Highly recommended during any visit to Santa Fe (Santa Fe has many great museums). Youll enjoy global folk art & culture from different eras. Located up on Museum Hill on the East side it is next to the Museum of Spanish Colonial Art, Museum of Indian Arts & Culture, Santa Fe Botanical Garden and the Museum Hill Cafe. A perfect place to spend an afternoon in Santa Fe.

A interesting museum packed with lots of folk art. Each piece is well lit, and displayed near other similarly themed art. It is interesting to see the take that different cultures offer for similar subjects. There is also a huge section dedicated to an industrial artist, which felt a bit out of place but otherwise was interesting.

An amazing little museum with New Mexican and International folk art, and tons of information discussing the nature of folk art vs fine art and mass produced art. There are a few hands on activities for children, but a lot of the exhibits are rather wordy, so to keep kids interested you will need to point things out and simplify phrasing. There are tons of cool sights kids might enjoy, but keeping them interested may be difficult, especially with any kid under 10.

Literally dreamt a thousand, beautiful dreams seeing the new Alexander Girard exhibit. The displays and curation are absolutely perfect. The details- exquisite... High on design, I bought a $24 Green Eyes mug from the gift store at closing- stumbled back out into the real world...but if only I could, I’d live forever in that moment of timeless design.

My associates and I visited this fine collection recently and we felt it was necessary to clarify that this is... just... A huge amount of dolls. If youre hoping to see culture relayed through other mediums and anything older than predominantly from the 1960s, you should probably find another museum. Unless you love about an acres worth of dolls. That are often existentially creepy. If thats the case, enjoy!
