Such a gem and well preserved. The tour guides are so knowledgeable and I was fascinated with everything she said! The interior is just beautiful!

This was a fun stop on our vacation in superior! Was also reasonably priced. Only reason I would give 4 stars instead of 5 is because our tour guide talked liked she was reading out of a book. First time I came here our guide seemed more knowledgeable and gave more stories about the actual patterson family. Otherwise I totally recommend!!

Beautiful early 20th century building, in an amazing town. Fairlawn Mansion was built for a wealthy family who appreciated arts and culture, business, and the father of the household even being a member of the Oddfellows. Later, it was turned into a childrens home, before becoming what it is now, a museum and historical site. The architecture and unique art inside the building is amazing, a real time capsule of elegance from another age. The tour was a little rushed, I believe mostly because we are a group of about 12. Not a lot of time to take photographs, and the home is also not ADA accessible past the bottom floor of the building. Would recommend!

Very beautiful house. Unfortunately only the 1st floor looks like it may have 100+ years ago. The upper levels were partially being used as offices and meeting rooms. No access to the basement for safety reasons. Very little original furniture. Certainly an interesting place to visit, but its very different from the Congdon residence.

Reserve this fancy mansion for CHEAP. The wife and I were married here, did I mention very inexpensive, incredibly accommodating. The ghost(s) didnt come to play unfortunately, the family did and our good friend David unite us for good.

Only reason its not 5 stars is that there is a bit of restoration still needed. So help then out and donate over the admission/to price. My your guide Valerie did a great job! To takes about 45 minutes. Very interesting family story which you hear about in the second floor...

I did like it but I wish more of it was open to the public. Our tour guide was a little strange and not dressed in period clothing like the website said. Still it was a nice house.

Great view of the fireworks display on the 4th, beautiful museum right off the highway, easy to get to, impossible to miss. Best part is Barkers Island across the highway, great swimming beach, mini golf, and lots of events during the summer.

I usually love stops at Fairlawn, and particularly enjoyed their Superstition Tour a few nights before Halloween this year. Unfortunately our tour guide on that tour was disinterested, and abandoned half our group on the top floor.I will still visit and hope the usual staff will be in attendance for events like that.

We did the flashlight tour at Fairlawn. Very interest, informative and enjoyable. Guides were dressed at members of the Pattison family, and shared their stories in various rooms. They shared old Victorian superstitions as well. Fun Friday the 13th event!

This is an interesting place for a wedding. My advice would be to jump all over this place if youre having a small wedding, with mild mannered guests. Its a fairly somber place (it is a historic place). Its layout doesnt lend itself to be able to connect with guests becuase of the odd layout

The house has an interesting history. An unpretentious tour of the house tells of what it is and what it is not; including recent past, continued restoration and how that effects the house and ultimate goal. A great place to experience in Superior!

The work that has been done on the rooms that have been renovated is top notch. Unfortunately many of the rooms have yet to be renovated which leaves you wondering what the mansion would really have been like in its prime. However its well worth taking the time to tour this lovely Mansion and Museum.

Older than Glensheen, and is more relaxing and cozy.I had attended a tour at Glensheen in Duluth and they mentioned the Fairlawn Mansion being older. So I was intrigued and skipped across the Blatnick bridge and made my way to Fairlawn. Easy access from 2nd Street. It was off tourist season (Late April) and I happened to arrive in between tour times and was able to meet the director while I looked in the gift shop. She was very friendly. My tour guide was very informative and knew her information well.Previous reviews have noted that tour guides were not up to speed with their knowledge, and the response was that newer recruits were being trained in because more seasoned guides graduated and moved away. I would say that problem has been fixed based on the tour I received. I apologize I cannot remember her name but she did a fantastic job!On the third floor they have a replica of the SS Meteor which was donated. I am looking forward to partaking of that tour soon. That museum a stones throw from the Mansion. Pair it with a picnic on Barkers Island and you have a recipe for a fun day!I enjoyed all the floors of the mansion. It would be neat to see a nook and cranny tour to borrow Glensheens naming package. For instance, I would pay again for a different tour to be able to ascend to the widows peak tower, and other places not available on a normal tour. The cost for the tour is cheaper than Glensheen which is a plus.Overall, a wonderful place to stop. Dont let negative reviews of this place turn you away.
