This is a bit of a landmark in Santa Fe and definitively a must if you want to become familiar with what’s hot in terms of folk, Spanish and local art in the area. I’ve been here a few times and always enjoy the highly political art in display. It is a nice addition to the art scene here and it provides for a great non-threatening and casual gallery atmosphere.
Stumbled across this privately owned museum just roaming around. Its with four other museums at a place called 5 Museum Hill, for those vacationing who would like to get some Culture. Its $10.00 to get inside, and you are allowed to take pictures, unlike some of the other museums. The items are numerous.
Very unique and interesting place. Not sure its worth $10 per person, but interesting nonetheless.
Hey NM residents! Did you know that you get into NM Museums for FREE on the 1st Sunday of each month? I highly recommend you visit this museum! Lee is very nice. And the bathrooms are very clean. Go check then out! Buy something from the Museum Shop!
Small museum, but well curated. The childrens room featured Spanish Colonial style art made by children and teens.
This museum is fantastic and a gem. It houses a rich collection of art that truly exemplifies the history of northern New Mexico. A must attend museum!
Loved this museum! While its a relatively small museum (we explored and took in the whole museum in about an hour) and it didnt contain an extensive collection of artifacts, the GenNext exhibit was amazing! As were all the other current pieces--filled with color, texture, depth and reason to pause. Would definitely recommend!
Wonder space but extremely light on artifacts - given location and admission price was expecting much more
Kinda boring and small. Entrance fee should be much lower.
A really neat museum in a awesome SW house.
Very disappointed. This museum is misnamed. It is about “contemporary” Spanish Colonial art. These are works by “Next Gens” from 2017 and 2018 who in their works rewrite history based on their impressions in today’s world. This gallery has very little to offer regarding anything of historical value or accuracy.
Really a bit disappointed. Expected more. Small musuem compared to others on Musuem Hill. Spanish in this case referred to Mexican. Guess I was expecting more classical Spanish.
My 3 and 5-year old love the garden and Arts Alive program they offer. They enjoyed walking through the exhibits as well!
Simply put: outdated. The Museum of Spanish Colonial Art in Santa Fe, New Mexico boasts to explore the Spanish colonial arts and crafts from the 1600’s to the present, yet failed to do so. The small exhibit area, with very little artifacts, was not even educational. I asked the man in-charge at the desk where the Philippine exhibits were located, and surprise, he cannot tell me which section of the room! Most of the time, the man was just tinkering on the computer and was never accommodating.Even if Santa Fe is promoting this museum, do not visit and waste your $8 for the entrance fee. You can learn about the Spanish Colonial Art somewhere else, not here.
Excellent resource on history of Santa Fe.
The most beautiful pieces of history Ive had the pleasure of appreciating.
$10 entry fee, very small museum, most everything is from the 20th and 21st century. Its really just a nice Spanish Colonial gallery.
Great! Get the museum city pass.
A diamond in our community. What beautiful preservation of history, talent, and feeling.
Exhibit was small but interesting guest artists.
Revolutionary work that challenges the rhetoric of the current day America
Fabulous informative displays.
Small museum. Went to see Frida Kahlo photographs.
Great little museum
Great staff who really know art!
I like the concept of this museum but it is too expensive to get in. There arent many things to see.
Its a VERY small museum alittle off the beaten path. $10 to see photos of Frieda.
Beautiful museum
Opened up new realities for me about Spanish colonization of the American Southwest.
