Beautiful space. We visited 8/5/19 and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. We were greeted warmly and were given details about the museum. A fourteen minute video on Ms O’Keeffe runs continuously near the entrance. We were approached by two different docents who offered their services and answered questions. The works of Ken Price were also on display. A nice gift shop is opposite the admission desk offers many lovely selections. Highly recommend.
When you come in, they will issue you a key to a small locker you can put your stuff in ( coats, bags, etc.) So you dont have to lug it all around the museum. Take advantage of the opportunity to sit and stare at this art. OKeeffe is amazing and so diverse, so there will be something that speaks to you on a new level, even if you thought you knew her style before. When you leave, you will feel like youve met her, loved her, and lost her. It is moving.
Worth your $13!! The museum changes out every few months. A few highlights:- Download the app, it’ll guide you and give you additional information!- It starts with amazing video of Georgia telling her story, make sure to watch the 15-minute video.- Free lockers to put your stuff in.- If you’re local, they’re always doing amazing events — first Friday’s, movie screenings, art classes, and date nights!
If possible try and visit outside peak hours. I like to see a painting from a few steps away, close up, and from different angles but the popularity of this museum makes it quite difficult to step away without having another visitor getting in between you and the painting. The exhibit provides sufficient reading material to follow the artists evolution and the short movie is a nice reminder of some highpoints.I liked the frame exhibition that documents her attention to detail. 98 years is a long time and much of her life is not presented or mentioned in the museum. Read a bit more before you go to get your imagination and speculations going.
One of the best museums Ive ever been to. Its $13 for an adult to get in but if youre a student its $11 which was nice. The museum itself was really large and filled with art. There are a lot of security guards that sort of breathe down your neck but I get it. There was a woman there to answer questions that knew a lot about Georgia OKeeffe who was extremely nice to my friends and I. I think her name was Connie but I might be wrong. Throughout the museum there was information about Georgia OKeeffe and there was also a 14 minute video about her. I would reccomend going this place to anyone.
Beautiful. Beautiful. Beautiful. A lovely museum with great artwork.
Quaint, lovely, and almost otherworldly collection from the legendary painter, Georgia OKeefe. Only small bags permitted and must be worn in front to avoid hitting works of art. Coat and bag check available. Museum store is well equipped with prints, books, etc. Definitely worth a visit while exploring the charming Santa Fe.
Excellent Museum: Santa Fe Museums are fantastic and this museum is the best in town. Amazing! This museum is well designed easy to access and features fantastic staff, gift shop and educational programming. A true treasure! A must see!
This was a lovely experience. It was interesting to see the video of her life with her own voice in much of it. The timeline on the wall created a sense of real context and the original work and artifacts gave a genuine sense of O’Keefe asa person and artist.
Fantastic collection, spanning her career. Also, a gallery of photographs of Georgia. An absolute must go in Santa Fe. Would recommend to Literally anyone who goes to the city. Georgia OKeeffe is a master, and some of her most beautiful works are right here. Her art is also spread across the city, so make sure to ask museum staff where to head next to continue your tour of Georgia OKeeffe.
This woman is one of my fave artists. The museum is easy to visit and many docents are available to answer questions. See the short film about her life and work because it helps you understand how her work changed over the years. You can take photos of most artworks too. Parking is a little dear so plan your time well.
Museum in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Must visit for the fans of Georgia OKeefe. Lots of abstract art. As Ms. OKeefe said, The wideness and wonder of the world as I live in. Try to visit Abiquiu, New Mexico, where her home and studio are located and a national landmark.
A great museum, especially if you like Georgia O’Keeffe’s work. We’ve always known her for her flower and bone paintings, but saw there was so much more we hadn’t seen before. It’s not a big museum, so expect to spend no more than an hour there.Gift shop is small, but in addition to many prints of her work, there are some locally made products sold there too
If you like Georgia OKeeffe this place has many of her originals and it was fun to see her progression from the big city to the wide open landscapes of New Mexico. Do take time to check out the video in the beginning, it gives a good progression of her history, her early time, mid times and..The staff was very nice, if in Santa Fe this is a good visit. Parking can be difficult.
Nice museum. Bought tickets that day so not an issue about standing in line. Check out the film before you tour the artwork.
A small museum, 9 galleries, that allows for contemplation at each Georgia OKeeffe painting. You can watch a video, too. A docent is always available, and both docents and guards are very knowledgeable and eager to answer your questions. The gift shop is small, but full of reasonably priced items. A pleasant atmosphere that needs to be on your itinerary when visiting Santa Fe. It is the only museum dedicated to a female artist, the greatest of the 20th century.
One of my favorite artists of all time I was like a kid in a candy store. I studied Georgia OKeeffe for years on art history and I simply live the way she explored the ordinary and forced us to Take Time to Look...
Always love coming here. Representative of her whole life collection and insights into her inspiration. Such an artist, such a life. Nicely laid out, great gift shop.
Great little museum lots of sitting benches and photography is acceptable with very few pieces of art not acceptable to photo. plaques have full detail of when the art piece was made and where they were made, some even have the inspiration behind the art. signs next to art work if your not allowed to photo. plus they have a room with her time line of every piece of art work she did and a education video of her life story and art inspirations.
Wonderful museum dedicated to Georgia OKeeffes life and artwork. I enjoyed learning more about the artist as much as I enjoyed seeing her art. Also interesting to see how her technique and style changed through the years.
A very well curated museum. We loved the dialogue between the Georgia OKeeffe works and the Kevin Price works. Really lovely testament to a wonderful artist.
This a a superb museum highlighting a very important American artist. The works chosen for display are far ranging and beautiful. The movie is a must to get the best flavor of her works. This is a destination museum and merits returning to many times.
Good museum. On first visit there was construction so we only saw the intro video and 3 pieces. A year later we saw the entire collection. Given the number of paintings she did in her lifetime, we thought this collection would have been larger. The free audio tour app was a nice addition to our experience.
Beautiful collection with a number of paintings and sketches that Ive never seen before. Wonderful history of her career and collaborations throughout the museum. Very well done and worth the fee.
The museum itself is good. The ladies at the entrance were not friendly but they might have been volunteering but would have been nice to be greeted. We had to put backpack in locker and that was no problem but woman behind us was not asked to do the same. The men/guards inside were not friendly and just follow you around. Not greeted at all in gift shop. I wish there were more paintings to see.
Some wonderful art work, unfortunately I came when 1/2 of the artwork was off the walls for photographing. Much of her work seemed very dark in mood. I found the brighter colorful more to my liking. Well maintained and a must see when in Santa Fe.
We bought tickets ahead of time and it happened to be a free day.. they reimbursed us no problem. Also they have an outdoor area and they were doing crafts for the kids which my kids thoroughly enjoyed. The artwork is your classic Georgia OKeeffe going through her timeline and history and they had some really nice pieces its not a big Museum
Beautiful little museum. Takes no more than one hour including reading all plaques. Good overview of the artists life.
I had a nice time with a friend. Certainly some beautiful work. I felt the videos really enhanced the experience, but the longer one is very visually outdated. Highly recommend that it be redone if at all possible.Loved looking around, wish there was more to see.
Georgia, oh sweet Georgia! I was born in Amarillo,TX and feed a healthy diet of Mrs. OKEEFEs work. This a must stop for anyone into Southwestern art! Get off your phones and go get some culture. This lady was the best female of her generation.
Ive wanted to go here for years! I was not disappointed.
A must see when your in Santa Fe! I spent 2 hours there & came back after lunch. Helpful staff & not at all crowded like some museums. All inspiring art work from a twentieth century legend. Afternoon is a better time to visit then mornings.
Fantastic! Absolutely inspiring! Just beautiful!
Superbly curated collection of my favorite modern artist. Thoughtfully organized galleries, excellent lighting, and a great staff. (Especially the security staff - efficient and observant, but also friendly and knowledgeable about the art.)Loved the counterpoint of pieces by a guest artist. My first experience with a self-guided tour app - every museum should do this, if only so one can view it again and again.Very good museum store - again, with attentive and educated staff.
The museum ended up being closed, but they had a small group tour of the historical archives collection and modern art library which the museum owns. Its phenomenal to be able to see the artifacts she used as inspiration and to hear about the processes she implemented to create the body of work she did. Not great for kids under 10, but teens and adults would find the tour interesting. The tour guide was very knowledgeable.
Not just a museum but a beautiful and enriching experience. O’Keeffe is a true treasure.
Great experience for these newcomers to Georgia OKeefe. The docent tour was hugely educational and delivered in a way that kept your attention. Lockers to store bag are great idea. Museum shop also really good.
WOW! wonderful place to visit and spend hours. From her early works to her last works you will not be disappointed. Check their hours- they fill up quickly.
Amazing history of such a historic figure! Remember your own headphones and download the free mobile app to take the free audio/video tour. Loved the staff giving tours and engaging kids with art!
They remodeled the entire museum and added many more of her paintings. Theres also a wonderful movie narrated by Georgia OKeefe. It is a wonderful place!
Amazing! Examples of her art starting all the way back in 1915. Candid photos and clips of interviews give you a sense of who she was.
Small but beautiful. You can put your things in a locker (no extra cost) so you can enjoy the experience. You leave there feeling like you really understand Georgia. As with any art, you really must see it in person.
It was nice and well thought out but only had a few of her famous pieces
It was truly inspiring being able to walk through and learn her life story through her art work. I’d learned about plenty of artists through my education and remembered her name, but I didn’t know how genuinely unique and inspiring she was. She was an amazing lady. Worth every penny even though there isn’t a large amount of her art work displayed here.
Georgia OKeeffe is a national treasure, and this museum is an ode to her life and work.It is inspiring to look at Georgias oeuvre since it spans so many artistic genres and defies categorization. This museum has loving collected most of Georgia OKeeffes works - from new mexico landscapes to abstract impressionist paintings.Do spend an afternoon at this place when you visit Santa Fe.
Fantastic museum, though Id like to see more of her work and the photos her husband took of her than the filter pieces by other artists.
The museum is not free but it is worth the price of admission. You are definitely going to learn more about Georgia then you realized existed, at least I did. There is an app that you can download and tells you more about each exhibit. This includes everything from items she had on her Ranch to drawings to pictures and videos. This is definitely worth walking to if you are visiting Santa Fe!
This was always on my bucket list, and it didnt disappoint, Ms. OKeeffe was not only a brilliant artist but a fascinating woman! The docents were very nice, knowledgeable and friendly. You can see her art, but to stand in front of them and look at them was amazing!!!
I loved this museum and getting to know her and her work better. It was nice to hear her voice in the movie near the entrance describing how her work evolved and how she viewed those around her. She makes amazing work look simple and makes commonplace things look genius.
My only complaint is the vast amount of the artists work, you always want to see more. There was a very nice documentary about her, but her works are so wonderful. A must see in Santa Fe.
Great museum! Nice staff and I even got to try color blindness correcting glasses and look at the art! Definitely worth visiting while you’re in Santa Fe.
Nice museum close to the plaza
Beautiful experience. We visited on a fall Friday morning and it was pretty busy. Your ticket receipt will allow you re-entry the entire day if you want to return. We enjoyed seeing her Art.
I really liked this museum. There is a continuous video showing the life and art of Georgia OKeeffe, which is remarkable. If you like this artist, you cannot miss this visit while in Santa Fe.
Small but amazing museum on this beloved artist. Watch the video In Her Own Words, very interesting and let you know so much about her
Amazing. Plenty of time to ponder each piece not crowded. Will definitely come back.
What a small charming museum dedicated to one artist.... Wisconsin artist Georgia OKeeffe. I saw so many wonderful works of art up close. They say she made the painting of clouds hanging the Chicago Art Museum with the idea that would have to hang in a huge space. The artworks here are much smaller and more intimate you will enjoy interacting with them.
A quick stop but well worth it for a classic example of American Modernism.
Small but informative, decent amount of works to view, and an in house movie about her.
Definitely worth to check out. Download the app if you want some info on some of the pieces there. I spent alittle under 2 hours there.
We really enjoyed our time at rhe Georgia OKeeffe museum. The guards were very knowledgeable on her art. A lot of her work is exquisite and she never cross brushes her strokes. I was surprised at how much they have on exhibit. They bought and sold some very expensive pieces recently. We may drive-by one of her homes on our way out of Santa Fe. The guard also suggested making reservations to tour her home as it can be pretty busy!
Beautiful art, and I was excited to learn more about O’Keefe. Unfortunately this is not a child-friendly establishment, as evidenced by glares and harsh words from security guards who followed us from room to room. We felt most unwelcome with our 2 year old. He was not badly behaved, just being two. Families with young children should avoid this place (which is probably what they want anyway). The staff are not friendly.
Wonderful exhibits and a chance to see not only some of what O’Keeffe is known for (florals and bones) but also her charcoals and early sketches. The entrance has a student discount ($11 vs $13). About 1 hour from Albuquerque.
Beautiful museum. Right around the corner from the plaza. Short video shares OKeefes life.
Friend of mine told me some of the paintings resemble lady bits..I was not disappointed
Some of her her famous works are housed here. There is an audio tour for purchase as well as a floating docent you answer questions as they come up. So glad I went!
I wanted to love the Georgia OKeeffe Museum but I just didnt. Its so small and the cost of entry definitely isnt worth it. Her most popular works arent even there so dont expect to see them during your visit. However my favorite peice was there so I lucked out a bit.In hindsight, I wish I would have skipped the museum and just went to the gift shop.
Very nice museum of art. Entry fee is reasonable for this quality of art. The facilities are well maintained and the art is well presented in each room. Staff is welcoming and helpful. Highly recommended. Check it out.
Fantastic. Great variety of works, spans her life. Calm, friendly museum. Reasonable amount of of no-flash photography.
Very interesting. Made me really appreciate Georgia OKeeffe.
Small, but excellent museum of Georgia OKeeffes works. Well organized so you are able to see her artistic development.
Great museum. Although psibtings were out bring photographed, they haveceveru visitor 1/2 off admission. Greatly appreciated.
I admire the work of OKeeffe & this museum is THE place to see many of her works in person. Its also within easy walking distance to the town square in Santa Fe.
Small but nicely laid out collection. We appreciated the free lockers and that kids under 18 got free admission. The contemporary art exhibit that was displayed alongside the main collection was interesting and a good complement to the work. Definitely watch the movie at the end, with a compilation of interviews with the artist.
The best part is probably the documentary room where you can see a timeline of Georgia’s life alongside other historical moments. The museum shop has beautiful merchandise.
Truly enjoyed this museum. How great!
An amazing look at the life and art of an iconic American artist. Well worth a visit.
The exhibits were very good but some of the staff was downright rude, on more than one occasion I was looked down upon (I am actually very well versed in Georgia OKeefe), I guess my look didnt fit the profile, also, the person in the gift shop couldnt be bothered, instead just thrust a piece of paper into my hand when I asked about price and availability of a print. Parking is also scarce and expensive (not the museums fault. I recommend only if you really like G.O.
Very interesting and lovely museum. A very good representation of her work on display, with a lot of her history. Enjoyed it very much. Only problem was finding parking.
It was closed...we understand that the covid has everything closed, but it did say online the museum was open...my friend ran in to see if they were open or closed...she said the person there was very rude.
The staff need to relax. The art is great but the staff stare at you the entire time like you’re up to no good. It really isn’t worth the money at the moment. Great though that there is a museum dedicated to O’Keeffe’s work.
Great museum for lovers of Georgia OKeefes work. They have a fantastic collection, and also have lots of great background materiel including early sketches for some of the pieces on display. Start with the fifteen minute movie. It is really interesting to hear from Georgia directly before you begin the tour. Total visit was just over an hour to comfortably see everything.
Very exciting visit for Georgia OKeefe fans. Nice space. Easy access to the main tourist area.
Wonderful museum. The collection is nicely curated, as it contains a lot of useful information that is coordinated with the way the paintings are exhibited.
The Highlight for me of the trip to Santa Fe was enjoying the Georgia OKeeffe Museum.. An excellent opportunity to see a wide variety of her work. I enjoyed the experience very much as well as the bio that they did of her life.
The museum shows several periods of her work and a few photographs of her husbands work. The staff is quite knowledgeable. The facility is clean. I had a really good experience.
It was absolutely worth every second
My God this woman was a treasure. Im not an art critic or expert but I was blown away by her use of colors and abstract patterns.
Great place for her art work & her life
I love georgia okeeffe so this was like a dream come true. It was a beautiful space and was quite expensive. I wish it was bigger honestly
Great, small museum. Pro tip: bring your own headphones and download the free audioguide on your phone.
Wonderful history about Georgia in her own words on video. Beautiful exhibit
Excellent museum for a small collection. The problem was there was no parking. Also the gift shop was closed. Museum staff were very friendly.
A great way to spend a few hours in Santa Fe, this is a must visit as they have an excellent collection of Georgia OKeeffe paintings. Highly recommended!
