*this is a county park, it costs $7 for the day to park*This park has a lot of sandy beach front, but you do need to walk down a sizeable set of stairs to get to the beach (bring the cooler with the wheels.) There is a fair amount of space in the grass and trees to throw a ball or frisbee, but it would be a pretty tight space for a game of football. There is a fishing dock on one side of the beach, and a fairly large boat landing on the other side. There is a changing room and bathroom with flush toilets (wear shoes, its was pretty icky in there.)This park is wheelchair accessible. I didnt see any signs, so I did some exploring and found there are two handicap reserved parking spots at the boat landing. You need to drive through the standard parking and follow the road about 1/4-1/2 mile around and down the hill.

Ive been going there for the last 44 years. First with my husband, on our first date, then with our kids from birth through grade school with their friends. Now the boys have their own families, and we are still going up there to swim and picnic! Love the beach, the lakes clarity, and the size. My husband passed away 4 years ago, but hes there with us every time we go. He started the whole tradition.

Very nice beach with a lot of shoreline and space. Modern restrooms and porta-potties. The boat launch has two lanes, but its a very narrow space that could be difficult to turn around when its full. Also due to its narrowness, it gets kind of cramped when people are bringing their paddleboards, kayaks, and canoes. I think it was $7 to park. We were there on a Sunday, and there was a no-wake period before noon as well as no-wake after 4pm. Combine that timeframe with the lake size, it gets a little cramped when there are 4 or more boats tubing or doing other watersports. Overall, nice lake, nice beach, but weird rules and kinda small. Id likely go again.

Love the place, very clear water and good spots for fishing but one issue I experienced was that DOGS ARE NOT ALLOWED. Sucked because I brought my dog and an officer had to come to tell us that dogs are not allowed on the park or in the water and that my dog needs to leave. Our dog had to be in the car with the hot heat but didn’t bear to stay for long so we left. I may be missing it but no where on the site says that dogs are not allowed or at the park.

Great beach with lots of shade trees and picnic tables nearby. Nice and shallow for awhile and has lifeguards and bathrooms. County parks cost $7 for a day pass or $35? for a whole year (I think... double check on that it may change). The downside is that there are a lot of stairs from the parking lot down to the beach. Not very accessible for strollers or wheelchairs unless you drop them off at the boat trailer lot and then go park in an approved area. Big Marine Park/Lake is more accessible and has a huge playground but has almost no shade.

Well it definitely is a pretty spot- and a perfect area for a triathlon as well. The beach area is very clean and the whole park is overall welcoming and quaint.Plenty of spots for a picnic, places to relax, swim, and of course paths to bike and run on nearby. Will be back for the triathlon again next year, but may try to stop up for a lake day or something too.

Great beach and clear lake. Very large and spacious. Only disappointment was how restrictive they are - no water toys, floats, or even noodles. And every hour they clear the water for at least 10 minutes for a safety check. Im glad theyre safe, but it seems way above and beyond most beaches.

The beach is very enjoyable as long as you have friends there with you. There are bathrooms and changing rooms as well. The only downside is that on weekends is that it is kind of crowded as a lot of people want to go swimming. Also they have safety checks every hours on the hour where everyone has to get out of the water for about 15 minutes.

Beautiful lake and beach. Would be great for get togethers, as they have grills, tables and just plenty of space. Seemed pretty quiet. We were there on a Saturday and there was a life guard on duty, not sure if there always is, but thats always nice! Only bad thing: $7 for parking....... I get it, but also its $7 for however long, so not an ideal place if you dont plan to spend quite a bit of time.

Square Lake is of the most beautiful and clear lakes in Minnesota. After living in Minnesota for more than five years, I finally discovered this place - Square Lake should be on everyones do to list. Bring your goggles and fins because there are so many fishes to see. Plus there are plenty of grills, picnic tables and restrooms - even a nice size dock to fish from. Parking is $8 or you can buy an annual pass for around $30.

Review №92

Square Lake Park is a great place to swim and take the family for cookouts. Be warned, if you are out of shape, you may have a tough time getting up and down the hill from the parking lot, but then again, you may want to come here for a good hills workout. The water is clear - very clear. They do need more picnic tables and grills. People sometimes wait for hours to get a picnic table.

Jo

Great little lake and beach area that is kid-friendly. As others mentioned, there are quite a few beach rules. This is both blessing and curse; its not a free-for-all but can be a little restrictive on the fun-scale. Our family enjoys bringing our canoe here, enjoying a paddle, and finishing with a swim. Its a perfect size lake for me to teach my 6-year old to paddle a canoe and swim without him getting overwhelmed or bored.

Square lake is our go to beach! It is simply lovely and well kept. Clean lake and a big and clean beach with nice facilities for showering and restrooms. They have picnic areas under the trees which provide perfect shade. It is awesome! We love it. However they dont allow any floaties, noodles or baby floats or anything like that which is a bummer when you have kiddos. It would also be great to have a small concession stand for treats and small food items.
