Been a while since Ive been out here, and I have to say Ive never seen the ocean so alive. It was amazing how many fish were in the water and birds in the sky. The pier itself is somewhat of a ghost town with the majority of businesses closing, but current construction and renovations to the pier could bring forth new life to those buildings. If you havent been recently Id highly recommend it.
We really like this place. Classic old school pier with active commercial fishing and a few restaurants. The best part may be the view of abundant sea sea life - bait balls smothered with diving birds and predatory fish, capped off with whales breaching in the middle of kayakers watching the whole thing unfold. Nice.
This is such a cute town it is a great tourist place theres plenty of shopping The restaurants are cute The atmosphere is great and going out on the pure you can drive your car out to the end of the pier and there are little things to look at people are fishing theres a restaurant out there its very very cute town
Such a beautiful view of the ocean and surrounding mountains! Always fun to watch the seals fighting over a place to sun themselves on the dock. Went there to fish off the pier and just enjoy the day. (No fishing license required to fish from the pier)
The scenario here is picturesque. The sea lions are feet away, dolphins sometimes pop their heads up and the environment is calm and friendly.
There was parking and a beautiful view. You can hear the sea lions and see the fish in the water at night.
It was a fun experience if you like to get in a light hike
Nice place to walk day time night is too dark need more lights
Ive been here fishing a few times and thus olace us amazing everyone is kind the service us INCREDIBLE food AMAZING thus place is one of a kind i would DEFINITELY recommend
The most beautiful thing you can experience, hidden gem in San Luis Obispo.
Its beautiful, serene, kept clean, everyones in a pleasant friendly mood; the wildlife, ocean creatures, the 360* views are photo ops any time of year. Its historic, its fresh sea air and its a landmark everyone can enjoy. You cant leave here in a bad mood!
We like this port. We stopped in for a vote to eat. It is the only place open . The restaurants in the port are closed due to the Pandemic. We got the croissants. They were very dry. I got the egg and cheese. I couldnt find any egg and the cheese was like card board. It was early in the morning and Im sure the employee was busy but if she knew they werent fresh, she should have said something . As I was i paying for them the lady who make a them came with a fresh batch. If I had known that I wouldve paid for a fresh new croissant. My $3.50 croissant was thrown away. They had a coffee machine where you could get lattes, cuppinos etc. The cuppino was good. I Did enjoy that. I know there is a pandemic but now Im leary of buying items if they arent good. You have to wear a mask in there and keep your distance. It is a small market. They also had souvenirs. I dont like making this report but I didnt like my croissant. It is a nice to place for coffee but Im not sure if I eat there again. It was very disappointing since were traveling .
Fishing with my son and grandson was a blessing. I love Port San Luis.A place of tranquility.
You can drive your car to end of pier and park it. Fishing off pier was super fine....primo
Love to come here with the family to see the seals
I was traveling in the area and wanted the visit the coast since it had been some years. The views are great and I discovered this was a great place to spend little time to soak in the sights. Although the shops happened to be closed when I arrived, I stayed long enough for a beautiful sunset.
Easy access, beautiful cove like area for camping or day trips. Full RV hook ups. Nice fish cleaning area. Birds cant get to you while cleaning fish, bonus!
Kids and us come here fairly often. Goody but oldy place to fish and eat. Quite enjoyed the vendor outside on weekends with a small shop of cool things to buy.
Love fishing there with the Patriot and her crew.
My old stomping grounds as a kid.
The fish market and restaurant are not there. Nothing to see except the sea
A really neat place to visit. We walked along the pier and watched the sea lions. There are 3 restaurants, although we didnt visit any of them. The drive to the pier is very scenic and the views from the pier are delightful. They have camping and a rather large beach.
Its a nice place to visit for the oceanic views and come back of the sea otters
Cute little town with a neuritis pier and beach
I love this pier! I enjoy the walk out. Watching the seals. Looking out over the ocean. I was a little disappointed that the vender who use to sell items related to the beach was not there any more. I always have purchased items when I am there it made me sad.
It looks really nice fresh fish market at the end of the pier
For those of you that arent familiar with piers. Its a wooden bridge like structure that extends out over the water. This pier extends out into the Pacific Ocean in a really nice location with the best weather on the central coast. You can even drive your car out on this pier. The first thing youre going to come to is a coin-operated skiff hoist for boots that are thousand pounds and under. Next is a fishing charter named Patriot. Then towards the end of the pier youll come to a restaurant called Mercys its pretty good prices arent too bad. Next is a fish market and then at the end is a a little more pricey formal restaurant called Old Port Inn.
Beautiful place.
I loved it
Always love this place.
Amazing views! Very informed docents. A fun bus ride to the top. Let you have hands on experience.
Get there early for the best scenic view & parking. California has the best ocean view to offer & Port San Luis Pier is one of them! Enjoy a nice stroll or bike ride to view more iconic areas.
Beautiful weather this time of year. Had a great time with my daughter
Nice pier but fishing wasnt good.
Went here with the family on a recommendation from friends. We even got to see some seals. Great and beautiful place. Nice pier
Awesome. Love the food at the restaurants, love the fishing at Patriot Sportfishing, great town and they have a dog beach nearby!
Delicious food. Great service. Nice atmosphere.
Nice views, beautiful scenery. Far better than the others. Way less crowded. Wait, no. Its a terrible place stay away!
Fun place to.visit, particularly, if you can talk to seals
Usually pretty open and the fire pits are awesome. Watch out, no booze or glass allowed
Great walk, live seal families on their own wooden barge, fishing & supplies, very good eats &coffee & cocktails, freshest sea food to purchase, gifts, under pier raft, row, boats docking, excursions too! Very active bay, freeport for vessels, the crisp scent of ocean breezes local & visitor friendly safe place to visit, historic site too, with a view of Avila Beach & Bay
Great place, fishing is always fun even though I rarely catch anything.
Great views from the pier. Good steamed clams and Manhattan clam chowder at Merseas on the pier.
