Weve been coming here for a while, but havent been since the most recent updates...to say that I love the new open areas would be a grave understatement, and Im fairly certain the pup really enjoyed the new sights and smells, too!

The water is currently contaminated so dont let your pup swim or drink from it. Other than that, its a beautiful spot for on - or even off leash.

I love this park. It is awesome that you can actually have your dog off leash. Its much bigger than one would think, theres tons of footpaths to walk. My grandfather actually built all of the bridges found there, so it has sentimental value, too. Its a great spot to snowshoe in the winter, as well!

Dont let your dog go in the water or drink the water!! Theres an algae in there that very poisonous. But other then that the dogs are all nice and its a great little hike.

Amazing off leash dog park. There are two pond areas and a large field for the dogs to run around. The trails are fairly short around the pond but extend up the hill. The community that attends are very friendly and responsible dog owners. Overall one of my favorite places to take my dog in the area.

Its a nice little area for dog walking and socializing. Not a lot of pretty scenery around the man made ponds, but better than a lot of city trails.

Such a perfect doggy park thats close by. With many trails both quick and a bit longer, there are many options depending on the mood/weather. Excellent for pups in training as with the most senior of pups. Totally recommend!!!

I take my dog here at least once a week. He loves to splash in the ponds. It is off leash, but obviously take care of your dog. Be respectful of dogs who might be a little more fearful or kids. And clean up after them. But still 10/10

Brought my dogs, they had so much fun! I wish more people obeyed the voice command/leash law though. My dogs are on leashes for a reason, not all dogs enjoy strange dogs running up to them.

An ample parking lot gives access to a trail complex through the woods around and between two ponds. Dogs are permitted off-leash if under voice command. Ponds are stocked with fish for the kids and accessible to dogs for swimming. Theres also a good sized field near the entrance.

Hinckley Park is a great option for dog walkers on the eastern side of South Portland. There is a nice variety of trails and plenty of water spots for your furry friend to take a dip. The only real downside of this place are the inconsiderate dog owners that you will run into. There are far too many piles of dog feces that are ignored by careless owners, to the point that walking around sometime feels like navigating a minefield. Very unfortunate.

My dog and I love this park. Dogs are allowed off-leash, as long as theyre reasonably under voice control. Scooping the poop is a necessity, especially since non-dog people go there, too. People fish in the ponds, and the trails are good for biking.

We always enjoy Hinckley Park. If you walk there during the winter, you may need some strap-on steel cleats for your boots, for safer footing. But the scenery is great!

Beautiful park. I basically grew up with Hinkly in my back yard and used to run wild all through it every single day from dawn till dusk. Although its beautiful, its become completely over-run with dogs off leashes. Its always been a dog park but it seems lately its gotten so much worse. If your not walking a dog - stay away. I used to enjoy just strolling around taking photographs or bringing my young son fishing but I cant even do that now without dozens of (off leash) dogs barking and jumping on me with muddy paws. One even got its claw in my shirt and completely ripped it. The owner saw the whole thing and she just laughed, called the dog to her, and walked away. Its really sad what this once great family park has become. I have nothing against dogs or areas where dogs can have some freedom but the owners seem to have no control over the animals and take no responsibility when their animal does something wrong. They also have plenty of poop-bag dispensers at the entrances and yet it seems I cant walk through the park without coming out with my boots covered in dog poop. It never fails. Needless to say, although it breaks my heart, I dont go to Hinkly Park anymore . And if your not walking your dog, I wouldnt recommend going either.

The hubs and I brought our dog here for the first time, today- it was perfect! A great combination of open meadows as well as tucked away nooks of trees and bramble to explore. Lots of cute little bridges and streams, too. Marked paths make navigation simple, in case youre directionally un-savy, like myself.
