A great place to sit and watch the boats come into Portland harbor. The park is quite large and has areas to picnic, fly kites, or sit and enjoy the sun. Theres a small memorial to the welders of the liberty ships of world War two which is quite interesting if youre into that sort of thing. The parking lot doesnt have a lot of spots but Ive rarely seen it completely packed.
Always cool to see historic places. The park is fun for the whole family and the water front views are beautiful. You can see the old fort gorge and other light houses. The wild life is fun to watch for the kids through the free binoculars. You can enjoy the boats sailing back and forth on the water.
Bug Light is absolutely beautiful. Ive been coming here for picnics every summer for as long as I can remember. Theres a great view to watch the boats coming and going and their is a nice park area where people fly kites and tables and benches for picnics or just to sit and watch the boats. Its just a wonderful place to be.
Nice place to come for the views/photos. Paved trail along the shore almost all the way up to the light (wheelchair friendly) and lots of benches to sit and a big field for running/kicking ball/frisbee etc or dogs.
Great spot! But light is awesome.
Bug Light is a great place for a quick taste of lighthouse charm. Easily accessible by car, or take the Eastern Trail by bike or foot from points South. from the base of the lighthouse and the breakwater there are great views of shipping coming in and out of the bay. Theres also a nice field for frisbee or kite flying.
A great park. Good view. A nice quick stop if youre touring lighthouses.
What beautiful little park. Families fly kite and groups doing yoga. So much activity in this space!
Nice small stop if youre in Portland, the cool Forts add to the coolness factor too.
Wonderful park with a lot of history. Great view of downtown Portland. Kind of out of the way though.
I have visited Maine every year for the past 4 years. And every year I seem to find myself at Bug Light Park. My hubby and I love this park! Its absolutely beautiful, always dogs and Frisbees, laughing and great views to be had here!
Great place to go for a picnic or just to hang out, my one proves with it is that there are not too many places to sit
Nice small park and lighthouse. Everyone out sitting on the benches and sightseeing were extremely friendly. It was very nice to check out the lighthouse and see all the boats traveling by. Lots of parking as well.
Easy access. Perfect weather. Beautiful views.
Very cool location, but the incredible lack of wearing masks per CDC guidelines was disappointing.
A good long walk to the light house. Good view.
Great place beautiful scenery Great city lights to see at night love it
Favorite place to have lunch rain or shine. Love looking at the water and any boats that might pass
Very cool place! Be careful with older folks and children. Uneven surfaces.
Great view with a nice little bench area near by.
Favorite park in South Portland. We come here at least once a week. Great place for picnics, walks by the waterfront and beautiful sunsets.
Its a park...with a mini lighthouse... Ive seen bigger at mini golf. Maybe I just dont get the appeal but seeing it on so many top spot lists I was really let down. A Bud light would have been better.
Cute little park with a large grassy area for kids to run or fly a kite. Edges lined with a few trees for a minimal amount of shade but otherwise open to the sun. You can sit in the car and enjoy the water if you dont feel like getting out or enjoy a walk along rocky coast. Our girls liked the ship sculpture. Parking was free but there are ot a ton of spaces. That said it didnt feel cramped and there wasnt really any waiting for a spot. It was a great spot to relax and meet up with family for a socially distant picnic.
The park itself is small with quite a few benches and a bit of grassy area to sit. There are some picnic tables there. Great views.
Beautiful scenery. Quiet and safe
Grat small open place. Awesome outlook on the water.
Cute little park where people were flying their kites & enjoying the day. Nice and flat, easy to walk. A tiny precious lighthouse sits just steps away and is easy to access.
Loved this place. Very clean. Park benches spaced appropriately. Nice view of Bug Light Lighthouse and actually able to walk up to it and on it.
Historic place to visit. Big and wide open. Great view of the harbor and Portland.
Love this lighthouse! And, what a beautiful view!
Love it but needs more parking. Bring a folding chair.
Just a wonderful place in historic area. Fun for all ages. Rocks by the ocean and open fields for dogs and kites. Lighthouse, boats, islands, trails etc.
Great place for kids and adults. The type of place you propose marriage at. Parking is free and there are no costs to visit. There is a lighthouse, beaches, paths and historic locations. A few concession stands sell food and drinks on the property. There are slides and swings in the back.
Small lighthouse but a pretty one!
One of the many neat little lighthouses of the Portland region.
Beautiful scenery and park area to enjoy. Very nice visit!!
Nice little park with information about the history on buglight. You can walk right up to it and parking is near by
Seeing the city lit up at night was amazing and the breeze made everything just right
Great place to see the city from a distance. Free parking still.
Peaceful place to watch sail boats and fly kites.
Very nice park. You can walk right up onto the lighthouse. Beautiful views. Public boat launch. Great for quiet viewing or bring your dog for a walk.
Cute park area. Honestly more scenic lighthouses around, however.
Bug light park was so fun to explore that we did it twice. Both night and day trips.
Really nice views of Portland across the water. Nice place for a picnic.
Just a great place to observe the activities in the harbor.
Great view of the water and boats, plenty of benches to sit and observe.
First date with live of my life was here. Its beautiful
One of the best places to chill and rest!
Lovely place on the water on a beautiful day
Very nice place great for walking around and more.
Just a quick place to stop by and look at a lighthouse you couldnt go inside it.
Beautiful park with a tiny lighthouse. Plenty of on-site parking. Free viewers. Good place to watch boats come in and out. Plenty of benches.
Very nice park. Easy to get to and very close to Portland, Maine.
Beautiful view, and a beautiful park
Well-maintained and gorgeous also very close to smcc
Cute little place. With a amazing view and breezy good for dogs
Besides the gorgeous views, the annual kite festival is a must!
Open, grassy park with nice benches to sit at along the shore!
The big wide open, dog friendly park with happy and friendly people and a cute little stubby lighthouse is a great place to take a stroll after dinner. The short approach to the light is constructed of giant rough-hewn granite blocks so the footing is precarious; hold onto the fence. The sunsets with the waterfront for background can be spectacular, but beware: at dusk the BUGS do come out to gobble you up.
Amazing park for kite flying! I went to the festival in May, but there always seems to be people flying there. The muesem is lovely and have a great selection of ripstop nylon kites for the best prices Ive found both off and online!
Great place to Learn some History and enjoy the Outdoors at the Same time and this year a Great place to view the 4th of July Fireworks too
Lots of parking, a beautiful view of a part of the city and even a possible connection to Rosie the Riveter because of the world war-era manufacturing that happened in this area. I think it’s a great option for sunset or just any time of day you want to be at the park though there isn’t a lot of shade if it’s really sunny and hot so beware of that.
Cutw little light house. See first before fort williams
The display on So. Portland ship building during WW2 was amazing.
Adorable light house close to downtown Portland
My favorite park I bike here almost every day in the summer
Such a beautiful place
Great open air, beautiful views, great for kite flying
Wonderful place and such an incredible view.
Love Bug Light! The Kite Festival was amazing.
I like bug light park. People can walk and spend some time watching the port area and the sunrise/sunset. Sometimes flying kites and etc,.
Picture perfect post card like. I love love love this place. I will definitely go back here if I go back in Maine.
Beautiful place to visit.
The Bug Light lighthouse was located close to the community college and offered a closer view of fort gorge. One of the smallest lighthouse weve ever seen. The park offers an art piece shaped like a ship
Its the smallest lighthouse... love the history behind everything regardless..beautiful scenery
Beautiful place to take pictures and picnic :)
So pretty at sunset! The views from this point are marvelous
Fun place to visit when they open it up. Minimal information on site, but if you catch the Rotary Club when they ha e an open house you can learn a lot.
Nice little park with plenty of places to sit and is at the end of a 10m bike path
Very scenic. Not a ton to do but you can definitely chill on a bench and enjoy the view.
Nice, but small park. The lighthouse is a nice attraction, but theres also a play area and ship memorial. Parking area is somewhat small, if youre staying closeit would probably be good to walk if you can in case the lout would be full. Nice views of the island and ship port.
Very fascinating just a small harbor lighthouse for the harbour of Portland but worth the drive and you could walk right up to it for fantastic pictures .
Very nice to walk around.
Very short lighthouse but plenty of parking and views of the Portland waterfront.
I love this park! Went to the Psrks and Rec Cruise In. Beautiful cars and what a venue!
One of my favorite lighthouses, very old and unique. View of Portland is great, once saw a full moon set over the city. Spectacular!
Great place to hang out with your partner or friends.
Great place to watch ships go in & out of Portland harbor
My grandfather worked for Todd Shipyards and there is an awesome tribute to the battleship builders of WWII there!
A lot of history right there, made it even more fun!
Nice! Romantic walk in the park with some history
Great place to visit. Stretch your legs.
I love watching people fly kites here.
As you approach the lighthouse on the access road there is a parking lot straight ahead. If you turn right you will come to a parking lot right on the water free of charge. A walk towards the lighthouse you will come to a boardwalk with memorial plaques and a nice view of Portland working waterfront harbor. To the right you come to a granite breakwater out to the lighthouse. You can walk around the lighthouse on fenced breakwater out in the harbor. You have views of fort gorges and peaks island.
Beautiful views and plenty of parking.
Bug Light Park is an open and sunny park with free parking and wonderful harbor views of Portland and Peaks Island. See the ferry boats, schooners and maybe a cruise ship or oil tanker pass by if you time it right. Some nice picnic tables and benches are available if you want to bring your lunch and have a great view.
