The best beach ever, hands down. I say this because we can have our dogs with us. Its quite a drive but thats great every once in a while for the puppers. Even the crowds and ambience is entirely different than being at any other beach. Everyone is so laid back. This beach is entirely for beginner swimmers so you have to be careful because there are hidden boulders and rocks close to the shore. Love it and will be back!
I wish the experience lived up to its potential, but... Oil. Tar. Not a ton, but enough to ruin the place for us. The smell hits you from the edge of the parking lot as you first see the sand and gets nearly overwhelming, at least this particular Friday afternoon, an hour before low tide, as you walk southward. There are offshore derricks, ships transiting along the coast, and one or the other can be blamed for the diesel-like reek you might face. Sad.Small tar deposits on your feet after ten minutes walking on the hard packed sand? No bueno. We cut our visit short, which was a huge disappointment.I think the beach would be really narrow at any time other than proximate to a low tide, but maybe that might cut the smell or exposure to tar deposits?
The quaint, magestic, intimate coastline coupled with the perfect restaurant that Ariel our server provided Beyond expression.... Everything was perfect.I have traveled off and on for years and I also cook and everybody says Im Sally from When Harry Met Sally or whatever that movie is. I like what I like and I know what excellence and Perfection includes; The combination of flavor, environment and service does not get any better. I would recommend that you request Ariel, always.. charming, wonderful pleasant, attentive and responsive. Additionally the continuity throughout the restaurant was consistent and perfect; from the hostess, the bartenders, and the kind manager had pleasure of her acquaintance. I do not write bios but on this restaurant Im taking the time to do so
A very spectacular spot for to catch the sun setting into the pacific. Obviously will be a busy place considering the coast line is relatively short on the beach. Theres a restaurant right next to the beach, where they offer patio seating and this sunset view. Be sure to check for reservation or show up earlier.
Every city needs a DOG BEACH for its four legged friends .This location seemed a little small and restrictive compared to SanDiegos OCEAN BEACH location. A far distance traveled with so small a parking lot, shared by a restaurant, made the journey a small disappointment, but maybe in the future another location might make it to the ballot box! Good Luck LOCAL DOG LOVERS !️
An absolutely fantastic beach that is well stocked for beach goers looking to get some exercise. With plenty of parking nearby when I came on Saturday, July 4, it was easy with bathrooms and water fountains within the parking lot and beach access within a hundred feet. Stunning California coastline made it enjoyable for out of state visitors and locals alike. They had the beach shut down for any stationary activities on the beach but allowed exercise outside and inside the water. Walked up and down the coastline undisturbed.
Arroyo Burro Beach was a real find! Very lovely and clean. It is reminiscent of San Clemente, with the cliffs by the ocean. There is a nice looking restaurant there called “The Boat House”. It smelled delicious Can’t wait to go back and try it!
I couldnt believe how much space there was to let the dogs play off leash! The beach itself was pretty clean, and all the dogs were having a great time. The longer you walk along the shore, the more picturesque it gets. Highly recommend bringing your dog here!
Really nice beach, and I love dogs. So if you are a dog lover as well this is the beach for your best friend to make new friends . Everyone had their pups out here enjoying the sun, the water they even have a little place to shower your dog after they come out of the beach . (The dogs are not very happy about that tho LOl I heard some complaining while showering ) hilarious! But overall a really cool beach. And might I add the sunset to die for!.
Arroyo Burro is one of my favorite beach of the area. I really love going with my famille, friends and dogs. There is a plenty of space when its the low tide. You have in the left of the beach for dog free of leash and at right you need the leash. (See pictures I added)The view is wonderful.Practicing surf and observing the dolphins are a good things to do here. You can find free and accessible picnic tables, restroom, a seasonal lifeguard and a restaurant (expensive but with a beautiful view)Concerning the parking : open from 7am to the sunset (so no overnight parking) and NO bus, RV or truck + trailer accepted. It can be full of people because its a popular beach. But once you get parked, you can have a long walk on the beach easily. Its a long beach.
Gets crowded on the weekends. Most folks are very responsible with their dogs but if you have yours just stay alert as with any off leash scenario. The off leash side can be tricky to access at high tides, but there is always beach on the on-leash side. Parking gates are closed until 8am. If you’re lucky, might see a pod of dolphins!
I have been coming to Arroyo Burro Beach County Park since before I could walk. It has always been a fun Summer destination for my family and me. I love hiking and walking around lakes. Unfortunately with most East Bay lakes, the walk around is more than a couple miles, more than just a quick walk.
When you walk towards the water, the area on the very left side are meant for off-leash dogs. The area to the right have signs that state dogs must be on a leash. They should make signs that clearly state that..The strip of sand is short, so its only a few steps to the water. The waves here are very tame, perfect for wading in the water. However, the water here isn’t clear and there is a lot of seaweed right now (August). This beach is heavily trafficked, but the parking lot is free.
Great beach and was so GREAT to let my dog off leash to interact with other dogs!! Beautiful long walk on the beach! Loved it!!!
Nice beach with much cleaner water than in Santa Barbara and you can surf some waves. You see dolphins quite frequently. Lots ( too many) of dogs ( they have unleash zone) but apart that great beach and with a great restaurant on the beachfront. Parking can be very busy especially the weekends so try to go early.
This dog friendly beach is so great! This is the only beach that allows off leash. Its clean (everyone picks up Poop). All breeds are hanging out.Down side is that there is lots of tar. This stuff ruins bathing suits and good luck getting it out of dog fur. We had to buy rubbing alcohol to remove it from the bottom of our feet and knees. It never came off of clothing. Super bummed about that.
Great location. Nice wave action and a great restaurant is on the beach and you can eat takeout and drinks. Also leash and unleashed dog sections.
Great beach. Lots of room to spread out. Only reason not 5 stars is because parking is insane.
Loved this spot, feels almost secluded once you find parking. The restaurant has excelent crab mac n cheese good beer on tap. Dog friendly!
Great for people with dogs. Off leash on the beach. Its pretty clean and there is a self serve dog wash you can use before you load up the car to go home.
It is a great place and awesome alternative to the dog park. It has both on and off leash places that make it safe. It is clean and people dont hesitate to pick up after them selves.
No leash no problem. This beach loves all kinds of dogs hard to get parking sometimes but beautiful spot for walking.
Very cool dog beach. Not from the area and this is where we picked up our new adopted dog. Would definitely visit again if in the area with our pups
I lost my remaining faith in humanity in this abysmal parking lot. It is impossible for parked cars to leave with the backed up line of cars waiting to park. Me and the car in front of me finally found2 people packing out, but another car had just pulled out of their spot behind me and was stuck for a few minutes. I pulled way over to let them out, and then the person behind me started forward and I told her I was waiting for that person to leave. “ oh cool, no problem.” She said. 5 minutes later she pulls ahead and takes the spot before the car in front of me can move forward. This kind of thing happens 3 times before we find a spot, almost an hour later. The tide comes in another hour later. It was pretty but I will not be back.
Beach for dogs?? Really ??? Just a small section for dog with no leash..?? Just beacuse the restaurant is there... i dont think so.. no worth the trip!
Its a beach. Dogs are allowed. Theres a beachfront restaurant thats really good and has a full bar. What more can you ask for? Five stars.
Dogs allowed to run free. Our fur baby loved it.
Wonderful beach that feels out of town even though it is so close to Santa Barbara. Very dog friendly.
Parking can be a challenge and sometimes places you MANY steps from the sand but its very much worth it ESPECIALLY if youve brought your dog(s) along. The beach is smooth and sandy, not too kelpy when we were there and the water and waves are easy to enter. Highly recommended for the peeps and DEFINITELY for the canines!
Amazing especially cuz they have an amazing dog washing station for $10. They take card so its cool
Great place to bring your dog! Our Copper girl loved it! The water felt nice too!
It was nice, but too much seaweed. Not necessarily to drive from LA
Parking is free, and while there are many spaces, youll often need to wait for a space to open up.Bathrooms are decently maintained.Long level beach with very gradual slope
Loved this very Dog friendly beach and my last name is the name of the first word of the beach name lol.
Gorgeous dog friendly beach with a lovely restaurant that includes outdoor seating. This place is popular so come early to get a parking spot.
This is my go to dog friendly beach in Santa Barbara . Parking can be a bit of a challenge on the weekend. The Boat House restaurant serves some of the best spirits in town.
Excellent beach for dog lovers! Off leash friendly to one side! See signage at location. Aim for low tide: the water can come up to cliff base during high. Decent surf when waves are up, rock reef bottom. Excellent for running (low tide again). Note that there can be decent amounts of tar here: bring wipes with you! Also the Boathouse restaurant is here!
It was a beautiful afternoon. I took a long walk then relaxed on the beach. It was awesome. There is free parking but come early if you dont want to wait.
Really nice public beach. Restaurant on-site. Parking in 2 connected lots with directional guard-spikes (so follow the arrows), but can get busy. Off-leash dog beach 100 yards to the east of the lifeguard station next to the parking lot beach access. 3 pay ($10 with cc) dog-wash stations between the parking lots.
Fantastic beach, I dont have a dog but you cant stop hearing about how dog-friendly this beach is. Stretches on for a while so if you cant find a place to lay your towel just walk further down the beach, making this also an awesome place to run.It does get super windy due to its location so plan out the weather before going. I have seen too many umbrellas make like the Falcon 9 Rocket and have lift off into who knows where with beach goers futilely chasing after it.All in all a fantastic beach. Recommend you park in the neighborhood if there is no parking left.
Great family park and filled with pups! Accessible bathrooms and lots of parking. Fun places to rest at, as the rock formations here are so pretty!
The beach was closed because of covid-19, but we were able to take our dogs and let them off the leash.
Great place for families and pets. Public bathrooms and three self-serve dog washing areas. You can eat there as well, however parking is scarce because of the popularity.
I love coming here with my dogs. Off leash, everyone is super friendly and it’s very clean.
It is very pretty, but seems to be very polluted with petroleum. A short walk on the beach turned my feet black with stains (August 2020)
Lots of fun to be had with your water loving dog. Digging, waves, other dogs..... They have doggie bath facilities too $10 for 10 minutes.
Its a peaceful place to walk your dog or admire the scenery. It can get a little crowded at times.
Great place to take your dog and tire them out. We spent a few hours there and the dogs were all pretty friendly. Arrive early to get parking since the parking lot gets full.
Amazing pristine beach.Dog friendly, even has a dog wash in the parking lot!
Soooo beautiful and they allow dogs!
Great Beach location in Santa Barbara, california for a beach stroll. If the parking lot is full. Try the neighborhood near by.
They do not open at 7 as listed, its 8, and if youre not local youre not welcome by employees, the locals are very nice though. Be warned! Nobody mentioned the horrible black sticky stuff! Wear shoes! Its like tar.
Great place to bring your pup for a stroll on the beach! We will be back soon.
Gorgeous long Beach with many places to swim. Parking limited. One restaurant with outdoor seating.
We took the dog off leash she played with the other fun dogs. Almost everyone was wearing a mask. The restrooms are open as is the self was dog grooming station. Parking was tight at about 11 am.
What a wonderful beach! And it’s not even that busy there compared to many other beaches nearby. It’s a perfect spot for pictures or video and you can even walk your dog there on and off leash!
Nice beach. Too many dogs
I ended going when it just began to rain so we were at the beach for about ten minutes. But on a sunny day Im sure it would be amazing. Plus its a dog friendly beach. I definitely want to go again.
Beautiful Hidden beach on outskirts of Santa Barbara. Small waves, part of beach is dog beach(off leash), lot of room on weekdays, parking is tight, weekends need to come before 9am.
Best beach! Much better than Butterfly or Goleta beaches. Bathrooms, drinking fountain, foot wash, restaurant, free parking. Clean sand, interesting geology.
This is a beautiful beach. Parking is hard to find on weekends. I havent tried during the week.
We have a psycho dog and we still had a nice time. So got to bite the waves and we got some guilt free beach time.
Easy access to beach but parking is tough. Like to be able to run dig there.
Wonderful place to see sunset!
Beautiful beach! There is a Waterfront volleyball court across from a restaurant and coffee shop. Tucked behind the restaraunt, there exists a passage to a lookout view, and behind that there is a trail leading to.... The only complaint I have about this beach is that there is an infestation of flies feasting upon the beached seaweed.
Awesome beach. Great food with indoor/outdoor dining. Sunday brunch is always terrific. Dog friendly off leash beach. Just a great vibe good staff, great beach, Ive always felt welcome there. Cool rock and cliff formations...my fav
This is the beach of my childhood. Off the beaten path, off leash dog area, great boogie boarding, occasionally good beginner surfing, tide pools (to the right), nude beach (to the left past the point) life guard (sometimes), fancy restaurant, cheap takeout window, showers, picnic tables, etc. The parking lot can get totally full. The locals know it as Hendrys or The Pit (for the shape of the sea floor, not the condition) and it tends to be more locals than tourists.
We love this Beach and so do our puppies! You have to get there early to get good parking
Amazing beach where you can take your dog unleash. Was super great to share that time with my dog
Beautiful family beach. Great restaurant. Terrible parking.
Good place to watch the sunset, difficult to park.
Had a wonderful afternoon with lunch and a walkt.on the beach. Great place to bring friends and family and hang out on the beach!
Miles of beach, we took our dog with leash and walked one hour in a direction and there were still more beach to go. Bring sunscreen even for the walk as the breeze is so nice, you may be burning and not know it -- we did not burn but we got a nice tan.
Great spot, dog friendly beach. There’s an amazing brunch place which has a cute dog shed for your pets, Hendry’s boathouse, on the beach. It gets packed so get there early and put your name down. Take nice stroll on the beach while you wait. There’s also a tiny vista point behind the restaurant (pic from there).
A nice beach to bring your dogs. It offers an on-leash and off-leash side of the beach that give you the choice to walk with your dog or let them run around. Due to how large and long the beach was, the beach wasnt really crowded. However in certain sections, you ran into a decent amount of people.
This place is amazing. They have an area with tables and grill. Clean restrooms and lifeguards on duty. People are nice and dog friendly place.
Lots of dogs. A great place for a nice walk!
Great place for dogs to be off lesh at the beach.
Great place to take the dogs and let them play off leash
It wad nice to sit on the beach again just parking wad bad i would get there early. Great dog park.
Pricing but worth it.The sea food was fresh and their drinks were well crafted.I cant complain because I had a good experience. The view was the best, being next to the ocean while the beautiful California sun was setting is a delightful experience.
Best beach to bring your furry friend
Super dog and human friendly
Beautiful beach with a restaurant in super close proximity, public restrooms. Get there early for parking!
Great place to access the beach. Parking is plentiful in the parking lot and surrounding neighborhood. Dogs are allowed to run off leash on half of the beach. Weather is almost always pleasant. Nice restaurant there too.
Nice sand, clean, polite canines.
Beautiful beach. Dogs are allowed. Public facilities and adequate parking. Also has a restaurant.
Such a fun, spacious, clean park!! There’s a water fountain by the entrance and an off leash area, perfect for bringing a dog. The beach itself was beautiful and the views surrounding didn’t disappoint either. Very refreshing and awesome!
Its a really nice beach to walk your dog
Watch out for the rocks. Its a great place for dogs.
Great local beach with a fantastic restaurant and snack bar. I have to go here every time Im in town.
We LOVE this beach. It is incredibly unique here with the mountains up against the coast. This place is a favorite of ours. Rain or shine.
