A beautiful view! It seems very isolated and not heavily visited. Parking was plentiful and free. Each overlook had a bathroom. Don’t miss the Indian burial grounds. It was also free to go here. I wish I had spent more time here.
This is a lighthouse for adventures and homeless people. At land there is really nice parking, a functional bathroom and a decent beach. To get to the lighthouse however, you need to hike across a few hundred feet of large rocks, which is fun to be perfectly honest, but it isnt what I expected. There are remnants of what looks to be walkway anchors and there are blankets in small caves for homeless people, which isnt a big deal to the average visitor. The lighthouse itself looks better from a distance, because when you get up close you see nothing but broken glass and graffiti. However the views are definitely worth it, as you can see the island from the northern end, and you get a pretty good view of Duluth as well lake Superior itself. For a place that is over 100 years old, its still holding up well enough to be worth seeing.
This is a fantastic area, with great views, primarily about the lighthouse: from close, or far, you can see it quite clear. If youre able, and feel intrepid, and the weather is not inclimate you can travel across the rocks and visit the lighthouse exterior safely! From there you have some fantastic all around views of the taconite (iron) ore docks and the portals for Superior into Lake Superior! You also have a great view of the beach area, and various boats and water activities, and sometimes some great cloud peeping.*Please do not try to scale out on the rocks during winter time, it would be extremely trying, and possible you could bring harm to life and limb!*
Nice walk to the light house. Glad I didnt break a foot but it was fun.
Nice little hike across a rock path great view of lake superior
Hear place to wander, ample parking, multiple rest room facilities in the area
Dont plan on getting close if you have kids or any mobility issues. Its a dangerous walk since the walkway is gone.
Better check the Lighthouse out while you can because it was sold to a tech guy from San Francisco, so you might not have many more chances to walk out to it + Wisconsin Point is the best beach in my opinion!
In A Nutshell:-Wisconsin Point is cool to check out b/c it sits on Lake Superior.-There was no one there when I checked it out.-After parking, you walk about 100 yards out along the rocks and concrete deck to the lighthouse.-You wont see any crabs, but you do see millions of spiders.-So if you are afraid of spiders, I wouldnt walk to the lighthouse.Overall, its still a pretty nice view especially on a calm day w/ good weather.
We Love going here every year to Check it out
Peaceful sound of waves on the beach and away from the crowd.
Great views and so peaceful.
View is nothing less then amazing
Great adventure walking the rocks out to the lighthouse!
Beautiful location.
The water and views are beautiful. Fun to go visit a lighthouse. Can view from shore or climb out there and see it. Not for those that are not steady on their feet!
A beautiful little lighthouse nestled way out into the waters of northern Wisconsin. Not much to see but would be a great picnic spot if you dont mind walking the rocks out there! Definitely not for children but definitely anyone looking for an adventure and a nice breath of fresh air!
This is a cool area to see while in Superior. It was an easy drive 15 minutes outside of town to get to the lighthouse. Plenty of beaches and shoreline to stop and sit at along the way. Shorelines would be easy to get to for all ages young or small. However to get to this lighthouse you will have to be willing to hike 300+ yards along big boulders and rock to reach the lighthouse. My wife, my 5 year old daughter and even myself passed on this idea. Did not want to slip, roll an ankle or anything else. Could be fun walk / hike for young boys (10yrs and older) to use up some energy. Beautiful area....
Wear something wind proof. Great walk out to the lighthouse but its across rocks so shoes with good grip are essential.
Nice beach.
Beautiful place!!
Very very very nice!!
Beautiful and an awesome view of the lake. Got to watch a boat come into harbor. 4 stars only because of the graffiti on the tower.
Beautiful place
As a local REALTOR, I will say I love this town no matter what...But this is one of the things I love about this area. This is probably the most photographed lighthouse, and there is a reason for it. Yes people party down there. Yes there is stuff on the beach and bonfires going. Yes the walk on the rocks is tricky and long. It is beautiful and worth every second. Enjoy what this area offers. Everything is what you make of it. Now go walk down there!
Good exercise Thats a lot of big rocks on the way out to the lighthouse
Cool
Renovations being done for easy access
Always doing a great job
Beautiful lighthouse on a beautiful beach. The only downfall is that it seems to be quite the party spot for youth to have bonfire parties on the beach and they leave messes behind. But if you can look past that you’ll see the beauty here.
Some of the best fishing around the Duluth superior area
Pretty disappointing hike here.I dont often discourage people from seeing places in our home state, but this one Id avoid. The photo doesnt match the cover of the Chamber of Commerce magazine. In addition, every window was broken, there were cans inside of those broken windows, and a very strong ammonia smell...Not worth the quarter mile hike across large boulders. Best seen from afar. :-(
Loved the drive in, the fall colors were amazing and several pull off areas to see a lot of great things!
Stunning in the sunset!
Very awesome experience great place to walk around an do some hiking on rocks
Probably not for the faint of heart. Be aware that the total walk from the parking lot is 1700ft and the section of boulders is over 1000ft long. Not to discourage you, but just so you are aware, it can be a bit of a walk out involving large gaps between boulders and very uneven footing. Probably not safe for kids younger than teenagers unless it is an especially calm day. Going on a windy day, you realize how exposed you are and how far of a walk it is. Because the lighthouse is straight ahead, you also never really get a good view of the whole shape.-If you want to take pictures, the Minnesota side at the end of park point probably makes more sense
Great place to visit. Nice drive out to the lighthouse on Superior Point Road. Great for walking the shoreline.
Nice place, except for the vandalism.
Serene. Bald eagle sightings. Whats not to like?
Enough preservation of days gone past very well kept up it look nice driving by it in the harbor
Great walk over the rocks
Great place for the kids if theyre big enough to traverse the rock walkway to the lighthouse
Little Windy
Such great views! Gorgeous
Great place to walk along the lake, especially beautiful in early October.
Dirty beach. Lighthouse is covered in graffiti and beer cans. Dont bother going here.
Awesome place to walk along the shore
Broken glass all over, rocks are huge to climb to get there. Not worth it.
My hometown
Excellent place to be !!!!!!!
