Totally awesome place! Theres a whole bunch of museums here and we get into all of them with the Dr Seuss entrance fee. My two and five year olds loved it. Definitely worth coming to and I would say worth making a out of the way trip for! There is no excuse not to stop here if youre driving by route 90 or 91.I have only been to the armory here in Springfield which is outstanding and the basketball Hall of Fame which is also pretty cool. But Im really glad we came on this trip It was a pleasant surprise.
Enjoyed the visit and learned about the world in which Theo Geissle grew up. Admission includes all 5 of the museums and its worth the time to take at least a quick tour of all the museums here. It was interesting to learn about all of the companies who have their roots in Springfield.
So fun! Colorful interactive play space for kids. Downstairs was a craft room. For Corona, masks are required, plenty of sanitizer dispensers spaced in each room. Tickets are timed by entry to keep distance indoors. Craft room had individual trays set up for kids/families. Upstairs is the history of Dr. Suess, his inspirations for stories including childhood landmarks.
My daughter 4 has a great time every time we go to the Dr Seuss building. I wanna give that a 4-5 stars. This time due to Covid the hands on exhibits were shut down which is understandable. The other exhibits need to be renovated big time keep the T-Rex dinosaur section but a lot of the other exhibits are very outdated. The one exhibit they seem to change is where the minerals are. They have a moving exhibit that was not open. Currently theyre renovating the planetarium which was small and outdated. Cant wait to see what they do with it! They need more hands on exhibits for all ages. A lot of wasted unused space. The art & sculpture museum is nice but very boring for kids, they have a spot for kids to do art projects of the week in the sculpture museum but thats about it. Today was very uncomfortable they actually followed us in the sculpture and art museum. Im giving 3 starts bc its seriously outdated and...The gift shop is extremely over priced. Every time we go there the prices are higher. Also, very crowded with things that havent sold in I cant tell you how long!!! Some of the older woman that work in the gift shop are unpleasant. If youre not a resident of Springfield the admission is over priced as well for what your viewing.
The Dr. Seuss Museum has a lot to offer both kids and adults throughout its 3 different levels. The first floor is dedicated to children as each room is brightly decorated with familiar Dr. Seuss scenes, characters, and artwork. There are interactive touchscreens, hands on activities, climbable exhibits, a pretend bakery, and plenty of books to read. The basement level has an arts and crafts center with different things for children to make and take home. The top level is a true museum dedicated to the life, history, and legacy of Dr. Seuss. The exhibits include actual items, artwork, and photographs from Theodore Geisels life including his childhood. If you or your children are fans of Dr. Seuss this museum is a great place to visit. There is enough stuff to keep children entertained for roughly 30-45 minutes.
My boys love this place. Keeps them busy for hours and you cant beat that its free for Springfield residents! Weve been to all of the Springfield Museums and we really enjoy them.
Great spot to get lost and discover so much!!! Highly recomend a full day to experience as much as you can.
Absolutely LOVE Dr Seuss..the museum was an experience I will never forget
Something here for everyone. Reading and activity rooms downstairs, lots of life size sculptures of your favorite characters perfect for selfie taking on the main floor, and personal possessions, letters, and family heirlooms upstairs. Very nice collection and fun for all ages. Large sculptures in the sculpture garden are also perfect for photographing. 3 other museums here to explore as well. 2 fine art museums and a science museum. All for the one entrance fee.
Lots of fun not as interactive during the pandemic with them taking alot down but still lots to see and do!
A wonderful museum! Some of the exhibits are hands on, and nearly all the descriptive texts are in Seuss-like rhymes. It was as enjoyable fo my wife, a retired elementary school librarian who used to stock all his books, as it was for my daughter, whom I used to read them to, and her husband, an Italian who did not grow up with Dr Seuss but enjoyed reading the fabled rhymes to their young son.
Oh, the Places Youll Go!The Dr Seuss Museum is a must visit when traveling through Springfield. From the second you walk in it feels like you’re in a Dr Seuss world from the colorful walls to cool games it’s a blast of fun for all. Upstairs you can enjoy reading and looking at the life of Dr Seuss.
Great museum to take the kids. Not crowded and lots of interactive exhibits!
A fun place to learn about the history of Dr Seuss and see it come to life. We spent a short time in the museum and it was a bit much for our 2 and 3 year old. Parts were fun for them and other parts that were interesting to the adults had little for the kids. The fee for entrance gets you into all 5 museums but its not worth paying if you just want to visit this one.
A lot of fun. Kind of small but fun to walk around and see the different displays
Loved touring this museum. In addition to his great works, you get to learn about him and how he came to be the great Dr. Seuss. Brings back childhood memories. I highly recommend visiting if in the Springfield area.
Very interactive for the kids. Tells of his life in a way kids can follow.
Nice exibit of Ted Geisel. I learn so much on Dr Seuss. A lot of activities for kids. Well done
No matter what age you are this is a fun place. Visiting Dr.Seuss museum was so much fun. My kids ages 8 and 11 had so much fun seeing all the different creatures and stories. So glad we made the drive here.
Kids loved it
An information-enriching place, beautiful, there is a place to sit and have a picnic. Must be with masks
A lovely outing for the little ones. The exhibits are really high quality and interactive.
This is more of a childrens experience center than museum.... Bright, fun, and very interactive, it brings the magic of Dr Seuss alive! My son preferred the first & bottom floors (craft/play area) over the third, which was more about the authors life. Overall well worth the visit. Highly recommend!
Its a great place for kids to have fun!
Very cool group of museums. 6year old and 2 year old had a lot of fun. Good mix of hands on stuff for the kids and small enough hands off museum for the kids to walk through without getting too restless. Wide enough areas to walk around with a stroller which is convenient and would be very easy for wheelchairs. The Dr. Seuss museum was very well done. The artwork inside and the decorations were great. You really felt like you walked into his world.
This magical place is a perfect visit for families with kids young and old! The other museums here are a magnificent bonus and also worth the visit! Thanks for helping us end our school vacation week in the best way possible!
This “museum” is always nice to visit. The kids can play in it, and there’s a lot to learn about the man and the local area. The other Springfield museums are also great for the whole family and make for a fun full day out.
Beautiful tribute to Dr. Seuss. Separate rooms for many of his books along with his personal memorabilia.
Great place for the whole family! Lots to see, learn and enjoy.
Loved it & every kid should go.
Took my 2 year old today and he had a BLAST. Definitely allow a decent amount of time to be here as most of it is interactive. Super cute and will definitely go back
Nice museum especially for kids and I LOVE their candy.
Beautiful Garden, really enjoyable and picture perfect
We spent about two hours here. The Museum has 2 floors and a basement. There are elevators, and very clean restrooms. Our 6 and 9 year olds loved the play areas, especially the bakery. (Most of our two hours was spent watching them have fun with the hands-on displays.) Great photo ops with models of book characters and scenes. Interactive screens with rhyming and vocabulary games. Interesting historical displays that reveal quite a bit about the author. Downstairs is a large arts and crafts room led by a very nice staff member. (We made hats out of newsprint.) There’s a small corner with a rug and books where parents and kids can read. The gift shop is located in the welcome center and has items related to all the museums. The Dr. Seuss section is surprisingly sparse, with a very small selection of books, tee shirts, plush characters, and related items.
Kids loved it.
This place keeps on improving. If you havent been in a year, its worth the trip. Great for young kids and older kids alike.
Fun, colorful and plenty of hands on activities for the younger crowd.
Really cool place. I am from Cleveland, Ohio and I enjoyed it very much.
Wonderful place to bring the kids. And its in Springfield, MA for havens sake. What else are you going to do? (Except maybe the Basketball Hall of Fame)
Geared for the younger kids, although I did enjoy reading some of the letters written in the Ted2Ted section. The colors in the house were bright and whimsical. The sculpture garden was small, but enjoyable. We also went to the science museum and Springfield History Museum during this visit. I think our favorite experience was the Toytopia exhibit. Lots of hands-on activities and a display of lots of toys through the decades. Fun and Nostalgic.
Super fun activities for kids! Lots of favorite Dr Seuss characters to climb on and play with, fun puzzles and books for reading in English and Spanish! My 1 year old and three year old both loved it!!
Spent a lot of time here. Much history about Dr. Suess.
We had a blast on our visit to the Springfield museums. The Dr. Seuss Museum is only one part of the museum campus. It was a lot of fun to explore the Dr. Seuss Museum and also the Dr. Seuss Sculpture Garden. You can also visit multiple art museums and a couple other museums. When we went there was an exhibit called toys that was a lot of fun with lots of interactive parts! Our daughter is 10 and she loved everything about our visit to the museum campus.
6-yr old loved it.
Absolutely amazing! It was like stepping into a Dr Suess cartoon. Awesome staff. Super kid friendly and we learned so much.
Oh, how fantastic this place was to go.You may see all but will still want mo.They have Thing 1 and they have Thing 2.They even have Horton Hears A Who!Theyre is plenty of excitement and plenty of fun.Just watch your toddler because they will want to run!
Nice place
Great for kids and kids at heart. Best of the Springfield Museums. Get here early as admission is timed. Then see the others if you want.In great Dr Seuss fashion, the museum is bright and colorful and full of hands on activities as well as memorabilia. Fun and interesting for both children and adults.
My husband, my parents, and my 13 & 3 year old all enjoyed an afternoon here and we had a lot of fun. The ticket prices were affordable and there was a lot to see. There are several interactive areas for the kids the learn and explore Dr.Suess and his wild imagination. There are also several items of the late Dr.Suess that were really cool to see. There was another building for kids across the street from the Dr.Suess museum that has several more activity filled rooms for the kids to play with and just have lots of energy fueled fun!We went in January so the weather was not the best to be outside for any length of time but the outdoor sculptures were amazing and we look forward to going back once it’s warmer to really spend time exploring the outside areas here. They do have a restaurant on the same grounds as the museum but make sure to check their hours because they are only open at certain times and closed between lunch and dinner(at least this was the case when we went). So we ended up eating somewhere on the drive home.Great place to spend a day out with the family or friends, especially if you like green eggs and ham!
My 5 year old girl enjoys the place, she was crazy everywhere seeing everything. She participated in activities and ask a lot of thing. It was a little overcrowded but we enjoy a lot.
I was expecting more hands-on things for the kids. It was rather disappointing for them. How can it Dr. Seuss and not a total blast for the kids..
My kids loved this place. there are other exhibits that you can pay for as well my kids really enjoyed the science museum as well. Everythings located in one place which is great when your lugging kids around. I also thought pricing was fair for what was offered.
Joyful to be among the Seuss characters sculpted and colorfully molded? forms. Enjoyable for kids and even more for adults also interested in the author/illustrators life. If you are young, go. If you are retired and once loved Seusss stories, definitely go.
Whole family loved it here
A trip down memory lane for those who can remember Cat In The Hat era.Two floors or more of memorabilia to soak it in - my 45 minutes stay didnt do it justice. Weekdays are best as the crowds are smaller, weekend 200 people from locals talk are allowed every 30 minutes for Fire and Safety reasons.Go without hesitation, you will not be disappointed after the long drive.
A good place for toddler to play for an hour or so . If youre Bank of America card holder, remember to check out which date is fee admission, it will save you $25 per adult
Really great on the history of the man. Fun stuff for the kids.
So cute. Dr seuss is on same grounds as a few other museums and library. Great rainy day outing.
What an amazing gem in Springfield. Whimsical but serious, perfectly matching the genius of Seuss. The statue garden is such a nice setting.
Really great stop for children of all ages, fun and nostalgic, worth the visit. Check schedule for childrens activities and plan for 30-90 minutes to enjoy exhibits and sculptures.
Great for kids of all ages. Relived all those great stories that entertained me as a child. Awesome! Will be back with my granddaughters.
Great place for young at heart of all ages. A lifetime of illustrations/books documenting lifes lessons. Great memorial to Ted Geisel aka Dr. Suess...created over 60 books we have read, enjoyed and shared. :)
Tons of fun for the kids!
It was a fun place to take my boys. A little packed but worth the visit.
Very entertaining. 4 museums in one area. My 15 year old even liked Dr. Seuss museum.
Great time for kids.
So fun and very clean
A cute little place to explore, and a good homage to Dr. Seuss
Perfect place for a family fun day!!!
Excellent day trip for children and adults!!!
It was like walking into a the story books. So fun and whimsical
Very interesting and well laid out. Childrens interactive displays are fun for kids of all ages.
12:30pm Jul 29th we drove 3 hours from NH to go to the museum. The museum attractions themselves and history is great, as far as the “security” is laughable. Exceptionally disgusted. We were waiting for the rest of our party of 17 (spent tons of money here) to arrive in the ticket waiting area and we were told by the lady “security guard” that my 1 1/2 yr old was screaming too loud, excuse me but we were there for 5 minutes and he was very excited. You ma’am are a joke and should be ashamed of yourself. How dare you say he can’t express himself in a children’s museum.
Great hands on play for the kids. Quite interesting for the right adult.
Beautiful original house with fun remodel inside. EVERY thing from book characters to poems and some really neat statues
A favorite place for our family to visit. New a s different fun stuff every time we visit!
The Seuss family has a lot of contributions which makes the showing personal
So much fun!
Great place to go for kids and adults alike! Multi-level museum.NOTE: If you buy your tickets in advance, you still have to go to the main museum to get your wrist band and ticket. The basement has a room that has crafts for kids, so that can be good for parents if you want your child to sit for 10-15 minutes. It wasnt as busy as the website made it seem (we went Saturday if labor day weekend at the time of opening).
Real cool Seuss vibe going on here .
Fun place for the younger kids. My daughter is five and loves it. They have nice displays and you can definitely spend a couple of hours there. Might be a little boring for kids over eight or so.
Great place for kids.
Took my last grandson there - have not taken any of the other 3 my bad - and had a blast!! I will be going back
Definitely interactive. Something for every age. Very well done exhibits.
Very kid friendly. Its a shame that you have to buy a $25 ticket for 2 kid friendly museums and 2 art museums.
Love Love Loved!!!
A magical place for all children age.
Walking into this museum felt like walking into a Dr. Suess book. We enjoyed reading Suess books we had never seen before and the kids liked the scince museum-like games, toys and crafts.
Very nice! Kid friendly and plenty to interest adults as well. Exhibits cover his books, his life, and the nearby sculptures.
Wonderful informative experience in several of the museums we went to....including Seuss.
Great for kids, and adults. Really fun.
Loved it. I felt like a kid Again!
So much fun and very interesting too. Great for both kids and adults.
Any kid would have a blast here. So many museums, there is something for every age! A good chunk of springfield history is here, and it is represented very well! The staff is usually friendly and its always very clean. Honestly, the only downfall for me is gift shop prices! If you have never been, plan to spend an afternoon.. there is a lot to see & learn!
I had a blast with my almost 2yr old!
