This is a pretty place with good wine but the staff is incredibly rude and snobby. I will never go back because of the easy that they treated us.
I arrived with no reservations by myself and was immediately greeted and seated. The staff is super friendly and very welcoming. Flight is 20USD for 6 wines. The place:Nice opened and inviting patio, not too busy with great service overlooking at the field and an impressive mountain range as a backdrop. Fantastic location to end your wine tasting day. I’m very thankful of their extended hours of operationsThe wines:The rosé is dry, crisp, bubbly and very refreshing; perfect for a warm summer day. They have a White Pinot Noir; which I don’t think I’ve ever had before; at first looks seems very similar to their rosé but with no fizz. Flavor wise, it’s a lot smoother. After the fizz of the rosé; it just feels like I can drink tons of this like water. It’s very fruit forward; a bit on the sweeter side; the aromatic with a florar emphasis. (So far my fav). Note: please please please, keep it in your mouth a bit longer than usual and move it around. The after taste is AMAZINGStainless steel Pinot Gris; I tend to like this flavor. I like how dry and unique they’re. Their option is good, but I can’t taste anything exceptionally good. I guess the difference with a normal Pinot Gris is not as remarked as with the Chardonnay. I’m not a fan, but come and try it by yourself.3 down, 3 to goNext up; the Barrel Selection Pinot Gris; I believe this is their higher end Pinot Gris; more of a traditional style option. (Full disclosure; alcohol is starting to kick in; I’m taking the first sip) ...boy that is sweet! Sugar overload! After a couple of very mellow and smooth wines, this one is definitely bringing some fruit to my palate. There’s definitely some body in it and flavors are there. I’d say, fairly complex flavors for being a no full on red; but my least favoriteAs a penultimate option, I’m moving to the baseline Pinot Noir; the region go to varietal. Omg, the aroma! So good! Reminisce of crisp cold autumn days, an oaky cherry firewood memory just hits you right away; yet light on body as a Pinot noir should be with an after taste to remember. On the second sip; I taste a bit more acidic flavors; I bet it will be great for an extremely fancy Sangria. Wow! Unbelievable flavors, I just want to stay and keep sipping on it until the leaves turn red!I’m ending my tasting experience with the higher end Pinot Noir. Very similar aroma to the previous option, same harvest year 2017. I can’t honestly taste much difference from the previous option; the bottle is 10USD more than the previous one; so I’m guessing they consider it higher end.Summary:I really enjoyed this winery and their wine; I’m taking home a bottle of the White Pinot Noir. It really was something different from what I’m used to; hope it taste as good as it did for a warm afternoon as in the context of flight tasting
We were charged double and were not given what we wanted/ordered. My boyfriend ordered the tasting for one (to share). When the bill came it was for twice the amount, the waiter then said she poured two servings because one serving wasnt enough for two people. She assumed wrong and did NOT clarify/specify what we wanted. Very poor management there! Very upsetting end to our what was wonderful day.
Newly expanded and remodeled (June 20) tasting room, with expansive patio offering some fantastic views of their estate vineyard, hills, and forests. Wines are very good, fairly priced, and only available from the winery - not distributed. Part of the expansion includes a kitchen so food offerings will be available as well.
I went to this place with my sister and sister in law for some wine excursions at 5:45pm today on a Saturday . This was our first time here. Initially the menu is small which isnt an issue. We ordered the wine tasting menu, charcuterie and a flat bread. It took a while for our food to come, and some of our order was given to another table. In our area, there was one large party and one small table near the wine bar area. Accidents happen which is fine when our order given to another table.Halfway, we asked for silverware, which never came, and the waitress said at the verrrrryyyy end when we were about to pay, that she couldnt find a fork in the kitchen. ??????We noticed the waiters kept going over and checking on a larger party. They havent come back till the very end of our experience when the waitress asked if we wanted anything else, as we proceeded to order, she told us that they were closed.??????? They didnt tell us there was a last call, they didnt check on us, but pretty much told us we can take a bottle to go. I can see if we were in a blind spot, but only three tables on a Saturday evening, right by the wine bar.The wine was excellent, food was decent. But service needed help. They helped everyone else except us, and it showed, I would have gladly bought a few bottles, but I cannot with the service in this place. Applebees has better service. If you are from the younger crowd or even a minority maybe not the best place to go to. Thats too bad, I wanted to like this place. I hope there is some retraining, because the lack of care and negligence showed at our table.
Great wine. Great atmosphere. Close to nearby neighborhoods!
Beautiful vineyard just outside of Portland! Outstanding wines with a special flair for good Pinots! Hawks View Winery draws a large following with us tasty wines and incredible outside tasting “lawn” that not only drops you in the middle of vineyards, you get magic views of Mt Hood on clear days. Spectacular!
Super friendly and helpful staff. The food and wine are great.
Abbey and Ryan really made the experience one of a kind for us. The wine was fantastic and you cant beat 5 star customer service!
Good wine paired with good food in a gorgeous setting and excellent service. What more is there?
Beautiful grounds and amazing view of Mt Hood. Enjoyed the wine flight and Connell was very helpful and made our visit special. Looking forward to another visit. Thanks!
Please update your info online....We drove all the way to your winery hoping to experience a tasting.Establishment only takes reservations and does not allow kids.
My only Winery I have ever been to. I loved it!!
Fantastic atmosphere and the surrounding countryside is beautiful. Great wine and service; definitely a go-to place!
Great wine, people and views of Mt Hood!I seem to bring my family here every time they visit. We really enjoy the wines. Love the white pinot and bubbles they offer. The patio is set up to see Mt Hood. The location to Portland makes it easy to stop off for a glass or bottle. The people are amazing. Have you met Molly? Ask for her. Her exuberance is catching.
Stunning views of Mount Hood
The wine was really good and service was pretty good. Its expensive and a little slow; wine club members are given priority no matter how long youve been waiting. Beautiful outdoor area which will soon be turned into a members only building. Barf. I suggest all other peasant, non-members enjoy it while you can!
The wine is fantastic, the views are fantastic. Proximity to Portland is close. The biggest drawback was some of the staff and their arrogance towards non wine club members. We visited Hawks View from Canada and have tried a number of their wines as well as meeting the previous owner. Only when we mentioned we met the previous owner did some of the staff pick up and want to actually engage us in discussions.Overall a 4, but maybe some friendlier more knowledgeable staff would push this to a 5.
New tasting room is fantastic.
Popular Winery with great views. Currently expanding, cant wait to see what it looks like when its completed
First time at winery. We had a very pleasant experience, the staff was super friendly and helpful. Very relaxing atmosphere and fun. Can’t wait to bring our friends to enjoy. The wine is superb, joined there wine club and looking forward to future wine to enjoy.
So much fun! Stephen was the best, informative wine pour person I have encountered. I enjoyed the older pinos. I will be coming back and recommend for others looking for a nice view, wonderful service and even more pleasant wines.
Always a five. Every single time.
Perfect setting with Mt. Hood view. I would give 6 stars if we had seats on the deck outside. Wines were great.
Great wine, great view, amazing customer service. Huge plus that they are open til 7
Cool cellar with a great viewThere is plenty of indoor and outdoor seating here including a large event tent outside. Everything appeared very clean and well taken care of. Outdoors there’s even an area with some lawn games and chairs so you can enjoy the view while sipping on their wine. You don’t get very much wine in a tasting but that can be fixed by purchasing a bottle of your favorite wine to enjoy. We signed up for the wine club while we were there as their extended hours allow for some trips to the winery after work.
Very crowded and touristy. This seems to be a place folks come to socialize and take selfies. On the upside, service was excellent, they were kid and dog friendly and you can bring in outside food.
Great place to relax and enjoy great wine. Great place for events.
Not sure why it took me so long to actually write them a review. I have been going to Hawks View for years. I got to see it grow from appointment only with no membership option to what it is today. The way they grown over the years is fantastic. Now open every day to the public, great membership options, additional covered outdoor areas, and more. They have grown so much yet not lost what made them special. This is the number one go to place for my wife and I. We have admittedly become jaded towards other wines and wineries because of how much we love Hawks View! Anytime we go out wine tasting we always end at Hawks View. The staff are phenomenal, which in the wine industry they kind of have to be right? Its their job to be friendly, knowledgeable, and remember regulars; but these guys and gals take it to a whole new level. We love going simply to interact with them! Amazing views, fantastic people, and our favorite wine period make this a great place to take friends, go on a date, or any other reason you have to drink great wine. Whether you are a complete wine novice or a connoisseur Hawks View will not disappoint!
I have always had a good time here, and my guests loved it. It’s the best stop on the way to Portland after all the vineyards close. The setting is truly relaxing and the service has always been wonderful. Keep it up!
Extraordinary View, Wines, Experience: we had the privilege of attending a dinner function there, and all I can say is - new favorite winery!
If it wasnt for the view, I dont know how well HVW would do. My friend and I visited HVW shortly after visiting some stellar wineries in the area. We stopped by HVW because of the reviews and we had enough time to visit one more. The venue is absolutely incredibly however, that is the best thing about this place. Our service was good, at best. There seem to be alot of locals that go here and are members that allows free drinks monthly and it offers a great environment for relaxing. The wine was good but sub par to some of the other area wineries. HVW had a unique white pinot noir which was interesting to sample but I would buy a bottle. The other wines were average however, did I mention the view?
Great staff. Casual setting with wine worth a tasting. Plenty of parking and space for a picnic or more intimate party. It is a bit tucked away, which for some may be an issue, but we enjoyed the remote location. More quiet. I could have lived without the game on. But to each there own. I highly recommend the 15 pino noir.
Visiting this Winery is my favorite destination! The wine is so tasty and the staff treats like a special guest. Its friendly and welcoming and a must stop when looking for a beautiful spot to wine taste.
Amazing wine, fantastic service and great atmosphere
Great atmosphere and very knowledgeable staff. Kathryn is an excellent host and would recommend this winery based off her presentation.
Love this place close to the city. Winery stays open late. They serve food too.
Hawks View Cellars is one of our favorite places to visit. They are one of the closest wineries from Portland traveling into Oregons renowned Willamette Valley wine country. Their newly built wine tasting room offers delightful views of their vineyard and wine making area. Lets not forget they have a wonderful assortment of wines for tasting. We highly recommend!
Beautiful view, delicious wine, wonderful atmosphere and amazing staff. Favorite winery in the area.
Taylor was outstanding. Friendly, knowledgeable, attentive, knew how to to listen and recommend wines that were a good fit for what we wanted.
A great vineyard/winery catering to those who like more than just Pinot in the Willamette valley. They offer big reds from Washington and Californias top notch vineyards that are well balanced among other varietals. Quality over quantity here, as most vintages are limited release so move fast! Views are spectacular and hospitality is unsurpassed. Will relax there again.
DO NOT GO HERE.This place has a good view, thats about it. Wine is just ok. We came here for a company party and our foreign CEO wanted to purchase 1 case of wine for $1200, so i asked them if they could comp the six tastings. Their answer was a hard NO, so we didnt buy the wine. During our tasting, each time we were ready for the next round. Nobody would come. At one point, we waited for 40 mins. So, each time we wanted service we had to go to ask for it.
Awesome view of Mt Hood! Wine was good too!
Great views. Great wine. What more can one want!
Beautiful settingBring a picnic and enjoy a tastingIts a great way to spend an afternoon
Just okay. the wines arent that tasty, the service is poor, but it is laid back and you can bring your own picnic & theres lawn games.
My wife and I visited several wineries over our anniversary weekend. This included some of the very best in an area inundated with them. The personal attention and the quality of the wines far exceeded any other exprience we had over the weekend (or in weekends past). Their passion will keep us coming back time and time again. Kudos!
Went there Friday for food truck and wine tasting. The food was amazing the view and wine delicious!
Nice place, wine and service. Probably great views when it’s a clear day and nice outside area.
Excellent View. Parking exceed seating. Excellent service and help nice grass lawn
Beautiful setting and friendly staff.
Jenna was a joy to have serve us! Will definitely be back!
Love the wine at Hawks View! Great Pinots and the White Pinot is amazing! One of my favorites in the Valley, for sure!
Beautiful. Great wine, too!
Beautiful scenery on a clear day. Gorgeous tasting room
Always an enjoyable experience!
Great food, good wine. Good people and nice location and views.
Great place! Amazing view! So relaxing!!!
Absolutely stunning property. We did a.wine tour from seattle to the russian river and this vineyard was by far my favorite. Worth the trip from Florida the light pinot was my favorite and the service was exceptional.
Great views and great wine
My son, Dean, says its a great place to stop off and play video games.
The hubby and I enjoyed our time here. Wonderful winery with knowledgeable and friendly staff. They have some fantastic Pinot and Syrah. Visiting from Louisiana and will definitely return.
This was the best tasting flight of wine we tried during our stay. Dan was very helpful and knowledgeable.
Nice place, but thats about it. Their wine is terrible. Go to Blakeslee... their white pinot noir is award winning and incredible. Its what wine is supposed to taste like with great people and better views.
What a beautiful day, view & good wine with my wife. Perfect!
Great wine- love the white Pinot Noir. Great service and fantastic views. Kids and pet friendly.
Took some out of town friends there today. Could not have had a better experience. The facilities are all beautiful, with a great view of Mt. Hood. We tasted four wines and two of them were outstanding. Loved the White Pinot Noir and the Pinot Noir Cellar Series 2013. Our hostess, Amberly, did an outstanding job. So good I joined their wine club.
I am so stuck on their 2017 Pinot Noir Carbonic right now and the staff always makes us feel so welcome.
Good service, but refused to sell me a bottle Disappointed. Bad business not to sell a bottle from there shelf with hats and Tshirts :-( were available.
Great place, friendly staff and dog friendly.
Best grape juice Ive ever had
Delicious wine, stellar service, and beautiful views!
Our daughter took us here on our last visit. We took a picnic lunch, sipped wine and enjoyed the atmosphere.
Great people, wine and facility.
We didnt care for the wine but the tasting room had plenty seating and nice views.
Great ambiance!
Amazing view and conversation
Very amazing facility
Amazing atmosphere!!
Relaxing and Beautiful!
Great quality wine in every taste
