Love this place!!! So historical. The beauty of it is amazing. I can finally understand why Hollywood wants to make movies here. All the parks in Savannah are incredible, but to me, this is the most beautiful. It has a certain feel to it as well.

Someone in our group wanted to take pictures next to the Forest Gump location. As it happened a film commission center employee gave us a quick background about the film and the location. The square has had Juliet Robert and Robert Redford (in separate movies). Anyway its a nice experience.

From cali. So I have to say that all the monuments I saw in Savannah were amazing. And the greenery absolute beauty! I do understand that it is very controversial with all that is going on in the world today ( a lot of the statutes are Confederate), but it is our history and they are only statues that are beautiful if you do not pay attention to all of the BS it really stands for.

It is very nice square to visit just like every square in Savannah. I just wish that marked the location where Forrest Gump movie was filmed (famous bench location). There are nice restaurants around and definitely nice place to chill. The oldest theater that is still actively used in the US is right across the street.

Chippewa Square is a beautiful park in the middle of downtown historic Savannah. This is the same park where Forrest Gump was filmed (the bench has been removed and placed in the Savannah History Museum). The statue in the center of the square is of General James Oglethorpe, the founder of the city of Savannah and the state of Georgia.

We were somewhat dismayed by the lack of a bench near the statue as seen in the Forrest Gump movie. The bench is in a museum but, it would have been nice to be able to recreate the scene. However, the square and entire city is just stunning. We love the Live Oaks and Spanish Moss.

This is the square where they filmed Forrest Gump. Don’t expect to sit on the bench though. That’s at a museum in town. Also the park has changed a bit since the filming. This is really a great town to get out and walk about. Lots of cool buildings to look at. Old South. We were there on a Sunday. All the municipal parking is free on Sunday. Pull your car into a space at the civic center and you’re right there. Everyone parks down by the Old Town tours and parking is a complete hassle. Just park at the civic center, free on Sunday (unless there’s an event I’m sure) and walk to everything. Or get on the bus tour. It’s about 3 blocks away I think.Great area.

Chippewa Square is the Forest Gump movie bench location! Although the bench is no longer there you can still very easily take in the ambiance of the square and appreciate the general beauty of it. I would highly recommend walking the zigzag of the many squares around historic Savannah as hey all have a unique personality to them - they also offer a little break on a park bench in the shade (hide from the sun for a min or 2).

Was a pretty cool place to check out the wife found out that Forrest Gump was sitting on his bench in front of the statue and made it a must stop.
