Wonderful little lighthouse with a delightful park. There are quite a few benches to sit on and admire the view and enjoy the fresh air. The path to the lighthouse are original laid stones that are beautiful but uneven so be careful when walking. You can actually walk all around the lighthouse. People are so nice, they stopped to talk to us and gave us tips on what to see and do in the area. Lovely.

Cool little lighthouse. Lots of parking and a nice walkway to and around the lighthouse. Lots of boat traffic to watch. Many park benches available to sit and watch the water, boats, waves. Very peaceful and serene. If you enjoy lighthouses like my family does they are several different ones nearby you can check out.

Bug Light (and the park) is an excellent place to get away from the city and stop to get some ocean time in. If you follow the path out to the light and find yourself on the far side of it, you get a wonderful view of the islands and bay. From Bug Light you can watch the ships come in and out, enjoy the scream of a passing seagull, and maybe even dip your feet in if you’re brave enough to navigate the rocks.*Not recommended for those with wheelchairs/walking aids or any issues with balance and walking. The stretch out to the light is not even and has cracks between the stones.

We bought a 2000 piece jigsaw puzzle of a light house. Eventually after assembling it we got to know that it is situated in the same state where my husband comes from (Maine). It’s a beautiful picture btw and I bet it looks even more spectacular in real life. Highly recommend both)))

Portland Breakwater Light (aka Bug Light) is actually in South Portland, ME at the edge of Bug Light Park, near the WW II Liberty Ship memorial. These places are gems in and of themselves but also offer a nice view of Portland across the harbor. On a nice day, one can sit for hours enjoying the sea breeze, watching the harbor traffic, and on the right day, watch expert kite fliers do their thing.

Nice little lighthouse with a unique architecture. Parking is free (dont pay to park at the boat ramp parking lot, turn right and head over to the free lot meant for the park and lighthouse.) Very easily accessed and just a short walk from the parking lot. This is a nice case of two-for-one if you visit nearby Spring Point Lighthouse.

We are so very fortunate to have this wonderful park and Bug Light so close to us. Its a grand spot to sit and watch the boats and ship and ferry traffic. The boat landing is a fine launch site and the kites flying overhead is a fine addition. The great little museum is so well done with lots of interesting photos and artifacts from earlier days. The gift shop offers hard to resist tokens of our lovely town, good selection of touristy trinkets and a good book selection. Just a fine place to pass a summer day....

What a great little park! Its smallish, but with ample parking and a boat launch. Theres a green for some rough housing, but not big enough for any team sports. You could kick around a ball a little. Theres biking and walking paths that are popular. The big fun is the trail leading to the small lighthouse complete with a historical info board.. Youve got to read it, very cool! Add as a bonus, there is an in-depth history/art installation dedicated to the areas contribution to ww2 ship building! If youre doing it as a history lesson, its a good hour to go through and discuss all aspects of the display.
