Great park. Tons of green space. Rose garden, pool, splash pad, amphitheater, playground, football field. Located right next to the university. Lots of options. Many people use the grounds for running and walking since there is a continuous loop featured throughout the property. Also a great view from the high point near the tower. This location offers new adventures every visit.

Very nice park on top a hill in Syracuse with a huge swimming pool. There are public exercise machines too for free all and a playground for kids. There are basketball courts, tennis courts, a football field, an open theater, and a beautiful rose garden. Smoking is not allowed in this park which is better for everyone to stay healthy.

It was Shakespeare in the park. I prayed and it was so uplifting and encouraging. Even though its been many years coming to this park. I loved this day most besides years ago enjoying the view, old football games, and taking my little sister years ago when we was young.

Rose Garden is nice, but at the beginning of August has minimal flowers left. Up the hill from there is a beautiful one surrounded by flowers. The park is in good shape, with a well endowed play structure down the one-way road that runs down it. As you exit the park there is a good sized pool that seems well maintained. Looks like they have Yoga in the park on Sunday 8am

A fantastic park that is so many places. There are little ponds and picnic spots that are out of sight then found in a short walk off the beaten path. We took my daughters prom pics here. The rose garden was not in bloom but we found a pond with lilies and wildflowers. I practice martial arts here with friends and attended a presentation of Shakespeare in the Park. A great destination whether your a local or tourist.

This is a humongous park. However, I found only one parking for the whole park, right in front of its beautiful swimming pool. However, we can do a lot of hikes here and kids have a lot of playground material. There are basket nets for older kids. There is also a Lily Pond. All we need to do is to follow the stairs and you see a lovely Lily Pond. Beautiful! The best park of this park is their amazing roses of different shapes and colors. I spent there more than an hour. And more time to admire the Lily Pond and exploring this park. So beautiful! It’s truly worthwhile to visit!

Having worked golf course maintenance and landscaping for MANY years, I can say that this park is immaculately groomed and taken care of. I cannot put into adequate words the splendor of this free and public park. Its one of the best kept secrets of Syracuse. Honestly, if youre looking for an expansive, elegant green space suited for all purposes, you WILL NOT find a better place. Please check Thornden Park out. For me, one of the deciding factors in choosing a place to live was the proximity to Thornden Park... it really is -that good-.

Thornden Park is adjacent to the Syracuse University area, and if you approach it from that direction, you might have trouble finding a legal parking place at times. This is unfortunate, because the Mills Rose Garden is at that end of the park, and in the summer (especially June) it is quite nice. But Ive been there at times when the only legal parking to be found was at the extreme other end of the park, near the pool. This is a reflection of the parks popularity. In addition to the rose garden and the pool, there are picnic areas, a playground, basketball courts, and an amphitheater where summer productions can occasionally be found. Theres a lily pond across the street from the rose garden, and a football field. The one-way road around the park has a spur that leads up to a water tower, and its worth a visit as the view up there is kind of nice. There are bike lanes along the road, but the road is kind of steep so if you arent a strong biker, you might end up walking your bike uphill in spots.

Great park for fun activities such as swimming in the pool, playing basketball/any sports and also just hanging out or having a picnic. Very close to SU and ESF and the Westcott area. They host shakespehere in the park during the summer and have a beautiful rose garden. They have a great outdoor amphitheater and can even host weddings! Whatever bad rep this park may have it cant be as bad as any other place at night- be safe and/or be in groups. During the day this place is a syracuse gem and should be filled during all seasons! The more that people are out there enjoying parks and nature, the better for the community, the park, and the well being of us all. Get out and play!!! :) Ill see you there!
