I drove up here from North Miami Beach just to go to this park and Greenway. It was sad to see the owl and little bird protected areas rope fencing in such run down shape. The owl breeding area, I picked up the pole with the sign and rope attached to it and did my best to stand it back up (it wont last) and the other roped in breeding area for the little birds was in worse shape. I couldnt fix the rope, pole and sign at that one. Hopefully the city will fix these two areas to help insure the creatures survival. The landscapers were there during my visit. They were in such a hurry they dug up the grass and mud with their mower tires. Nice Greenway though and I did enjoy the sub sandwich I brought with me at one of the small pavilions there. Sorry about complaining, I do appreciate the space provided to us there.

This is a great place for a casual walk. Along the c14 canal with beautiful views. Always clean! Three different parking lots and two of them have access to public restrooms. Theres a nice little playground for kids close to one of them. Roped off areas throughout this park to protect the burrowing owls that love to make an appearance and even pose for you. This is also the beginning of the Cypress Trail which runs all the way to the Atlantic. I frequently see bikes on the trail but not so many that it upsets my yorkie while were walking.

1 East Everglades on West Southgate Blvd. in Tamarac Florida, this open area makes great use under the Big Power Lines. Dog Browning approved.

I like coming to this place with my friends to hang out, but the last few times I’ve come have been utterly terrible. I’ve spotted mice there a few time, which is really disgusting and the bathrooms are always locked even though I’m there when it says it should still be open. I like the park but maintenance has to be way better.

Excellent public park for walking, running or biking. One side of park is straight with the other side twisting. Overall length is about half a mile one way. Complete circuit is over a mile. If longer is needed, just cross the main road to the next park segment. The park is the power companys right of way along the canal.

Tephford Park is named after police officer Brian Tephford who was killed in Tamarac in 2006 while conducting a traffic stop. The park that bears his name was dedicated in 2008.The park is the start of the Cypress Creek Greenway, 16.5 miles of paved paths that lead from the edge of the Everglades in Tamarac down to the ocean in Pompano. The part of the path in the park parallels Southgate Boulevard on one side and C-14 Canal on the other and continues for nearly 3 miles under power lines. The actual linear park is 1.5 miles with three parking lots that are spaced along the perimeter. This makes it an ideal spot for runners and bikers and I saw a lot of people doing both on my visit. Other park amenities include a playground with childrens rock climbing wall, fishing pier, picnic pavilions, benches, and restrooms although they were locked when I checked. In addition to all of the things that make this park great for humans it is also popular with burrowing owls as well. All along the path were areas roped off for burrowing owls. Although I didnt see any actual owls I saw a lot of signs alerting to their presence. This park is great for runners, bikers, and walkers, as well as families who are just looking for a place to take the kids to run around. At the park dedication Brian Tephfords widow expressed how grateful she was to have this park as a memorial to her childrens father. Although they are probably grown now the park remains to honor a man who lost his life in the line of duty. Its a sacrifice that should never be forgotten.

Big, open space, but there are no trees and as a result it gets unbearably hot. Visit early in the day or late in the evening. Otherwise prepare to sweat.
