New hotel. Pretty clean, room was a little dusty. Located between the hood and the very nice inner harbor. Parking is across the street, we were told that the parking was guarded at night. Didnt observe that for myself.

As the central hub in 1892 for the exporting of NaCl, known to the commoners as salt, an incredible nine million bushels were transported out to the nation from this harbor along the Erie Canal. As valuable as gold during the great civil war that was tearing at the seams of this fledgling country Syracuse, once known as Salt City, was the major source of this valuable commodity.Though the salt evaporating sheds and warehouses have long vanished from the surrounding area, the Inner Harbor remains. Currently the Inner Harbor is undergoing a revitalization effort that will, instead of exporting salt, import people to new venues of entertainment, hotels, retail, and restaurants. The Onondaga Creekwalk crosses along the western bank of the harbor providing access to the Inner Harbor, from downtown Syracuse and the Destiny USA mall, the symbol to American disposable commercialism; see my review on Destiny USA.

The area serves as an enjoyable area for an occasional concert or other event in the summer but year-round also serves as an access point to the creek walk. This area is a great spot to watch for waterfowl and Eagles throughout the year. A pair of Osprey nest nearby and can frequently be seen stopping by to grab a fish for lunch or to pick up a stick for their ever expanding nest.

Always a nice walk. They put in a lot of interpretative signs up explaining the history and ecology of the area. A good short cut for walking or bikes through the city connecting the lakefront and mall to the harbor to the center of the city. Connects to parks and has lovely plants and wildlife.

I went to the wing fest, it was really nice people were mingling kids were playing. They had a lot of different chicken wings they also had a few different truck food vendors. Only negative was when we got ready to cross the street to get to the harbor the cars were not stopping to let us cross and it was like that when we left.

Spent a weekend in late June in the Inner Harbor area and my wife and I had a great time. We have not been there since the Aquarium had just opened so we were amazed at the changes. Walked the whole area from our Inner Harbor hotel to Fells Point to Federal HIll. Enjoyed the views, the people, and the several little fairs going on during the weekend. If you can, walk as much of the area as possible. You see so much more and parking is difficult anyway. Congrats to the city of Baltimore and anyone involved in the revitalization of the area. Well done.

It desperately needs some TLC. Rain/flower gardens were dry cracked earth with a few brave plants fighting the good fight. The deck scared the hell out of me. Rotted planks, with patches of new pieces, a few of them pulling up. On the positive, it allowed me to decompress after being downtown and it was quiet

Im sure youve heard by now how this WAS at one point considered the most polluted lake in America which at one point was true but is no longer the case. It is going through an extensive lake wide cleanup that has been very effective and has contributed to revitalization in the area with hotels being built and festivals being held here regularly. Due to the fact that there are strict guidelines on consuming the fish (just dont do it) most fisherman return their catch which means that this is a great fishing spot with abundant diversity with fish that grow very big (I have been fishing here for 7 yrs) there is a picnic area and an awesome walking trail and a pier for boats and people to stroll on. I highly recommend it I believe youll be pleasently surprised.

The inner harbor has come a long way since I first started living here 15 years ago. Having said that, there is still a long ways to go before it is anything more than a novelty. The creek walk that takes you to the inner harbor is a fun walk/run path that I enjoy taking for my runs. Once you get to the harbor itself, the small amphitheater is a nice touch and there is a path that leads you essentially to the mall that has a couple of attempted seasonal gardens, which would be nice if somebody were to actually take of them.
