It is a small playground. It is not very clean. It is not very popular - we met one a few children there. However it might be Ok if have no other place to go with your children. At least your children can spend some time there. It is better than nothing.

Really nice playground and great views. Walking distance to the museums. Only issue was there were a fair amount of homeless people living right in the playground, very close to where kids were playing. Not bad during the day but definitely would not come here when it’s getting darker at night.

Play structures are diverse and allow movement for different gross motor skills. Have play area for toddlers as well as elementary. Sand is nice instead of wood chips. Has a lot of grass area. Picnic tables. Bathrooms and right next to Balboa park!!

Great park but the homelessness is a huge problem. The park was surrounded with dozens of homeless people engaged in very activities that were scary for the kids. luckily they werent too close to the park and the kids could enjoy playing by getting from our car to the park was a little intimidating for them.

Had great time with the grandson! Brought own bbq, playground for kids... Nice place!

What is not to like about this park, the fact that is in Balboa park makes it very appealing. I live in east county and I still drive up here just because of the beauty of this place. My Kids have a great time and it also brings me childhood memories.

Fun playground in the heart of Balboa Park. Also a good place for plane watching.

Fun place. But ground stuff is wooden things,, not safe for little kids.

Wow, they are professional, you have to go there and try it, they are really good and they know what they do, quality is good and they are not slow, I like they business style, 5 days work and only 6 hours per day, usually Mexican restaurants working 24/7 but they will make good and enough money to don’t work so hard and long, good job guys and god bless

Spend time at the park after the museum

Simple and nice playground for kids. Can spend hours here and have a picnic with family while kids play.

Nice small park with a couple of play areas. Good spot for picnic. There are some trees that provide really dense shade and cool air. Close to bus stops. Mosey over to the prada to get some drinks and snacks.

Just a heads up to all of the parents that bring their children to this park. There is a creepy man that has been threatened in the park accused of being a baby raper. He likes to hide in the trees just to the right of the park.

Always busy, but the homeless population can be a bit unsettling sometimes. Use the bathroom before you go!

Lots of obstacles for all ages.

It is a nice location, close to all the attractions of Balboa Park. I found parking on the street right next to the park, but within 10 minutes of arriving, the entire street was packed. I went on a weekday like 10 am. There were a lot of homeless people that were yelling and in general it just made me nervous to let my 18 month old run around. There was quite a bit of trash on the ground, so I also didn’t feel comfortable with my 6 month old crawling on a blanket since he tends to get off the blanket rather quickly! Anyway, we left early because I just couldn’t relax in that environment. Some of the toys were broken too, and I was afraid my daughter would get hurt on shad edges. This is a nice park to walk through, maybe let your kids play for a few minutes, but it’s not a morning hangout.

Its a park with lots of stuff for kids and picnics. Can host large events as well but call ahead to reserve!
