I don’t know what happened, but the fairways are all burnt out and in horrible shape. You can see in the pictures, the greens are actually in decent shape but the fairways were burnt or bare spots. Short course, good for short game practice. Currently overpriced for the condition that it is in. The pace of play on a Sunday afternoon was great, I had no one in front of me and played in 2 hours. Hopefully the grass starts growing soon, it is usually in much better shape.
This was a terrible experience. We got kicked off the course for doing absolutely nothing wrong. Staff was rude and disrespectful. Old lady was especially rude. Overall I would not recommend 0 to 10 I would write -5 stars if I could. Other members here will report you if you come. Awful.
Love the staff on Sundays (didnt get his name but hes retired from Shreveport). Reserved a tee time online and paid online which made the process super easy. They had my cart pulled up front and ready to go. This course is interesting and you will use every club in the bag for sure. First 9 were longer drives and the back nine were primarily Par 3s. Good for any skill level. Practice greens and the driving range were good. The driving range has some cool floating greens which adds some great practice. When we pulled up after our rounds, our guy met us at our car and even loaded my clubs for me.Clean, friendly, and fun! Had a blast at this course!
The Palms Golf Club at Forest Lakes is a truly unique layout. The new Palms Golf Club is a par 64 course that will challenge every aspect of your game regardless of how good or bad you are. You’ll find four sets of tees with distances ranging 2,731 and 4,545 yards, making it a great course for juniors and newcomers to the game. Celebration fairways, mature trees and TifEagle greens that typically run about 10.5 – 11 on the stimpmeter make for great golfing conditions. What makes the “Presidential”-style course so unique is that the front nine is a regulation-length nine with a par of 35 while the back nine features 7 par 3’s and two par 4s for a par of 29. In essence, it’s two totally different nine-hole layouts, each with their own special features. Regardless of your skill level, you’re probably going to use every club in your bag. And several golf balls too! There are several holes out here that you won’t soon forget, starting with the first. You can’t see it from the back tee, but there’s a creek down the left side that crosses the fairway about 220 yards out and can ruin what you thought was a great tee shot. Take something a little less off the tee, and leave yourself a short pitch onto a flat, relatively small green protected by a single bunker front right. The shorter “Presidential” back nine starts with one of the toughest holes on the course. It’s a narrow par 3 that plays 177 yards from the back tees with trees down the right side and a retention pond on the left that shouldn’t come into play. In fact, there’s nothing good to the left! The green is fronted by a bunker front right. Par is a great way to start this nine.If for some reason you don’t feel like playing a round of golf at The Palms Golf Club, it’s a great place to practice and hone all aspects of your game. The aquatic driving range has several floating target greens and is long enough to let you hit every club in the bag, while the short game area and practice putting green let you practice all of your shots on and around the green. Is your company or organization is planning a golf tournament or outing? The Palms Golf Club is worthy of consideration; after all, they are the most accommodating people in golf! Whether you’re looking for a traditional stroke play event, a four-person scramble, a golf marathon or something totally unique, the staff is there to help you maximize the profitability of your event!Because of its layout, it’s appealing to more golfers than a typical championship course, meaning you’re likely to attract more players. The front nine is the perfect place to host a 9-hole league. It’s a par 35 that plays almost 3,000 yards and has a par 5. Throw in some cold beers after your round and a few hot dogs and you’ve got all you need for the perfect league setting! The back nine is perfect for groups looking to play 9 holes, have a drink and enjoy some fun and camaraderie, all in under 2 hours! The Palms Golf Club welcomes all different types of organizations, professional associations, groups, and clubs. It may not be your typical regulation length championship golf course but The Palms Golf Club at Forest Lakes is a challenging layout that provides a variety of holes, water features, mature landscaping, and more! Best of all it can usually be played in about three hours. I challenge you to find a golf course anywhere that has a friendlier staff and is more welcoming than The Palms Golf Club at Forest Lakes. The club is located minutes from Siesta Key, Bird Key and Lido Key on one of Sarasota’s busiest streets, Beneva Road. The Palms Golf Club at Forest Lakes is a semi-private club meaning it’s open to the public. It’s very popular with locals, visitors and snowbirds alike. Memberships are available
Overall not a very great golf course and experience. Me and a couple friends checked in for a 3 o’clock tee time without being notified of the course closing at 5:30. We paid for 18 holes but didn’t play 18 holes due to the staff chasing us down and saying we need to come in. Staff was very rude and disrespectful as we walked in the door judging our age and not being very friendly. Also chasing us down at 530 to get our carts they were rude and very rushed to leave. The staff rushed us to the point where he drove off before I was able to gather my score card and make sure all my personal belonging were off the course. The only thing I enjoyed about this course was the layout/setup of the course but the fairways and greens were vary clay like and had sandy patched in the middle of the fairway which made it hard for a clean game.
Staff is kind of awkward and comes off rude at times, especially that one lady. I always feel a bit off when talking to any of the staff at this course in particular. Its like theyre all equally mad about something but are trying their best to hide it at work and then the negativity slips sometimes. Seems like the same negative energy is softy lingering behind the soul of each employee. Im sure they mean well though.Fun course. worth a shot!
Quirky layout, however it will pluck your nerves Deal with it!!have fun
This was my first visit and did not go as expected. Our day didnt start well when the guy at the counter was a bit rude when I questioned the pricing. I got an email from Big Summer Golf card for special pricing, and the lower pricing showed online but the guy at the disk didnt care and said I dont know why your showing me this, i cant do anything about it in a snarky tone.We were then given ball vouchers for the driving range but the machine which was broken. The carts are also not in the greatest shape. They are gas powered and in varying degrees of tuned up.They also would only give us 2 carts for 4 people which goes against the current guidelines suggested for golf. The ball washers were also not covered up.The course itself is nice and pretty challenging though. Small greens make it an interesting challenge. The greens roll fast and true though, some have some areas that need repair but overall theyre good. The silver and gold tees vary a lot in distance and make the course play very different which is nice.
Fast greens if you are looking for PGA speed. They keep this course in great shape. Totally worth the season price.
I love this course with my whole heart! :D
I always enjoy playing here, regardless of how bad I play. Great deal, nice people.
We played the Palms Golf course today and thoroughly enjoyed it! The staff is very nice and eager to make your experience enjoyable. The course is in great shape and challenging for the medium handicap golfer. We have already made our tee time for next week.
Fun, little golf course with friendly staff. Fairways are full and greens role fast and true. GPS golf carts with iced coolers. This course has a municipal feel. It’s not anything lavish but the course design is fun and competitive for all ages and handicaps.
Always fine golfing here with my dad. Hes a member regular
They are operating on limited funds and it shows. If you want a cheap place to play golf and dont care much about course conditions this is your site. The staff is nice enough to offset the poor condition of the course.
Great course. Great price
Well maintained greens n fairways! Really enjoyed it! Will be back!
We love this course. The greens and fairways rank with other private courses in the area and the staff is incredibly hospitable and welcoming. The practice area ranks among the best in the area and I love being able to play the course in under three hours. Although it can be busy during season we never have a problem. We never go to golf courses for gourmet food but as far as a cold beer and a hot dog or burger goes, it doesn’t get better. We will be back
The Palms at Forest Lakes is a great local facility and tremendous value. The layout is a bit quirky but very fun, challenging and playable for players of all skill levels, and the greens are in great shape which is what matters most IMO. For the space, it is hard to picture a better course and the location is amazing, right in the center of town! Even if you are not going to play a round, the practice facilities are the best public facilities that I have found in the area with a nice short game area and solid range. The people here are very friendly and have plenty of character. I would recommend giving the Palms a shot!
Abraham, crossing the street is very safe. There are cross buttons that you push that actually turns the stop light red for traffic. Maybe you just weren’t paying attention. Anyway, considering the reasonable rates, the course is in very good shape. The greens are comparable to other $100 green fee courses in the area. Considering the length of the course(short) it is a good challenge for even a scratch golfer. I play this course at least once a week and would recommend to anyone who wants to test their iron play.
I’ve been playing golf at this course for almost a year now. The entire staff has always been very accommodating from the moment I’ve pulled into the lot, at the turn for a refreshment, or after my round of golf for a hot dog and a drink. I’ve kept coming back as the greens are always the best in the area especially for the price. If you’re looking for the ultimate premier country club experience and want to pay $100 plus a round well then you may want to look elsewhere. If you’re looking for a great round of golf locally with great seasonal rates and service from an exceptional staff then this course is for you.
Great little course. Check-in went smoothly. Very friendly employees. Greens absolutely flawless. Front side harder, longer, and will test your abilities. Back has mostly par 3s and is much friendlier. Fairways acceptable. Fees reasonable. Go there. You will enjoy it.
Nice course. Maintained well and very fast greens.
A few tee boxes are within range of others causing wait time. Layout is a maze. Greens are small but in great shape. Staff were great inside and out. Good place to get acquainted with your irons.
Course conditions were fair. Needs some TLC.
The Palms is one of the few courses where you are able to improve your short game and putting. Plenty of opportunities to use woods. The greens are awesome. This course was abandoned for many years and the owner and staff have spent considerable time and effort bringing it back to life and they have succeeded. They are working hard to make this course even better. The staff is awesome!! To those people who left horrible reviews, if you have an attitude and feel entitled then you are not welcome here. Im sure there are other courses (that cost a whole lot more) that you might be able to play, but I can assure you that they wont put up with bad manners either.
We really enjoy playing at the Palms Golf Club. The owners, managers and staff are all very friendly. I have taken lessons at the course which were really helpful and reasonable. The course is in great condition and great for ladies who just like to have fun! There are coolers on the carts for wine or champagne and the GPS makes it easy to hit a great shot. I give it a 5 star rating.
DO NOT buy a summer membership here. 300$ and they say you can walk the course whenever you want. Except when they send everybody out on the front and don’t start anyone on the back.
They have one of the best golf camp programs for Jrs in the state of Florida - several families of Family of Christ in Tampa are planning to make the drive just because of the feedback they have received! Word travels fast about such a great property with impeccable owners, management and staff. Its a treasure in Sarasota!
Great little course. A challenge! Wonderful greens. If you can score here you can play anywhere. Staff and ownership are superior. They go out of there way to accommodate everyone. This is by far the BEST BARGAIN of ANY course in the area, plus you can WALK and a driving range to boot. Its a NO BRAINER!!!
Nice course but they dont take cash.
A short but challenging golf course. Our league plays here and we enjoyed the friendly staff and atmosphere. The greens are some of the best in the area. We come back here year after year. Sven, Susan and Jeff are like extended family to our group.
Absolutely love the course. Very challenging for us amateurs. I Get so close to shooting par and it’s those one or 2 holes that keeps me from doing that. But it brings me back all the time!
I have played this course hundreds of times. Greens are especially good. A great course for me and my friends. Staff is very pleasant and accommodating. Would recommend it to anyone.
I tend bar here at The Palms. Our beer and wine bar is OPEN TO THE PUBLIC! I have been tending bar locally for almost 5 years. This is my first golf club and I want to mention the customers have been sensational!! Our Golfers say our greens are the best in Sarasota, our range is great..our temporary club house is homey and comfortable. Our mens and women leagues are fun and everyone is invited! I am enjoying my employment here at The Palms and ready for another fabulous season! Thank you!
I enjoy playing the Palms. Great place to walk under 2.5 hours. However, price to walk 18 should be more like $15. Greens are always in good shape.
Challenging layout and great greens. The staff are ALWAYS very helpful and attentive. A great experience and value!
Just golfed today. Great time, great staff.
Great little course and reasonable prices, they only take debit or credit cards, not cash . The pars 3 are many but tougher than you think .
Absolutely love the course, love the scenery, and very reasonably priced. My only problem was how poorly I was treated at the front counter. The young lady at the counter made me feel like I was a bother to be there, and when I didn’t hear her question, she went back to watching golf on tv. Love the golf course, very displeased by the customer service.
Awful experience
People working here are really very nice people. The problem today that the greens are too fast for a fun round of golf. The greens were running at 11.5 to 12 speed. Also the fairways have very tight grass. The course needs a good rain to loosen the fairways. I enjoyed one day here but will not come back ...
Not sure what is up with this Kim family and all the negative reviews but I think they have some real problems. Perhaps they all got hit with a golf ball in the head at another golf course. We love the course the workers and the staff so do us all a favor and don’t come back! We have many other courses to recommend to you losers. And by the way, we know you didn’t play the course, there were no toenails in the soup(because they don’t serve soup) and we know you live and work in stamford ct.
Short corse and fun to do with friends or family.
A good test of your golfing skills. Youll hit every club in your bag. The greens are perfect, but very difficult. The front nine is a full length par 35 with just one par5. A very tough par5 I might add. The back 9 has two par 4s, and.the rest par 3s, but only one is short...mostly mid irons. The best part, it is 5 minutes from downtown Sarasota and you can play it in just over 3 hours. A hidden gem.
Very nice executive course. Front 9 a legit par 35 it has 1 par 5 2 par 3 6 par 4. The back is 2 par 4 7 par 3. Made for a nice change of pace and cant beat the cost. They do ask during the summer month to have cart back so they can close up at 6pm. The driving range is pretty kool. They have 4 floating greens so you can work on your irons. Wild concept hitting into water... Fun time.. Great for beginners to advanced players. Janet really enjoyed the course. Women get a nice advantage from tee boxes. Played the Gold (tips) Tees while she played the Turquoise Tees.Great day even with the monsoon that held us up for a solid 49 mintues. Worth your while.
Great golf. The greens are rhe best
Course is really nice and clubhouse staff are exceptional!
Played there a few times does not take cash. Play is very slow. I don’t like staff telling me to rush my game because of a larger group coming in after us and plus we were waiting for many people ahead of us.
The woman who tends bar has a bad attitude and doesnt understand customer service. The course is fair, greens are in good shape but it is very overpriced. Unfortunately, no loyalty to people who play there through the summer. I guess Ill be playing somewhere else.
Greens were rough and hard. Tee boxes were in rough shape. Back 9 is very short and pretty a par 3 course. Only reason Ill give it a two stars is because I shot good. 30 bucks was too much pay for how bad condition the course is in.
Suzie was a great host. The greens were great. The course is appreciated.
I played the original Forest Lakes many times in the eighties and nineties. The new course does not resemble the old course at all.One great feature...3 hours to play.I really loved the front 9. Regulation par 35... one par 5, some longish par 4s, two par 3s that are not easy. The holes are fair but you better hit it straight. Fairly easy to loose golf balls there. The back nine is mostly par threes. I cant say any of them are easy, even though some are very short. The final par 4 is a good finishing hole.I give the greens 4.5 stars. I would give it 5 except they are so firm you have to play short because you cant spin a ball on them well . They roll very nice, Not real fast, but far from slow. Pay attention to the grain.
Nice course and great driving range that includes bunker, green and chipping area. The staff is very welcoming and helpful, we are starting to play here every week.
Funky layout but had fun
The course is in great shape. It is a fun course and the staff is helpful, friendly and very knowledgeable.
We played the course last week..The greens are awesome and the course is in amazing shape. Its challenging for sure, and we did lose a few balls! We used to play forest lakes in the hay days and it has never been in better shape. good value for money and we cant wait to play it again! Also, the aqua driving range with the floating islands is not to be missed!
Great greens. Fairways need work.
Not worth the money for the condition of the course and the lady inside the clubhouse was very rude and unfriendly. We were going to buy something from the shop but quickly changed our minds
Love this place Svenn is a great guy and always makes me feel welcomed and important.
Here is the good: The greens are in superb shape. Actually, they are just phenomenal. Even though most of the players here don’t fix their ball marks, they were just impeccable. These are greens that you see on much, much nicer courses. With that being said, if my review keeps just one person from wasting their money at this place then my 15 minutes writing this is worth it. I don’t even know where to begin. I purchased a foursome from Golf Now and my email confirmation clearly indicates it was valid for 18 holes and meals were included. When I arrived to check in, the gentleman said that I only paid for 9, not 18, and that a meal was not included. But my email confirmation shows 18 and meal included. Please reference the attachment below. Honestly, this man was just clueless and after 20 minutes I was too frustrated to continue. I figured I would just continue to play the back 9 anyways and just pay for a meal somewhere else. From the looks of the place, the included meal probably would have been contaminated anyway.Awesome practice area, but if you’re a long hitter stay away. You won’t have room for woods and probably not even a 3-4 iron if you hit them 210 and beyond. The course itself; layout is just one of the most poorly designed courses I have played. It’s short. I get that. But this is not a course where the majority of golfers were playing were how you would say, “good”. The issue with that is the green and the next tee box are just too close to each other. If two people are teeing off simultaneously, then you need a spotter because if someone is just a fraction off, you’re in danger. Even with a spotter, this is just not a safe course. Which leads me to hole 12. We were teeing off 12, a couple of kids were teeing off 11. We are watching them just in case. We lose their ball in the sun and it nails our cart in flight. Three feet away from a playing partner. Could have killed her. No fore. No watch out. No nothing. Not even an I’m sorry. Kid knew he was wrong because he didn’t even finish playing out the hole and they kept their distance from us. Being that they were a twosome and we had four we decided to let them play through. But they refused. Probably because they were too scared of us because they knew they were in the wrong. We called the course to send out a ranger and they don’t even have one. And this leads to another issue with this course. Absolutely no course disciple. Ridiculous. They sent out the cart washer. He said that the kids claimed they yelled fore. Now it’s the word of four adults vs two kids. Who are you really going to believe? But our issue was that they refused to play through. The “ranger” would not enforce that. He left and two holes later there was a major back up because this twosome would not play through our group of four.My point is this is the clientele that you will see at this course and the course is not willing to do their job when it comes to course management. A quote from the man in their “pro shop”: “I am the only one here, what do you want me to do?”. Sir, I want you to do your job. These kids were bad. Shots all over the place. On a course like this with its sub-standard setup, that is just dangerous. We had to call in a second time to get that “ranger” to come back out to escort them ahead of us. Then they began to eight-putt and chip at will, practicing the short game that they evidentially don’t have, slowing the pace of play. We could have cared less because we were letting other twosomes and a single play through. But now the entire course was backed up not just because of these clowns, but because the course would not enforce anything. Their play and the clear negligence of the course staff to enforce proper pace of play made it a miserable experience for about four groups. Please, $18 for 9 holes is a joke. I probably wouldn’t pay $18 for 18 holes here. There are much better choices in town. Please, stay away from this place at all costs. Do not waste your money here, you will be disappointed.
Nice people, course in rough shape.
Decent course nice layout!!! Service is unprofessional an rude
Great little course...greens can be tricky...front 9 is a terrific mic of 3, 4 and one par five...back 9 is mostly par 3 and a few par 4s...nice layout and best played walking.
Nice course, need some upkeep work, some fairways are narrow.
Staff treats you top shelf you are number one in social and helping enjoying your day at the palms no problems in getting around at this course I really like the test of your game the staff is very friendly and treat you as a pleasure to play there thanks for your smiles
Watch buying coupons for this place because they dont honor them and then they give you a fit. And then you get someone thinking that you want to play for free. And then they want to yell at you. We will never go back. And I do not recommend this place at all.
Greens are very nice. Staff very friendly. Needs plenty of work on Fairways and so on. We will play it again
Way overpriced for what it is. If you need to rent clubs dont go their 20 bucks a pop. Will not go there again
The greens were in great shape....but whoever set the pins was nutty....five hole were goofy golf because of pin placement....too close to 2nd tier...you could not stop ball near pin.
Nice place....relaxing
Great little par 3 course. You can even use your drive most holes. Challenging too.
Fun course to play, priced fairly, staff very nice
I didnt go to the Palms I was walking my dog.
Nice staff, very dry course, didnt like the second nine, too many par 3s.
Generally well kept and has reasonable prices for green fees and cart. However, no GPS.
Inexpensive, uncrowded, great place to practice short game. 9 holes in about an hour.
I enjoyed the friendliness of the staff, the nice clubs I got to practice and most of all the very helful advice from golfpro Jay Nash. It has been fun there, I will come back. Best regards from Tanja.
Greens actually roll fast. Range is awesome too
Friendly staff. But what a ripoff!Back nine all short par 3s except for 18 which is a monster 235 from the white tees.Paid $45 in March- ridiculous to charge. Maybe $20...maybe.This is a wannabe championship course living in lala Land!!
Fun spot for my first attempt to play!!
If it was not for the distance between t-boxes it been great. Greens are well maintain, fairway were clean.
Really nice golf club and price is right.
Very narrow and tight, over all course in good condition.
I love this course! Definitely Not to be missed!
Lousy / terrible customer service . Will never, ever go back there .
All but 2 holes on the back side are par 3s! Wasnt happy!
Fun place good iron practice
This golf course was overpriced for the terrible conditions. The fairways are like hard pan. So many other choices, avoid this one.
Love the Location and the Aqua Driving Range!
Need Improvement on the fairways.
Great,relaxed afternoon.
Great little golf course
Course in pretty rough shape, most personal were friendly except the bar maid who seemed to be having a bad day and took it out on us. My wife will not go back.
This little course is challenging and fun!

Short course,
Great executive course.
Great time to be had
