A light hike on a paved trail to a beautiful waterfall on the side of a massive drop-off. The views along the way get better and better as you approach the fall. All together — an awesome place to take it all in right inside of Great Smokey Mountain Park. a good place to hike The Park but not make a timely (day) commitment to doing it.

Really pretty water falls on a fairly easy and short hike (just a massive incline). We lucked out and got a parking spot right as we pulled in. When we reached the falls, we climbed down the rocks to the lower part for photos. Nobody else seemed to want to do that, so we had the lower part to ourselves. It had just rained all day and evening yesterday, so the water was really coming down from the falls. Theres some really great scenic overlook spots along the trail as well! So be sure to look up from your feet every now and then.

A nice and pretty waterfall awaits you at the end.Easy walk to the top on a paved road. Saw many families with young kids and elderly grandparents walking on it. If youre feeling adventurous theres a way to get to the lower falls from a slight drop about a couple hundred feet before the waterfall.

This was a pretty easy hike to start our week in the Smoky Mountains. There are some slightly steep areas, but overall the walk is a gradual climb with a good payoff at the end. My three year old was able to do some of the walk to the falls and most of it back to the parking lot and I carried her in a back-mounted carrier the rest of the way. My wife carried our one year old on her back both ways. He loved interacting with the trees and rocks and was mesmerized by the waterfall. We arrived at about 8 am on a late September Monday and had no trouble getting parking. But there were no spots available when we returned at about 9:30, so plan to arrive early.

Nice easy trail with about 320 feet in elevations change 1.1 miles one way. We walked about 5500 steps and 3 miles due to where we parked and adventures around the area. Not needed. We brought water and a snack. The weather at this elevations, about 2500 feet was warm today on this hike, but the woods melts temps low on the walk. 70’s with a breeze in the Smokey mountain area even though city temps would be hotter.

A popular place to hike, this trail leads to a beautiful double waterfall. Youll also be greeted to a wonderful view of the surrounding mountains. The slope is a bit steep at times to get up to the falls, and the trail is somewhat paved. I saw plenty of people pushing strollers, but youll be picking it up often to get it over the frequent cracks in the pavement. Be advised, there are NO bathrooms or porta potties at this trailhead. Youd have to stop at the visitor center or at a nearby campground, both of which are miles away.

Well marked well paved trail head. Definitely worth the 1.3 ish mile hike up (one way). Was a little crowded the day we went but no fault of the trailhead. Some areas would not be fun for a wheelchair or stroller but might be doable. Pretty much a constant incline (but not a bad incline) all the way up and constant decline all the way down. Have fun.

Great easy trail for families. We hiked this trail later in the evening, with our 11, 8 & 6 year olds. Took about 2 hours round trip, including playing around and climbing all over the rocks at the top. Even got to see a small bear near the parking lot as we got back to the car! Kept a safe distance, but he was definitely comfortable with all the people around! The kids loved seeing him!

This trail is a sligtly more difficult than advertised. It is a short 45-60 min hike to the falls. Some parts of the trail have VERY steep drop-offs with no railings(keep an eye on your kids)This NOT a trail for strollers at all. The trail is technically paved but is crumbling and not wide enough to pass other hikers. The hike to the falls is all uphill. We arrived mid-day and the trail was packed. The falls were even more packed with people and we could not find a place socially distant enough from others for pictures or to enjoy the falls.Since the hike to the falls is all uphill, the hike back down is much easier. Would recommend arriving very early in the day to avoid large crowds.

This was absolutely AMAZING! We were here for a vacation from Illinois, with our 4 boys ages 8, 6, 4, and 1. We hiked this trail and enjoyed the breathtaking scenery. At times it can be scary when the path narrows, or the fact that you can see a VERY steep mountainside. If you are careful and watch where you are going, especially with children, its a nice path to hike. We ALL loved this awesome trip to the smoky mountains! If we vacation here again we will definitely try another trail!!

I come to the Smokeys almost every year and this is one of my favorites and a must see. The road trip there is beautiful and the hike is so scenic. The falls themselves are gorgeous and a little different with every season.Get an early start and beat the crowds. The main parking lot fills quickly and it is a real drag to have to hike down the road from your car to the trailhead to start the hike and back when you return if you end up at the alternate lots or along the road edge. That means plan to be there by 9:00 or earlier. The trail is paved basically the entire 1.3 miles to falls, but, it is broken up in spots and narrow. You might get a narrow umbrella stroller up it, but forget a big stroller or wheel chair. Not going to happen. But the pavement still makes a pretty smooth surface for walking and us seniors, so I would still call it an Easy hike. At the falls you can relax, get some fantastic pictures up close to the falls, get in the water if you like.

This is a decent hike up the mountains. Little over a mile took us roughly 48 minutes. The fall was beautiful but disappointing as far as recreation there. Definitely not a fall you can swim at, unless you want to take a risk hiking further down a steep slope to the bottom of the runoff. Still beautiful view tho. You could drink the water and it was so cold. We also were fortunate to see a mama bear and her 2 Cubs. We watched peacefully with a group of 15 of us for about 20 minutes before she noticed us and we went on our way. It was so cute.

This is one of our favorite trails in the Smoky Mountains. We visited this trail on a Sat. at around 9am. The trail is paved and would be considered a moderate hike. It takes you up to a great viewing spot of the Laurel waterfall. There are many amazing photo spots along the way. I love going to the waterfalls at Laurel Falls. Went with family on a family trip nearby. The hike up is all uphill of course, but an easy hike, about a mile. The Ranger told me that people hike up that trail in pushing wheelchairs or walking with canes. An older lady passed us on the way up with her son behind her, a young adult blind man with a white cane keeping quick step behind her. They passed us again on the way down before we could reach the top. Once you get to the top you may not be able to cross over a section of water flow unless you want to get wet or you’re able to balance on the rocks. It also could be that it doesn’t usually flow at that spot. We were told that the water flows heavily after good rain and I had rained quite a bit before we went. We were able to climb down a bit to where there were large boulders and the waterfall continue to make multiple smaller falls down below. There was a little cave where my nephew love to crawl in, and it was just a really cool spot.

There were Rangers stationed and giving warnings that a Black Bear, with cubs were near the trail. Many hikers reported seeing them at various points close to the falls. It was a nice hike with pavement along the way. I really enjoyed the falls! There was a cub sighting on the trail, before she went back into the woods. I was too slow for a picture. Later a Ranger said there are blackberries in the woods between markers 7 & 8.

I have hiked this trail several times, mostly in January and now in July. Both seasons have their own beauty. The foliage around is wonderful and the mountain views stunning. The trail is paved, however as of July 2018 the pavement is very rough. I have been on natural trails that were smoother. Also, the humidity in the air made the trail wet and slippery. My wifes right foot slipped on one piece of asphalt that was a patch, while her left foot stayed put on the older. She went down spraining her foot. While she was down two others slipped in the same spot. I am not complaining, hiking presents its own challenges, but I do think it is time for the park service to consider repaving the trail, or not advertise it as paved. The falls at the top are beautiful. The trail brings you to the middle of the falls and if you want you can climb down the bottom. If the trail wasnt so rough, this would be a five star hike.

One of the famous and popular trails. Moderately difficult ( May be very easy for actual hikers and active people). However, you can see people from all the ages are walking. So you can do it. It’s 2.6 miles round trip and paved. But actually it’s a continuous climbing up to a top hill. I was running out of breath and had to stop several times. Returning is easy and fast. The waterfalls is nice. However not the best one. You can play with the water, however one must take precaution because the rocks are slippery and dangerous. There is no restroom / litter bins up there. Carry drinking water, you will need while climbing up. Definitely a nice spot and must try.
