We didn’t see any actual alligators. The tour lasted 1 hour. Basically we were taken out on the river straight ahead and then turned right and came back! Some of the information was interested but definitely not worth the price to see literally no wildlife. 6 dollars to get into the park, and then we paid 42 dollars for two people for the tour. The website didn’t state that they weren’t conducting tram tours. We had plans to do the combo pack but that didn’t happen. The gentleman checking us in just said “nope not doing those now” no reason behind why or anything.I’ve been on a tour similar to this in New Orleans and it was 100x better.

The New Pontoon boat tour is quiet and the captains are well educated about the local wildlife and the history of this huge lake on the Myakka river . We recently took the early (9AM) tour which is far less crowded. The boat was very comfortable and our captain was quite good at spotting and explaining wildlife and plants. Well worth the cost for the enjoyable 1 hour cruise!

This review is not a reflection on Myakka State Park itself. The park is beautiful and worth seeing. Was very disappointed in the boat tour. The guide provided very little information on the park and turned the experience from what we thought would be educational into a show about himself. We were locked into the ride once we boarded, so we had no choice but to listen as he used the tour to voice his own political views. Some comments were very inappropriate and our favorite part of the boat tour was when we docked and were able to leave. It soured our trip and left us with no ambition to explore the rest of the park. We could not leave fast enough. Your trip will be be better suited if you skip the boat tour.

Myakka State Park is beautiful and has lots of wildlife. The park is relatively large. Would be great to bike around to get a better idea of what it offers. Took the flat bottomed boat tour around the upper Myakka Lake to learn about the park and the alligators. A disappointing tour as the guide talked about his family and other topics other than the park/animals in the area. Some of the things he said were inappropriate and off side. Despite the tour, the park is worth seeing.

Yes, the tour is under new management, and the prices have gone up, and the times have changed and we got misinformation calling the day before we arrived. And yes, the ticket sales people could have done better than respond to the out of date website thats the Parks problem. And the pontoon boat is a bit less exciting than the old airboat. BUT its still a very nice park, the tour boat operater was very nice and extended the tour by 15 minutes to try to find some more alligators (we did see a handful). The gift shop is very nice and the snack bar did was better than average and pretty resonant priced. All in all if we knew what the price was and knew what time the tours were I dont think we would have had anything bad to say about our experience. When we visited the tours were at 9am, 11am, 1pm etc. and an adult ticket was $20. There is also a $6 state park admission per car.

Blame the wind or the time of day, but we simply didn’t see much wildlife. The tour is widely advertised with a $5/couple coupon, but the coupon code won’t work when booking online. The lady at the ticket office promised we would be contacted by the manager about this, but here we are, two days later, and no call. Don’t think we’ll do this again.

Unfortunately I couldnt go to the boat tour I wanted to because of strong wind and also most of the animals were hidden. However I went on the tour with pickup truck and Ive seen baby alligators which was such a great experience. The stuff also provided detailed knowledge about all the animal spieces which live there. I recommend this place and I would come back again in better weather conditions to see more from the wild life.

New pontoon boat does not get you close to any of the gators on shore. Closest gator we saw on tour was from boarding platform. All gators viewed on boat were a good 75-100 yards away at a minimum and difficult to see with binoculars. Price high for what you got to see in my opinion. They stated they have a new boat coming in late December that will allow them to get closer.

Seems like a nice park but at $20 per person for the boat ride and not to see only 1 small gator cause they dont like windy conditions... Wish we knew. Saw more Gators just walking around the area

We took a mid morning boat ride with this company and it was disappointing. I know they cant control the wildlife, which we saw very little of. But one engine was not working at all and the microphone did not work. So we didnt have the power or ability to maneuver like a double engine would have and it was difficult to hear the guide. I miss the air boat, it was much more interesting. This was a lovely boat ride but thats about it.

These photos are from Myakka River State Park..not a tour. This park is a beautiful, wildlife filled piece of natural Florida. There are amazing trails..and pontoon boat ride all year ....tram ride in fall and winter...Canopy Walk above the ground to a tower and a boardwalk out over the upper lake . All of that and friendly and knowledgeable rangers make this our favorite park. Come for a day or camp for a longer stay.

New ownership took over on August 1st and increased price and went down in customer service. We reserved a large group tour several hours before we started and were not warned of the high water levels that made it almost impossible to see any alligators! We did not see a single alligator on the hour long tour and the staff seemed new and unqualified to lead tours. We asked to speak to management after the tour to see if we could receive some sort of refund for the tour and the owner told us it was our fault for picking this day and wasn’t helpful at all! DO NOT DO THIS TOUR! WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY!

Awesome day out for all the family. Whether you are after a relaxing sit down with a dactial airboat river tour, a long walk in the woods, a kayak with the Gators or just chilling with a fishing rod its all available here. Gift shop and cafeteria is a little pricey, as is usual with this type of place, but I highly recommend trying gator bites!

Not a good experience.... for 3 reasons.(1) The sound system was poor and we were unable to make anything out because of all of the static and muffled noise coming from the speaker(s). ...and when he cranked the motor......forget it.....You couldnt hear anything! The speaker(s) should be repaired or replaced. . When we saw a few people on board point and stand up, we got up as well to see the alligator. This was one reason I found it to be a waste of money. We just rode along the lake and couldnt make anything out.(2) The seat cushions (life-jackets) were soaking wet so the seat of our clothes were all wet, hence an uncomfortable experience. This is the second reason that I found that it was a waste of money.(3) About 3 quarters of the way through the tour, I realized that all of the small bites That I was feeling was because I was sitting on some type of an aunt colony/nest. I felt numerous bites and had been picking ants off of my clothes/arms. I finally got off my seat and found them all over my shorts and in my pockets. I removed the cushion and found HUNDREDS of ants crawling everywhere. This was a sign of poor cleanliness/upkeep because I am guessing that someone probably dropped food somewhere near there, which in turn attracted tons of ants. This third reason concluded my thought that this was a waste of money. Once we finished the tour I had to FIND the poorly marked bathroom, at which time I had to undress in the handicapped stall and shake everything off. It puts a new perspective to ants in your pants. They should really sweep the boat out once in a while. When it was all said and done, I would have complained to the ticket people about these three issues....but they were all gone. What happened to customer service? It reminds me of the old Steve Miller song Take the Money and Run.
