Everything very clean. Nice place to spend the day with the family. I wish the swimming area on the East side had sand and better location.
Camped on a weekend. This place is great! Was not busy. Found a good spot for when it gets busy and you still feel like your by yourself. Bathroom are clean. The only complaint, which is not the park’s fault, the roads leading to the park are in rough shape. Need to go slow when pulling a camper. The wildlife is in abundance. Most definitely recommend this place!!
Drove right up to the pavilion. Parking was off the road. Pavilion was right across from the restrooms. Swimming area is a very short walk from here. Somewhat handicapped accessible. Drive is gravel but pavilion is paved as well as the sidewalk leading to it. You can park right in front of the sidewalk. It had rained the night before our arrival. We should have brought a broom as the pavilion doesnt drain all the water.
A great area with great trails and campsites. Could do with minor improvements to amenities and utilities, though.
Great, clean camping areas with miles of trails for biking/hiking. Friendly staff at the park office/ bait shop/store. Annual pass membership or day use.
One of the best sunset places in Stillwater. Very calm and serene.
Great place but they did not clean the bathrooms the whole weekend.
Just the right amount of people, if you go early theres noone!
Very clean and well maintained! Better than blackwell in my opinion. Love the disk golf course and the hiking trails.
Great place to ride your bike or walk on dirt trails. Lots of wildlife around if you walk early or late. You may see deer, bobcats, coyotes, raccoons, opossums, turkeys, quail and many other wildlife species. Just be sure to use tick spray in the summer months and be watchful for our reptile friends. Timber rattlers and copperheads are in the area but I seldom see them.
A very good place to visit to relax and calm your nerves down.
I gave it 5 stars . I love it !!! Good camping, good fishing, good swimming, it is pretty and I really enjoyed it.
Dont expect to get in the primitives in a Honda Civic! Better come prepared with a truck or Jeep.
When I was at OSU going to Lake McMurty was one of my favorite things to do. I made so many memories there. When I come back to Stillwater, I always go out to McMurtry and sit on the dock. This place has a special spot in my heart.
Been camping here for years. Still awsome
Lake Mcmurtry has wonderful frisbee golf courses in an incredibly beautiful area!
Was great. Just no showers for tent campers
Great place to visit for the day or to camp at! RV hookups and tent sites. Great dock to fish off of as well.
Great lake with trails and frisbee golf. We like to RV camp there, but if you want nice bathrooms and showers you have to be picky about which side of the lake you park on and theyre really hard to come by. Id love to see them update the RV part on the east side as it is a beautiful place to camp. It seems like theyve been trying to update a few things in the last few years so well see. FYI we are stayed at site number 2 twice (west side) and both times we had an issue with one plug in but the maintenance man said it was fine even though it didnt work.
Beautiful area, nice walking/biking trails. Camping in an RV or tent you cant go wrong. You can swim in the lake, fish or even rent paddle boards and kayaks. Pet friendly. The park also offers frisbee golf. We really enjoy camping here!
Great little place to swim, kyak, and fish
Best place to swim and fish for miles!
Excellent weekend w family.
Nice place to visit for potluck/picnic/quick stroll. The place is very popular for fishing.
Not that big of a lake. Only one swimming area. Not much fun.
A wonderful event at Christmastime. Such family fun!
Gave Red trail a try for the first time - loved it!
Usually nice and quiet. West side RV spots are decent and reservations are accepted which is a huge plus. The spots are gravel and not paved which doesnt bother me. The fact that they are way off level is disappointing. The auto leveling system on my RV doesnt offer enough lift to get my rig completely level so I just have to deal with it. The lake is only about 1 hour from Edmond so perfect for a weekend getaway.
We went right after the flooding, so getting to the lake was a pain, once we got there it was nice and relaxing, the other people in rvs were nice. The only thing I didnt like was that I needed a wye valve for the water because it is shared. Didnt state that on the website.
This one of my favorite lakes to visit. Its clean, well maintained, the people are friendly, the fishing is good and there is usually toilet paper in the restrooms.
Gorgeous lake and scenery!!
It was peaceful, and very nice. We are coming back more often. Thank you.
Stillwater, Oklahoma, great camping fish, swim eat roasted marshmallows. Doing it again next year.
Very nice place we got checked in, all by the lady cleaning bathroom shes very helpful. Very sweet lady. Highly recommended for family camping.
Ive been camping at the east side for a couple days and for the cheap price it is fine. The staff is very friendly, the campsites are large and clean and the surrounding area is beautiful. The only downsides are that there are no showers at the east side (they mention it at their website, so thats nothing to complain about) and the bathroom is not always very clean. But thats not really a problem if you only want to stay there for a few days. In general I can recommend Lake McMurtry Park.
Always a nice place to visit
Amazing trail system with four trails systems... yellow is amazing fun technical trail fun rocky up and down hill sections... red has some amazing flow to it with some amazing down hill sections and some good up hills switch backs and blue is a great beginners trail as well as orange even tho orange trail is little more advanced then the blue and has a great connector trail it’s the green trail that ties them all together nicely
Very quiet area with 4 good mt. biking/hiking/running trails, clean campgrounds, friendly staff, quiet lake with no speed boats. Normally fishing is quite good. Many primitive sites have lake shore access. Day pass is 6 bucks but a yearly permit is reasonable and allows free primitive camping with or without reservation and is paid for with a few trips
Had a good time trying to catch fish with a group of we know what were doing fisherman club. :-) Nice facilities
Beautiful scenery, quiet, and peaceful. Camped with my wife for our honeymoon
This could easily be a 5 star review but for a few things. 1st, there are no grills at a lot of the tent camping spots on the West side. 2nd many of the fire rings dont have grills on them. The grill at my campsite was in poor shape. Such a shame in a place with so much potential! Its one of my favorite places to camp.
Yellow trail, excellent for everyone, a lot of spider web, some deers really close to the trail, love it. And all the trail is marked
Its a beautiful lake. I love it here. The swimming area however was loaded with fishing rods this last time we went. There are only a few areas where its safe to get into the lake and when a third of it was covered in fishing poles, thats a problem. There is a big sign that says Swimming Area No Fishing.Just beware that unless you feel like trying to climb over a massive wall to get into the lake to swim, youre at the mercy of fisherman who cant read signs
We always enjoy our weekends here.
Its peaceful here! Love the wildlife!
Great lake
Looks like they are improving the facilities, but they could stand to stock some fish in the lake based on my last 5 or 6 fishing trips there.
Love the west side as we camp there yearly. It is more primitive but offers fishing areas around the campsites, a fishing dock, little store that sells bait and some snack items. Electric and water hook ups are available in the RV spots. There is also a nice swimming area too. I would live there year around if I could.
Clean, great camp hosts beautiful lake.
Love this lake!
Great place! 50 amp on the west side. Dump site is not level. No sewer beside dump station. Fits our 36ft. Water and power are oddly located per site. Water is at the front of our site on the wrong side and our electric is at the rear on the wrong side....but didnt stop the ability to connect. We havent checked the east side dump station or sites during this review.
Nice trail system.
We love it so much here that we got married here. Its the right amount of secluded, yet still populated enough to make you feel part of a community. Beware the Cottonmouth snakes swimming across the water if youre swimming on the Perry side. Weve never seen them on the Stillwater side. Do yourself a favor and get a yearly pass to this beautiful place so you can always enjoy camping, cooking out, swimming, hiking, fishing, kayaking, disk golf, and whatever else you like to do.
Spent one night here. Seems a bit dated in some spots, but that certainly gives it charm! The lake is beautiful, we saw a bunch of geese and ducks. Id recommend this to friends!
It was a good hike, and a fun time with the kids. Sometimes you gotta get dirty! Take a hike!
Fantastic recreation area! The West side of the lake has camping and access to mention bike trails. The trails are intermediate with lots of winding singletrack with a few difficult ascents and descents. Very fun trails with over 25 miles in total. The east side of the lake has trail access as well with the added benefit of a full 18 pin disc golf course (havent tried it yet, but looks pretty open with some trees and hazards as well), and a swim area along with more camping. Only 6 bucks for the day, very worth it!
It is great place to kiyak in Stillwater area
Quiet and clean
Its a great place to swim and go fishing
Great scenery, challenging trails, average bathrooms.
Great fun with the wife, son and dog!
Lovely place to come woth friends
So tranquil and lovely!
Went hiking with the grand kids. Lots of fun!
Small but beautiful lake
+++++If your a local or know the areaThe fee is reasonable. $6+.Depending on if you have an aquatic vehicle also.+++++ Friendly PeopleThe road is mostly 100% pavedSmall cars always watch for pot holes in area#isthepoolopenyet
Loved the friendly staff and lake!
The west side is awesome
This place was awesome! There is so much to do. I cannot think of anything I would want to do at a reservoir that this place did not offer. Plus, free WiFi for the kiddos!
I love this park! Its a little further but definitely worth the drive. Hiking is great and so many pretty water views.
The bike trails are amazing!! The yellow is by far my favorite! Technical areas but also flowy!
It is great to have family time
Pretty scenery. Nice facilities. Great mountain bike trails - easy to moderate. difficulty. They did cut some new trails (still covered in grass), which are prone to having cactus in the middle of them. So beware!
The best place ever!!!!!!! I wish I could spend more time there hiking camping fishing and Frisby golf you could be busy for days
Great Park with a little of everything for everyone. Disc golf courses x2, beaches for swimming, camping sites, hiking trails, bike trails, gazebo areas for gatherings, and much more. The water quality isnt the best though. Its pretty typical for oklahoma lakes.
I love this place, it has all kinds of hiking/biking trails. Its a new adventure and memories everytime I come
Bad roads getting to park everything else is good .water the park road is good, deer, turkey, restrooms..ice...
Its a good outdoor area. The winding roads are a little over bearing, but it is nice and simple out there.
Beautiful area, large expanse, 5/car is not too bad and the rest of the prices are good. Great for parties camping or reserving an area for ur function. I called every lake around here to see if they had a try it out free and all the others said no. Lake mcmurtry has my business!
Great trails for mountain bikes or to take dogs. Swimming and camping as well as fishing are popular activities here. Bring ypur boat amd use the public slip.
Fantastic, private, primitive sites with direct lake access that are delightfully dappled with sunlight. Beautiful, tall trees and exciting trails.
Very relaxing and peaceful
Disc golf course was nice, very well maintained.
One of my favorite hang outs. Just peaceful out there
Hiked the red and green trails today. Red trail doesnt have any real views of the lake, though it is a pretty trail. Yellow tail has better views.
Its nice
