The first time I wasn’t able to ski with partner, and we came back this year during thanksgiving week when it was closed due to COVID. That didn’t stop the true skiers from hiking up to the mountain to get some runs in. There is two ski lifts, one for the beginner side and one for the intermediate/advanced. I highly suggest wearing a backpack with a water pak to pack your ski skins and other things that get in the way of hiking up the mountain with skis etc. They have a food court here but food is not that great and incredibly expensive! So pack your own cooler and bring it nearby or leave it in car to go snack on if you don’t want to loose time for skiing. For others who don’t ski, it gets really crowded with those who don’t ski, so i suggest bringing in something to entertain yourself with. In winter wear snow shoes that are durable, waterproof clothing is best so snow can slip off - gloves are a must! Really wish there was some lessons available or it wasn’t shut down because of COVID to rent but in the long run it is better to have your own skis and boots and gear for times where resorts are closed.

A non-ski review. Only for the summer views. These are summer photos. Great for summer hiking and camping, not just skiing in winter. I visit often since my moms family is from here. It is so peaceful up here on the mountain. Every season is great up here to visit. Stop to read about the aspens and take in the views. They won’t be there forever. They are a network of trees. Autumn is by far the best season to visit. You won’t regret the views!—tip make time for the spa on the way back. Its on the way!

Ski Santa Fe is my local mountain, and we do love skiing here. Its a small mountain, but its incredibly easy to get to, and it packs a surprising amount of terrain into a small area. There are decent amenities, good parking and shuttle systems, and by and large the staff is amazing. However, I am critical of several things: investment in infrastructure, lack of community participation, and inter-resort cooperation. Several lifts have been added in recent decades, but more attention has been paid to gimmicky elements--like a moving carpet loader on the quad chair-- than to speed and capacity. The chairs at Santa Fe are very slow-- higher speed would help compensate for the limited vertical one can get on a run.Ski Santa Fe does not participate in any sister resort pass sharing programs, except with Sandia Resort, which is owned by the same family. It would be lovely if Santa Fe worked with other areas in NM, AZ, UT, CO...I feel like Santa Fe wants to isolate itself, and thats a shame.Ski Santa Fe also does not like to engage in community events or fundraising, creating a hostile environment for nonprofit ski charities and forcing them to areas like Sipapu. To end on a more positive note, Ski Santa Fe DOES maintain an active and robust adaptive ski program, allowing skiers with disabilities full access to the slopes. They also allow uphill skiers (with some limitations and rules), which is a lot more than can be said for many other areas. Its overall a great little mountain, I just have issues with some of their management choices.

We visited in February 2020. Our son participated in the ski school. The slopes are well maintained, staff is friendly and they were very accommodating with our sons choice to ski instead of taking the snowboarding class that we initially signed him up for. It was a great experience for a first-time skier. We will definitely visit again.

Ski Santa Fe was amazing they had very friendly staff welcoming us there everyday while we were there. the slopes were great there was plenty of snow and fresh powder everyday we were there. I will admit, as someone who normally skis the canyons in Utah, I wasn’t expecting much from this resort. To my pleasant surprise this resort was pretty good and I had a great time. The Pros: Ample snowfall and nice groomed runs, not that crowded even on a Saturday, virtually no lift lines, plenty of fun trails to check out and explore (I recommend the Adventure Land run, it’s a blast). The Cons: I had to take a star away from this review because the lifts are ancient, they don’t have a high speed lift and the lifts are sloooow. They also keep stopping on the way up the mountain, Several times The lift stopped 6 or 7 times just on one trip up the mountain, it was infuriating. They could also do a better job of placing the large trail maps at the top of the lift near where you get off. Many of them are off to the side in an awkward place.

What a delight to spend a summer day enjoying the 72 degree mountain air! This ski resort is just over 20 miles from Santa Fe, New Mexico, but a world away from the heat of west Texas. When you visit Santa Fe for a vacation, take 3 or 4 hours out of your day to relax under the pines and aspens. There are campgrounds and hiking trails all along the way to the resort. The resort itself is closed in the summer, but you can walk around and enjoy the view, or go for a hike if thats your thing. And if you like rocks, there are granite boulders to admire and fantasize about sneaking into the trunk of the car to place in that special spot in the yard at home. If thats your thing.

We visited Ski Santa Fe around the New Years holiday. Workers told us the place was very busy, but there was enough room that it didnt feel crowded. We stayed in Santa Fe and drove up a mountain each day of our trip. All wheel drive tires or snow tires are recommended, however we found the road fairly easy to navigate as it was freshly plowed each day before we arrived and also plowed again before we left at the end of the day. The kids learned to ski at this mountain! We signed them up for a couple days of ski school lessons oh, and by the end of it they were completely independent. Mom and Dad spent that time just exploring the mountain. Food was high quality and the lifts were quick and operational the whole time. We will return in the future!

Great location, close to town. That being said, if it is a snow day do not drive up without 4 wheel drive or snow chains. You can buy good chains for most cars at Pep Boys in town. Came here with older parents, so didnt do the ski slopes, but the drive up here was incredible and just an amazing experience for those not used to this kind of terrain (were from Texas). In the Spring, views can be seen all around with all the little road side parking areas, but during the winter the snow plows hindered the opportunity to get out and look from those same areas. Other than that, both seasons to come out here was absolutely stunning! Love driving on this road!

Ga
Review №21

An outstanding resort. While the decision to close early is reasonable, a price freeze for next season’s prices is insufficient. 109 days of good skiing, plus the 30 days early closing, means that season pass holders lost 21% of our ski days. This should be rectified by a 15% decrease for next season’s passes. This would show good faith and that your responsibility to your customers are satisfied. The amount lost this year to 1, 2 and 3 day passes, will be saved in the reduction of operating costs.

I went during the summer so I dont have much to say as far as what the skiing is like. I will say that it was fun going out there for hiking and there are tons of great views up there. If you hike far enough up you can see the lakes at the peaks. On the way up theres a lovely little stream. Parking was free and we were allowed to just walk up. I dont know if its always free during the summer, but it was the day we went and that was wonderful. As far as we could tell there werent any open restrooms during the summer.

Beautiful skiing for all levels! My wife found the never ever having skied before course useful and was able to complete Easy Street after only that lesson! Impressive instructors and very cool and courteous staff. I went up the quad lift and skied the green circle Santa Fe Trail, which was beautiful and achieveable for late beginners and early intermediate skiers. Rental process went well, and staff at both the shop and chalet were great! The rest of the mountain is more difficult, but as beginners we definitely got what we paid for! Well done!

Quite a nice resort. The views are spectacular. Not very big, but not so small as some others around. You can basically see the whole mountain in a day but still not get bored. Popular ski slopes with kids ski school, plenty of group ski classes at the level of your choice, good size mountain with slopes at varying levels of difficulty and enough lifts to keep the lines reasonable. They do offer helmets, skis, snowboards, and boots for rental. There is a restaurant at the top of the first ski lift and a cafeteria style eatery in the main lodge at the bottom of the area. While they can get crowded at times, there are parking shuttles so you dont have to walk all the way.

Review №53

First, getting there is pretty easy. The drive up from town wasnt so bad, some curves but nothing too bad. I usually get car sick but the drive wasnt curvy enough to make me sick. There is also a bus you can take. When you get there parking was convenient and people were there to guide you to where to park. There were greeters also at the entrance which was very welcoming. The rental area was well organized and well staffed so it went quickly. Our son and my husband took lessons which they enjoyed. They took snowboarding lessons. My son was the only one in class since the rest chose ski lessons. It was hard and I think a half day would have been better for him over full day. He is 7 by the way. The chipmunk corner was great with friendly staff. This area is just for kids and has a moving carpet type escalator instead of a lift which is great for beginners. In the other part of the ski area there is another moving carpet/escalator which is great for children and adult beginners who dont want to use a chair ski lift. The beginners area can feel quite crowded though so go early to get there before the crowds of lessons go through. The other ski areas looked fun for more experienced skiers. Also the food court was surprisingly tasty. There were vegan burgers and pasta with marinara for vegetarians. That was a huge plus for us. We also brought snacks and people bring coolers if youd like to have your own food instead. The food court was good for me to sit and wait for my family while they took classes. There are some places with electric plugs for charging. The wifi works but is very slow so dont rely on it. If your kids are in chipmunk corner there are windows you can see them from as well. The ski shop has basically all you would need in case you forgot something or just want to buy gear there. We got a ski jacket for our son that was great. All in all Ski Santafe is a great place that I would enjoy returning to.

Ski Santa Fe is a very fun time. Lots of runs to maneuver around and spread out on, keeping the runs from getting too full. Weather during Christmas time is the best, as it is colder. Ive been coming here on and off for over 10 years now, so this Ski Resort has changed a lot. I love the park they added about 10 years ago, but dont love that they keep it closed during their busy weeks. I do know it is to keep people safe, but still looked forward to it when we went up last week. The views are very pretty and when the snow falls it is downright scenic. I love coming here and will continue to do so, as long as I am able to snowboard. THE ONLY complaint I have is that there is nowhere set aside for little ones to tube or sled. They have plenty of property and you think that they would have thought that one through, as not every kid wants to ski or snowboard. I know they have Chipmunk Corner, but that is not an area for sledding or tubing. If they could fix this then I would give them 5 stars. All in all this place is worth the money and is a helluva good time!
