One of my favorite lighthouses! Wear good shoes so you can carefully adventure/hop between rocks to get a closer look at the lighthouse. Visit during golden hour and it will be magical!

We drove over there on a bright sunny day in July and checked out Spring Point Ledge Lighthouse. The parking was not easily accessible but it was worth stopping to look at. Spring Point Ledge Lighthouse is very pretty. The lighthouse, water and boats helped to make for beautiful pictures.

I’d suggest wearing tennis shoes if you want to walk up to the lighthouse because you’ll walk over rocks, but I had no issue in sandals. Very pretty and nice to sit on the rocks and soak in the view. Free parking.

An absolute must to sightsee and visit when in downtown Portland. Be warned the parking situation is a disaster as there’s like 4 spots total to park your car during the week (which is when we went) if you plan on visiting. There’s shared parking with the local municipality and school which means either get there early or have someone sit in the car and the other person walk to the lighthouse. The walk on the big stones was an experience to remember. We saw this light house from afar ok our ducks boat tour of downtown Portland and it was awesome to visit in person and see where we were pointing to from the ducks boat. Other than the parking it’s a great place to be, sit on the bench and enjoy the scenery or get some walking in all the way to the lighthouse and back.

A beautiful lighthouse with views of multiple historic forts and batteries on the surrounding islands. The areas around the lighthouse aren’t very crowded and it’s easy to find your own space to relax near the light. Since it’s proximity to the airport and docks, you get plenty of plane flyovers and views of quite a few sailboats going past. I would recommend this lighthouse as a good alternative to the Portland headlight for anyone who dislikes crowds or just wants a different sight.

A great lighthouse with nice harbor views from out on the jetty. Mind the occassional large gap between some of the giant slabs of rock if you venture out onto the jetty. If you do, youll be rewarded with a great 360° panorama of the harbor. The visitor parking was limited, but other spots normally in use by the community college where the park is located were available. Dont miss driving over to nearby Bug Light. Its five minutes away and is a unique style of lighthouse that is very easily accessible.

This was great! I stopped here trying to kill time while my firemd was in an all day surgery. The parking lot was full but people rotated quickly on the actual ledge. It was busy but I still had an opportunity where I was able to get a picture of the lighthouse without anyone on the ledge. Definitely worth the stop! Very very peaceful and beautiful.

A nice place to take and enjoyable but carful walk from the mainland to the lighthouse on a nice sunny day. The walk is not for young children or for those who have trouble walking and you often have to take giant steps between large chunks of granite that make up the breakwater between the lighthouse and the campus of the Southern Maine Community College on the grounds of the old Fort Preble. At the base of the breakwater you can explore the old gun emplacement where large cannons once stood. The lighthouse lies between Bug Light in South Portland and Portland Head Light and Two Lights both in Cape Elizabeth. Thus it is easy to take a multiple lighthouse excursion in one day or part thereof.

Free parkingFree admissionEasy to find via GPSNo public restroomsNo water fountainNot child stroller accessibleNot wheel chair accessibleGreat little park and beach. Wear comfortable shoes because the terrain is uneven and you could easily injure yourself on the rock path to the lighthouse. There is a grocery store (HannaFord) a few miles away with public restrooms. I would advise using the restroom before going to this park. You can also buy sunscreen, water and snacks for your lighthouse visit.

A very challenging walk to the light house. FYI- Their are gaps between the rocks, rocks are at different height levels and rocks can be slippery. No one can enter the light house, however the feeling of accomplishment was great and the views are amazing. I dont recommend this for the elderly or very young or anyone wearing flip flops. There is also a fort next door and a fort across the bay of the light house.

One of our favorite things to do in Portland is to drive out to a nearby lighthouse at the crack of dawn and greet the rising sun.Spring Point has served this little tradition of ours very well. We love its long approach to made of large breaker boulders. We always seem to be greeted by majestic loons, ducks, and in the rare occasion, seals.Bring a warm cup of coffee, sit, relax, and enjoy the day :)

Its a nice and less visited place. Its a 10 minute walk on the stones to the lighthouse. Some nice photo shots. Also the remnants of forts/defensive holds shows the importance of this bay.Parking is very very limited. There are like 2 visitor spots and website says we can park in student parking however its a 5 minute walk from another lot. The closest lot has lot of reserved parking so we chose to park in the next lot to be safe.

Parking was tough. You are on a college campus and many of the parking spots are reserved. You can climb out on the rocks and walk out to the lighthouse. Great picture opportunities and lots of fun.
