This was a great little beach to visit, it wasn’t too busy when I visited. There was a good amount of parking but I could see it getting busy during the summer. Parking is two dollars an hour and it maxes out at $12. The bathrooms were clean but they do not have any doors for the toilets so keep that in mind.
In a city with great beaches, Leadbetter doesn’t disappoint. With easy access and parking its wide ample beach is more than good enough. Offering clean restrooms and a snackshack it also takes care of the basics. Please keep in mind that during the summer months it will get busy so plan to arrive early to snag a parking spot.
Public parking lot right next to beach. Beautiful beach - very clean. Dogs allowed.
Beautiful beach. Easy parking access. Not crowded
Leadbetter Beach is extremely clean and beautiful. There are convenient pay to park parking lots available for $2 an hour. The restrooms were clean and there were plenty of outdoor showers to rinse all the sand off. The beach wasnt crowded in the afternoon which made it nice to just relax and enjoy the boats and the waves.
We love it here. Lots of sand, relatively close to parking, and a beachside restaurant serving everything from sandwiches to alcohol. There are grassy picnic areas with tables (first come first served) and the swell is usually tame. People launch sail boats from there. Parking is $2 per hour with a $24 daily max. When its not too packed and the weather is nice, this is a great beach to spend the day at.
It was beautiful and quiet...not a lot of people. The only reason for 4 stars and not 5, is that there is a lot of seaweed in the water. So it kept wrapping around our legs and we were stepping on it in the water.
We love this beach! My mom and I never have a problem finding parking (and we refuse to pay for parking!). It is a beautiful location with lovely views and plenty of places to have a sit and enjoy them. We see people using the grills (although weve never done, we always bring a picnic at one of the available picnic tables). We also never bike but see people doing so all the time. Highly recommend!
Basic beach. Visited as a place to have dinner for take out during the pandemic indoor dining closures. Fee to park. No sunset view. People were enjoying the park area between the parking lot and beach. Has a walking/bike path.
Nice beach the only issue I had with it was that the parts of the beach down by pier smell like fish. The water is also pretty dirty. Definitely a nice spot to for running though.
Fun little beach. The girls didnt mind that my coonhound decided he was gonna go on over and say hi.Sorry no photos.
Great spot for surfing/ walk on the beach or watching 4th of July fireworks!
Beautiful beach we love Leadbetter not overcrowded and clean
Such a beautiful place to eat and amazing food!
This beach allows . They have a restaurant providing dine out option w/ patio and take out.
Great beach. Come here early if you want parking. Although we did come during peak August and stayed through the day for $12. Plenty of parking not sure if it just wasn’t busy or not like the crowded beaches of Santa Monica. The Shoreline cafe is right there. You can use theirs bathroom which is nice. You can stop in and have a drink but can’t bring to the beach. Clean, not a long walk to water but the water itself is a bit muddy.
Pay to get in, if you want the lot. Parking is limited. Grounds are nice. It could be busy.
The beach smelled strongly of oil, like an oil spill. Nice place to lay in the sun but the water was not that pleasant.
Super cool vibe. The harbor is full of long lost commercial fishing boatsBeaches nice and sandy has a private Club too.Theres a nice museum to be seen.Be sure to check out the seafood festival second weekend of October. If you love it fresh seafood they have lots. There are a few restaurants that are super yummy. Paid for metered parking. Parking is abundant but very busy and may take a moment to find parking.⛟ If you forgot your sunblock or need liquor there is a market tucked away in the shops and restaurants.
Simply amazing beach to go to.beautiful
Awesome beach! There is plenty of sand and space here! Jerry Jones yacht was posted up adjacent to Leadbetter beach. There are a couple of guard shacks to keep an eye on you. What also looked to be surfing lessions for the young ones. Of course if I was out and about to experience this beautiful spectacle of Santa Barbara then I was part of the problem; however, being as there were only 2 people in my party -inclusive of myself- then I do have half a leg to stand on when mentioning there were HUGE gatherings of folks on the beach. Just a mere few hundred feet from lifeguard shacks. Its ok though I dont much feel this pandemic is as terminal as it once was; however, it is just indicative of how troublesome the city is finding it to enforce regulations concerning large gatherings during coronavirus.
This beach is beautiful but it has a high homeless population. Public restrooms were locked and unavailable.
Good place to walk... at low tide.
I like it a lot... nice place to hangout.
Beautiful view of the beach & easy access to sand & waterPlenty of picnic tables
Lots of parking, lots of space. Can be a little kelpy.
Really loved this Beach, calm waters, very clean!
The water is usually riddled with kelp. The little flies are always present. Good seclusion with EZ parking, and the sand is nice....
Great safe beach for a family day
So fun! Didnt get to the water, but I loved the walk.
Nice beach, plenty of parking. Sandy sand and wet water!
One of my favorites for an evening stroll
As a Santa Barbarian, I should probably give this place one star and write terrible lies, but the truth is that its one of my favorite beaches in town. Its a local favorite, so its usually light on tourists and has parking, picnic tables in the grass and the Shoreline restaurant. You can sit in the sand and order drinks and really good food. You can also walk down to the Marina and Breakwater.
People were following the social distancing and mask or coverings orders. The beach was fairly clean but a lot of seaweed washed up the shore.
Fantastic weather-sunny light breeze and moderate temperature. My great Nieces birthday. Clean bathrooms, plenty of places to sit and relax either on the beach or on the grass. BBQ for those interested and a small place to eat. I could go on about the amenities but select for yourself and enjoy.
It was relaxing and a very calm place
I like to came here and enjoyin my time
Like any SB beach, its a great place to visit.
Absolutely beautiful. Parking is reasonable, too.
Waves are always very small. A lot of families and kids compared to other beaches in SB. Sometimes the sand is not very good, depending on how high the tide has recently been and if the sand has been groomed
QuietPlenty of parkingFamily friendly
Its right on the beach still close enough to state street. Downtown S.B. clean ocean great beach for a cook- out! Public restrooms outside shower for after swimming calm hot days great for swimming. Windy days windsurfing family friendly!!
Led better beach is really nice, you can have a party and grill meat cook food, listen to the sounds of the ocean and feel the nice outdoors
One of the best views in the world when seen from the city college campus cliffs
Nice mellow spot for longboarding on the south end.
Very nice view from the shoreline walk way.
Very nice beach, got there around 1, was plenty of parking.
Its not yellow. Sad
Beautiful natural beach.
Its a nice view and sometimes the environment is durable, but if your not a seaweed fan it definitely not the place for you. Most importantly the pollution could could be reduced. Other than that I have had successful outings there:)
Great beach to learn how to surf
Nice beach below SBCC.
Its beautiful here, great parking.
The beach itself is nice. Hypodermics found in the parking lot, townies and homeless all over the place, filthy bathrooms.
I walked in the water along the shoreline. My heart, full of joy, since I had just seen my true love, Sammy.
Always great hang out spot
Far back from the water but had a nice grassy park for picnics...looking forward to visiting again this summer.
Clean beach, lots of room.
Great beach and not too crowded
Great place for children to swim!
Came home with too much tar stuck to our feet. Is that the new normal when visiting a beach now?
One of my favorite places, to go
Wonderful homecoming, love this beach...
If you want 5 or 6 guys staring at you as you rinse sand off at the showers youre in luck.
Its really beautiful and theres a netted off area for swimming. Its a flat beach, so it was quite windy so be careful of flying sand. There were also a lot of sand crabs near the shore.
Pretty nice beach.
Easily accessible sleepy beach with gentle waves. Plentiful parking if youre willing to walk a couple blocks. Near downtown Santa Barbara.
Good beach to chill. Ample paid cheap parking. Only issue is the lack of drinking water fountains and toilets. Youd have to walk a lot to go to the toilet and fountains which are situated near parking
Peaceful, accessible, not crowded, at least when we were there on a beautiful Sunday afternoon
Beautiful beach. A bit crowded, but had great views and is a great place for a walk. Very close proximity to the pier, and also Mesa viewpoint/parking lot. The parking lot is a paid lot. There is a restaurant for a quick bite and great views. Or if you bring your own food there are picnic benches.
Beautiful and quiet. Just right.
On a Monday afternoon we got takeout at Shoreline Beach cafe, to eat on the sand while watching guys kiteboarding. Food was surprisingly good for a little on-the- sand-cafe. They do have chairs in the shade if you order from the restaurant side, and there were a bunch of chairs in the sand on the south side of the place that were popular. The crowd on the beach was fairly sedate, families etc. Id go back to Leadbetter and Shoreline Cafe anytime.
Nice beach right by Santa Barbara City College (SBCC) where you can relax and see some interesting birds and even some guys scuba diving for spiny lobsters.
I love Butterfly Beach; but the action is at Leadbetter Beach. There is a wonderful little beach front restaurant there too. Lots of special events.
Very pretty and great place to BBQ, enjoy SB views, surf- if you are lucky
Fantastic as always.
It was fun and plenty of parking. For holidays you have to go really early to save a space. I paid $6.00 to park for 4 hours. Shoreline has free parking. It gets windy dress warm.
Clean, secluded very natural beach.
Very nice place
Very peaceful and relaxing
Great view
Decent place. Plenty of picnic tables around. Nice sandy beach. Bunch of seagulls and bird poop on the tables, but I suppose you cant escape that. Sadly, no dogs on the beach itself. Overall, smaller beach than I had imagined.
Great beach to jog and meditate.n
Was overcast in the beginning but burned off and it was beautiful
Awesome place. You have to have a picnic here
Super chill beach
Awesome beach, sea lions, you can even see fish when you step into the water
Being raised in SB, I am a frequent visitor to Ledbetter. Nice restaurant there too. Plenty of parking as well. Many picnic tables are there too as well as a group area to rent.
