The hotel need urgently a update, all is old my fridge was rusted and the bathroom was small, the pool not was working the hotel need a restoration ASAP
Great get away with family...Wish there was more stores and bars in walking distance
It is wonderful location and the water is fantastic. Is not the Ritz(is down the road from it), it is clean, the room are huge (efficiency size) and family oriented. The staff is superb and the price is competitive, I have been coming here for at least 30 years.. FYI, if you have a portable BBQ bring it, I bring mine and BBQ in the courtyard almost every night.
The parking was not good beds were much to small for 2 people and there were tiny ants in my room
The location cant be beat, right on the beach. The hotel is older, so it has an older feel but there was plenty of room for all of us to spread out. The bathroom was nice and large as well. The staff was friendly, and there was an overall chill feeling with staff and guests. Spot the dog is there to great you, and overall a very dog friendly place if you want to bring the pooch. The only complaint is that the beds are hard and only doubles, and the maid service was lacking. We asked the maid to clean up one day she said she was going home after we had been out of the room all morning until 2 pm. Maybe that was our bad for not putting up the Maid Service sign, but we would have liked service since we asked.
We all had a great time. Hotel is dated could use some new pool furniture but overall we were happy and would stay again
Quaint little resort right on the gulf. Clean and quiet! Old Florida style with friendly owners/staff! Within walking distance to St. Armands Circle (for most people).
We stayed here for a few days on a whim while traveling through Florida on a road trip. The staff here are amazing, we instantly hit it off and it set the tone for our entire stay. We will genuinely miss them until we come back. We just kept adding days to our stay. The beach is perfect, the rooms are spacious, well equipped, and clean. The proximity to the beach (its on a private beach) Armand Key, and even Siesta Key is ideal. Its quiet and calm in Lido Key. Absolutely recommend this place. Cant wait to go back!
Cons: Visible holes on the bathroom walls, ceiling has water stains, balcony floor should be painted and not just have an old carpet on. No hair dryer available, no shampoo and conditioner. No market or convenience store close by.Pros: Family oriented. Free parking. Some bbqs stove available. The room was clean, big and comfortable. Full kitchen with good working appliances. Easy access to the beach and the pool. Friendly and helpful staff. Soda vending machine and free ice available. Free beach chairs and beach towels available.
The AC unit broke the day we checked in, we weren’t even there for a whole day. Unfortunately, the maintenance guy had left for the day and the front desk was not that much help either. It sucked, but we were able to check out and find a place on Siesta Key last minute. Hopefully, this doesn’t happen again at this resort.
Its very convenient to be right on the beach! The hotel is a little older but it serves its purpose. Its clean and the staff were nice other guests that we talked too all talked about how they come there all the time which is something nice to hear. They allow dogs which is also a plus.
Its nice and spacious. 2 beds, a kitchen, and all the amenities needed.
Room dirty, in poor condition, insects. I do not recommend it, in the surroundings there are better hotels. I give them a star because I cant give them less. I do not advise this hotel at all.
We enjoyed our stay at Coquina. The hotel could use some renovations but the place was perfect for our stay. The room was very clean and large. They had plenty of chairs for your use by the pool and on the beach. Friendly Staff.
We arrived late at night to find the check in person very friendly and happy to answer any questions we may have since this was our first time at this resort. Our room was very clean with lots of space for our belongings. Housekeeping came each day and made sure we had everything we needed. The manager, Tom, was always around cleaning the pool and making sure the guests were taken care of. We plan to return to this resort next year!
The photos for this hotel are very misleading. The rooms look nice online but when we arrived it looked nothing like the pictures. Our oven didn’t even have a vent hood so we couldn’t use it without the room becoming extremely hot. We only received fresh towels 2 days out of the 5 we were there. The lady at the front desk with the blonde curly hair was rude and disrespectful. Every time we needed to ask a question she had a bad attitude and was sarcastic. One night there was a snake in the middle of the walk way and we told her so maybe she could do something so a guest wouldn’t get bit, but she told us “yeah we’re in Florida. They’re here”. When we booked the hotel room we tried to call and no one would answer. This happened several times. Also, watch out they reuse wrist bands DURING CORONA. The blonde lady claims they sanitize them before giving them out again but I doubt it gets done with her around because she’s taking personal calls and laughing with her friends.
Great location, just right in front of the beach. It was ok.
The lady at the service desk was extremely rude and unprofessional. The door to our room was rotting away and the ac was terribly inadequate for Florida temperatures at this time of year. Our room had old stained carpet (unlike the tile in the pictures) and they charged us per guest even after the room was payed for. I will never return to this place and would not reccomend to anyone. Your money is better spent elsewhere.
Is truly right on the beach! Poolside rooms were great, dog friendly, what more could you ask for??
Awesome location, private beach, comfortable beds, clean room, dog friendly! But only issues is the balcony needs repair for safety and the property just needs to tlc. Overall great stay
A lovely place, right on the beach. The pool is a bit small and the rooms could be refreshed but we had a lovely private patio, there are lots of windows, a full kitchen. It was ideal and I would definitely stay here again.
This place is just adorable!! And you get to bring your fur babies!!! Very laid back and chill!! Looking forward to another stay!!
Loved being able to park the car and not have to leave the location. With kitchen and outside grills no need to leave for food. Loved not having to cross any roads to access pool and beach just walk out the door and your there.
We were greeted by Andrea and Spot and it set the tone for our whole stay. They were very accommodating and friendly. We were very close to the beach and we highly recommend staying at Coquina. We will be back
Absolutely amazing as usual! Friendly staff, amazing room and the most incredible location!
Pros: beachfront property and private! Cons: property need rehab, pool dirty, housekeeping need more supervisor
We had such a relaxing time, just like the old Florida feel you get there. We took a staycation for 5 days & everything was perfect. They also allow dogs at a crazy inexpensive one time fee. We cant wait for our next staycation!
I have been coming to COQUINA on the beach since the 1970s. I absolutely love this place! It is one of the best kept secrets of the gulf! The staff are great! Walking distance to St Armonds Circle.....low key...safe atmosphere....they are so helpful if you need anything! My room was missing a potato peeler....they made sure they got me a new one. I would not stay anyplace else! Love it here!
I wonderful place to stay and beautiful are Lido Key
I’ve thought long about this review and I read other reviews before staying here. My family and I stayed here for 2 nights while we were looking at Ringling college for my daughter. Not many places on the beach will allow only 2 night stay -this was a factor in my booking. I prepared my family by saying it would be like upscale camping - since we were not in a tent- and even though we were in a hotel not to expect all the frills. If you go with this in mind I think you will have a nice time. The staff was super friendly and it’s within walking distance to go kayaking through the mangroves! - a total must do! Even if it’s chilly weather go kayaking you will not get wet! The room was large and bright with a nice little small kitchen. Bring your own shampoo, but they do have soap. The only issue about the room was the beds and bed linens. The beds are only double beds. Not queen. There is plenty of room for 2 queens and they should be replaced with queens. The linens were threadbare! Literally with holes in all the edges. Some edges were totally ripped apart. This is an easy fix and it would make the room feel so much nicer. This is an older motel and on the beach so things like plumbing are not the best (slow to drain), but it all worked and we never had a problem. We had unit 203 facing the parking lot on the second floor. This was not bad and actually kind of nice. The palm trees right outside our balcony made it feel very tropical and it was very quiet. Nice bird watching too. Also within walking to the circle where all the shops and restaurants are located. Takes about 15 min to walk there. It’s a nice beach and unlike some of the other larger hotels it’s a private beach so you don’t pay for “renting” beach chairs. All in all we enjoyed our time.
This is a very nice place. Right on the beach and they also have a pool. Its close to shopping and stores on St. Armands circle. They allow dogs for a fee and is very cozy and convenient. The rooms are spacious and have a nice kitchen. This is our second time staying here and we enjoyed it very much.
On the beach, appreciated the shade structure on the beach. Easy walking distance to the County Park and to downtown St. Armands.
The front desk girls were awesome and helpful,I had to call and change my reservation and they were wonderful and very sweet!I would stay there anytime, the rooms were clean and right on the beach and within walking distance to St Armands.Great little place on the beautiful beach!
Great location and took our pet. Large rooms with shaded outdoor patio
Totally love this place!! Right on the beach and u can rinse off to jump into the pool! Wonderful place to let the teens go off on their own. Personnel is great, friendly, very hospitable and helpful
Not many hotels with on the beach are actually ON THE BEACH but this one is. It was the perfect Stay-cation location.
Love it. old school charm right on the beach. I would go back again and I think we are.
What a quant and lovely little place to stay! Now mind you, it is not the Ritz. But the rooms are clean and comfy and IT IS RIGHT ON THE BEACH! Some rooms literally walk out on the sand. Another plus, its within walking distance of St Armands and great restaurants. Highly recommend!
Very friendly staff and a great hotel that my family and I have used for years.
So sad, really dirty. They were kind about refunding us.
Nice place to sit at the beach. The pool isnt the greatest but it does the trick. Hammocks and BBQ on the beach which is fun. Also a big enough kitchen to make meals. The pup in the front office is cute. Air conditioning runs well and showers are hot so that was great. My only two things that make me deduct a star is that the pillows on bed are very flat and we had a random fire ant in our room... my relatives had a palmetto bug. Other than that, great little place to stay!
Good location, old but clean for age, pet friendly
Receptionist and maintenance guy were super great! Also our rooms were right in front of the beach. What gives this a 2 star is the fact that the rooms are very unclean. My sheets had stains on them that could easily have been removed with a wash. The rooms were very Sandy and seemed to have not been swept or vacuumed at all. Also the housekeeper did not want to hand us over toilet paper. She claimed to have left some but being literally in the bathroom there was none. The BBQ grills and the seating outside was nice. The pool on the other hand wasnt very maintained, it had rust stains and small peices of trash. Would not recommend coquina on the beach because this place is outdated, unclean and not a place to go celebrate a special occasion.
I love this place!
Amazing. Cant wait to go back. Private pool and beach. Only real negative was extremely limited parking.
We have stayed at Coquina for over ten years. Casual and clean. Pets are allowed which makes for a very honey atmosphere. Pool is heated. Beach is sugar sand.
Went there first time 30 years ago on our Wedding Night. Just stopped by to reminisce. Staff congratulated us and said, Hotels been there since 1949.
The resort is perfectly situated on the beach. We stayed for three nights and enjoyed every minute of it. The beach was beautiful and the quite and calm nights were perfect. St. Armands Circle is a five minute drive with great restaurants. Make sure to stop at Kilwans for some delicious ice cream and homemade fudge.
I would recommend this motel to others. Rooms are older but clean and comfortable. There is s nice pool and beach area practically right outside your door, along with barbecue grills and picnic tables. Staff is friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay there again.
Loved the location, pool and beach. BBQ area and hammocks were nice, too. Walked to mangroves to kayak. Bath/shower area in upper front unit needs major work. Some of the 2nd floor outside walkway railings were unstable. Very nice office staff.
Loved it here so peaceful!! Will be going back soon!! Also love that they are100% dog friendly!!
My favorite beach stay. More homey than others.
My first visit to Coquina on the beach, and it was fantastic!! what more can i say, excellent staff, beautiful sunsets, pool was clean, rooms were clean and comfortable beds. The kitchen had everything I need, and really like the full size refrigerator instead of a small one. What a beautiful time to wake up and the ocean at your doorstep!! And no sharks or sting rays.. or alligators..just a peaceful calming ocean.
Such a cute and kitschy place to stay! Right on the beach. Always clean and cozy. Perfect quaint beach get away. We always request a ground floor apartment right on the Sand. Wake up every morning and have your coffee on the Waters edge. Would live here if I could.
My favorite place to stay on Lido Beach! The lady at the front desk showed great customer service. The room was huge, beds comfortable, nice kitchen and dining room, separate bathroom, and a vanity area to sit and do your makeup. Loved the private balcony and trees!!
My FAVORITE place to stay. Old Florida feel, staff is friendly and helpful. Beach is awsome.
Nice location with convenient access to the beach. I will definitely return next year!
Quiet, quaint and clean old style accommodations located right on the beach. Full kitchen-perfect for a family vacation.Within walking distance of St.Armands circle. We enjoyed our stay at Coquina on the Beach.
Love this place. Not fancy but clean and homey. Old Florida charm right on the beach. Could not deal with nicer people than those who work here. Always stay here when I get the chance.
Weve been coming here since about 1980. Its still wonderful. Its pet friendly its reasonably priced, the location on Lido Beach is perfect, easy access to the county park at the end of the road and St Armands key with great restaurants. Will be back!
Very nice cozy place on Lido Beach. Will definitely stay there again..
Our family found this property very charming! The property is definitely dated but I felt that is what made it so charming; had a beach cottage vibe! Maintenance man and housekeeping were very friendly and ask us often if we needed anything. It was a tad pricey but it is location, location and this place nailed it on location!
Nice place right on the beach with very reasonable rates. Feels more like a condo. than a motel room. Great place to stay for an extended stay....
Not overly flashy like the nearby resorts. Which was fine by us! Low key spot right on the beach, affordable, and clean. Only stayed a night but could definitely see coming back for a solid week.
Older but very nice. Would reccomend this place
Very nice quiet location. Rooms are nothing fancy. 4 star review due to no housekeeping on our first day. Heard from other guests they were shorted on towels too.
RENTERS BEWARE: Prior to booking my hotel stay, I looked at the reviews for this property and saw pretty good ratings and photos of this boutique hotel. Was looking forward to my family vacation as this hotel was right on the beach which is where we wanted to be for our entire trip. Clearly the ratings and photos are totally misrepresented on their website as this property is more of a motel than a hotel and looked really run down and needs a serious overhaul and is in poor condition. The property does not look like it has done any upkeep or maintenance and has not done regular safety inspections as on the second day of our stay, we came back from dinner to find the entire ceiling in our room had collapse with black molded drywall all over the floor and bed. It appears that there was prior leak damage that they tried to cover up but apparently never repaired correctly. Luckily no one was hurt but this clearly could have been avoided with regular safety inspections and maintenance. The desk clerk could not move us to another room at the property as they were sold out and did provide other accommodations. However, we had to pack up and move to another hotel close to midnight and had to move not once, but twice in 3 days to another hotel with this last property not being on the beach which is what we originally paid for. I have never experience any hotel stay where the ceiling collapsed in my room and would definitely not recommend staying at this property primarily for health and safety reasons.
No question that this location is one of the best in Florida yet there are many hotels and Motels in this area. What makes this place so unique, on my opinion, is the simplicity of it. Customer service is top priority and oyu feel like home when you are there. just one thing, align your expectations, this is not a luxury hotel, for that you better aim to the Ritz, which is a few yards down. In here you have a cozy place that could make you feel loved by nature.
Quant little place, very comfortable atmosphere, easy to forget the fast pace life is at now. You can just let the world go by
Comfy and safe. A little older but well worth the price difference.
Stayed 1 week and is a really great hotel
Very cozy alot better then I expected great view from the room, older building but perfect location will definitely return
Aging hotel run by nice people on a pretty beach. Good location. A little pricy for what you get in my opinion.
Great family place with a nice pool right on the beach with big rooms. Some rooms better than others
Beautiful Beaches!
Love this place for a pet friendly beach spot. Been coming here for over 20 years. They renovated a few years ago. 4 grills on the beach. Beautiful beach. Clean pool.
Very dog friendly and all the dogs were on their best behavior and under control. Lots of kids having fun too
Awesome place to come and visit for a few days or weeks at a time
Older? Yes. But clean, nice and helpful staff. Private beach is fantastic and they are pet friendly too. We will definitely stay here again soon.
Very charming old Florida. Clean rooms all have kitchenette.
The rooms are a little dated, but the location and staff at this hotel is wonderful. The staff was very friendly and assisted with any need we had. It was wonderful to see a groundskeeper who takes such pride in his work. Every morning you will findJoe out hand raking the beach for the guests at the hotel. We will definitely be making returning to visit next year.
Great under the radar place. Very dated, but right on the beach. If you only use the room to sleep, this place is perfect.
This is a nice place in a great location. The staff were very friendly and the access to the beach was great. The amenities are a bit dated, so dont expect the Ritz. The room I had only had a shower and no bath tub. The rooms are VERY SPACIOUS! However, parking is a nightmare and the beach is quite small. I would highly recommend this place to everyone.
I am staying next door. So I am not sure about the amenities. Beautiful place to visit though.
Our home away from home! General Mgr. Tom Quigley & Angie @ the front desk couldnt have been more accommodating. With my 91 yr young Mom with us, they treated her like family. Some comments about the furnishings are surprising. Do you really come here to spend your time indoors? Outside here..the beach, the pool, the barbecue..this is what we came here for. It wasnt built yesterday...but it is cozy, clean & affordable.
Nice place. Resonable price for location.
Older old florida place. Large spacious rooms. Kitchens in room. Magnificent quiet peaceful beach. No troublemakers in this place, aka no partiers. I do think maybe its been slipping a bit the last year but hopefully it will stay as incredible as it is now.
We enjoyed our stay at Coquina on the Beach very much. Rooms like stated on other reviews are outdated but they are absolutely clean as can be, staff is second to none, very attentive. Cannot be closer to the Gulf unless you were on a boat. Only things I would recommend would be to update electronics in rooms(although we didnt spend much time in our room) and perhaps cabinets, otherwise a perfect stay.
Friendly people, nice pool, private beach. Loved it
