Was here attending a funeral. The church impressed me as a fine example of modern church architecture - very open and uncomplicated, large enough to be impressive, but not intimidating. A fine, quiet place to worship alone or for a group to celebrate the end of a life well-lived.

St. Matthews is a great place to go if youre looking for a parish in South Bend. I have gone to this church my whole life and the service is great and the people are very welcoming.

This is an amazing place. And when the church bells start ringing, its out of this world beautiful.

The priests are awesome. Its a HUGE parish, so getting to know people could be an issue.

The acoustics are terrible!! I sat 10 rows from the front and couldnt understand anything that was said from the altar or when priest came done in front to talk. I realize his microphone wasnt working but the I just couldnt hear

I ufualy attend another church in town, but went here for the 11:00 AM mass. The music and the rest of the mass were quite beautiful.

My memories of St Matthews Cathedral date back to 1998-2008. Bishop Jenke was Auxiliary Bishop before moving to Illinois. After Mass, we would be walking through the church and I would greet him in Latin with the expression Pax vobiscum and he would reply Et tu spiritu tuo. Prior to that, I remember attending a reception where Auxiliary Bishop Joseph Crowley was present, and then I believe I was present at his funeral as a member of the Knights of Columbus Honor Guard. We stood by his casket alongside Knights and Dames of the Knights of Malta.

Beautiful place very spiritual

Beautiful Cathedral, great people! They celebrate the Holy Mass daily (for propers )@7am and 5:30pm, Reconciliation after morning Mass during the week and during adoration from 11am-12pm on Saturdays. Sundays have Holy Mass at 7am, 9am, and 11am (no Sacrament of Penance offered on Sundays). All are welcome to spend time with our Lord but, if you are not Catholic, or not a Catholic in good standing, please refrain from receiving the Holy Eucharist.
