perfect FL souvenirs or anything you need to decorate your home in the FL beach theme. Theres an enclosed shopping area in the traditional white & blue colors of Greece with a ship & fountain for great pics. Across the street is the sponge diver statue, a must take pic spot! Theres also daily dolphin cruises which is an adventure in itself!
Nice place to spend a few hours.
Tarpon Springs Sponge Docks - if you have never seen sponges freshly harvested and laid out to dry then this will be a very unique experience for you. The Greek food is terrific and my children felt like they walked into a Percy Jackson novel.
Great day, walking the sponge docks and stopping to eat at Hellas! Great service, great food!
Really great place to spend an afternoon. Good food, drinks, and everything you could want in one small block or so. I even found a lil coin dealer there, My bread was buttered. I gotta great deal on some Silver Maple leaves and walking liberties.
Nice place & great gifts. The sponges are so cool
Love the Sponge Dock..ShopKeepers are always friendly, quality is good..wine and wine tasting is always fun and sooo good. The Spice Shop near the end of the street is amazing..I could spend all day smelling and looking and always buy..they also have the best loose teas of all.flavors!!
This was a fun way to learn about the history of the industry. Doug the diver was personable and interesting. Would definitely recommend.
Love walking around all the unique shops, having lunch, just a great relaxing place
This was my first visit to Florida and to the Sponge Docks. I had an amazing experience at the shop called Tarpon Style Apparel Souviners runner by Miguel who was very helpful and very patient. I highly recommend this store which has wrest prices and great quality!Thank you Miguel for an amazing experience!
Its a good experience. Everyone is friendly and you can find some really good deals.
It is sad that the pandemic has decimated the business in the area but it is still a nice walk by the water and the Greek food continues to be excellent. we need to support (with all the health precautions) the stores and restaurants so the sponge docks comes back to normal.
Great choices of sponges, soaps candles, bath salts and cute wind chime planters
Our first time in Florida, wanted to stop at a restaurant with good reviews. we chose to go to Docks Waterfront.we got there, no one would tell us where we were supposed to sit. when we asked a waiter where to sit, he just stared at us. when we sat down, we waited a good 15 minutes for our waitress to even get our drinks, and another 30ish for our food. our drinks were watered down. food wasn’t worth the price. we still left a $10 tip, and then the waitress turned around and stole our card info and spent $60 on amazon. definitely do NOT recommend.
Nice history to the area. Great shops to pick up knickknacks. Costas restaurant had great food. Make sure to stop at the spice& tea store. Smells awesome. And also the Olive Oil store, many olive oils infused with herbs, fruits, etc. Smells amazing. Gives you great ideas how to pair with foods in different recipes.
I love walking up and down the boardwalk on the Tarpon Springs Sponge Docks, looking at all the different sponge boats. Sometimes you can even watch them unload the the sponges. There are lots of shops and restaurants along the boardwalk as well.If youd like to go out on a sunset cruise or day cruise to watch the Dolphins you can sign up with one of the many touring companies, right there on the boardwalk. My favorite restaurant to eat at is Hellas Greek Restaurant. There food is wonderful and they have an amazing Bakery with lots of sweets and pastries. I never leave without taking some home with me.At the end of April you have to go to the Tarpon Springs Greek Festival. Lots of artists, food and fun.
Wonderful walk around the historic village. Lots of good restaurants and fun shops.
What a great day! Enjoy the stroll down the street filled with shops of all kinds. Treats to eat, shopping of all kinds, Greek, Greek, Greek ... give yourself some time to go out on a sponge boat ride.
Fun community with unique shops, rich history, good views, and great food. Awesome Greek experience.
Beautiful day and plenty of stores that are open. Food as well as commodities .
Great little town, I always go to the sponge docks when I am in Palm Harbor visiting family. Dont forget to go to St. Michaels Church. ..light a candle....Rusty Bellys for lunch...
Always loved this area.Such nice people.A Real cool place to walk around, shop, and the Greek food, wow.
A great place to get some food, look at cool things, and shop! The Tarpon Springs Aquarium is worth the visit and the owners are awesome! Great hands on learning! But the vibe of the whole strip is wonderful.
Aside from. The constant barage from the coupon givers, its a nice relaxing walk with delicious food from the greek restaurants
Its a fun place to walk, eat or shop!!! Great atmosphere....lots of very good restaurants and bars...some with live music on the weekend.... boat charters.... Blocks and blocks of food and gift shops
Great place to visit. This Greek town has lots to offer. Hellas Restaurant and bakery have amazing food & the deserts are to die for. There are tours you can take to watch how they extract the sponges, other tours are for dolphin watching. You will see all over town stores selling all different kind of sponges as well as hand made all natural soaps with various scents made just for Tarpon Springs. During some festivals you can catch the towns people dancing & can join in.
The Sponge Diver Shop had nice apparel soaps and sponges and staff where very friendly and the Greek restaurants are the best!
I really enjoy a nice walk along the historic sponge docks in Tarpon springs. You can shop for souvenirs or if you are a cigar lover choose among theyre various brands and sizes. Some good restaurants with various menus for all tastes.
I grew up around the corner from here and its always been a great time. So many shops and food. Rusty bellies has fresh seafood and there are lots of bakeries. Also cant forget the dolphin cruises for the people that didnt grow up here its a great time.
I love Tarpon Springs. The downtown area is great for learning about the communitys sponge harvesting history and sampling some of the many Greek eateries, while watching the boats in the harbor. Local tip, parking is cheaper the further you drive down the main street and many of the restaurants have parking lots where you can park for free as long as you dine in their establishment. Enjoy!
We love the docks! Food and clothes are so cheap and such a good time with great people!
Lots of shops with a large variety of products. There are lots of restaurants and pubs with a good selection of cuisine. They offer deep sea fishing or sightseeing cruises. There is plenty of parking for three to five dollars per day. Great place to spend some time sightseeing and eating.
I live tarpon springs. So many cute little shops, great food. The little crosses are great

Love Tarpon Sponge Docks. Historic, great food, good people
Clean lots of variety fresh air no suffocating soap smells...
Fun day. Lots of FANTASTIC Greek eateries!!! I ate at Mamas and had their $10 gyro special. Omg..melts on your mouth...
If you need soap, sponges, or Greek food this is the best place in Florida to find it. I personally like the soaps. You cannot find many places that have nag champa scented soap!!
Beautiful. Fun. Get Cuban coffee!
Lovely place to walk around, see some sea sponges, eat some authentic Greek Giros and Baklava..had a great day there, plus parking lots very inexpensive for the whole day, will recommend this place.
Such a cute town to visit for a weekend trip. Spent a whole Saturday here. We were able to take a 1 hour boat tour along the river. So many Greek restaurants to choose from for lunch and dinner. A lot of beautiful shops down the road. And of course you have to purchase a couple of sea sponges for your trip back home.
We love this place, we do. The salty smell of the sea, the fishing boats and the food! Greek food! Many years ago Greek immigrants settled there and their main activity was to dive for sponges. Its quaint and only about an hours drive from Tampa.
Super fun. A place to go even if ya dont have the money. Water view, dolphins abd boats.
This place is awesome and has alot of history....only down side is that the shops all have the same stuff for sale.
Its a nice place to go hang out for the day great food and good shopping.
