We love Mission Bay! We park on the south end of the bay. The bay offers perfect swimming for young kids, as there are no waves! About 50 yards across the street is the causeway, which is so perfect for snorkeling! There are pink and purple corals and so many fish! I could spend hours there. A short walk away is the open ocean with great waves! You can access three different beach experiences from one place! It doesnt get better than that!
This park is near 3 different water conditions. Youve got the channel on one side where the bay opens to the ocean, the protected calm water of Mission Bay on the other, and beach access to the ocean is adjacent. There is a small playground and a bathroom with showers. The parking lot is pretty small, but if you can get a spot, the walk to the bay side beach with a kayak or paddle board is pretty manageable. Heading towards the beach to the ocean with that much cargo doesnt seem like a great plan as there is a much larger parking lot near there. Getting into this area is a pain as youre confined to a single boulevard with single lanes in either direction with a lot of stops. Popularity of the space could make it hard to distance from people on the weekend, though it is limited by the parking situation and locals favor the west facing beach on the ocean where the larger parking lot is. Families with small children seem to favor the east facing beach on the bay. Friday afternoon wasnt too bad.
Always such a nice place to just sit in your car and have a picnic while watching all the boats come in and out. Great place to take a walk with your family. No real waves, so safe for the little ones!!! Great place everytime I go!!!
Enjoyed evening walk after work very relaxing. Crowds are gone. Low tide its always a good day in Mission Bay!
Not crowded with shallow access for wading and SUP. Calm vistas of the boats at moorings in this placid back bay. Quiet place to read, sun and sand. Parking can be a challenge.
Always very nice i took my family after 3:00pm and there was plenty of parking you can swim or paddle board even kayak and it wasnt crowded at all. Had a good time after that we headed back to our neighborhood City Heights and ordered some good fried chicken and seafood at crispy fried chicken and seafood its delicious here. Asta!!!!
Absolutely beautiful! Very clean and family friendly! We loved it!
Beautiful place to watch the sun rise and see the boats off on their daily missions.
Good parking, lots of grassy area and beach to play on. One thing to note - the beach and park area are adjacent but only connected at one end, because of the shape of the park... Basically, the beach runs perpendicular to the park... Theres a restroom with beach showers too...
I love this park. I was tempted to give a fake low rating because one of the wonderful things about this park is there is always parking and I’ve never seen it crowded. There are times when large groups are here for paddle boarding and the like, but you can still find a parking spot and a sizable piece of grass. There are cute sailboats passing by to calm your soul and food and a market a short walk away. You have easy access to the bay, people fish (and actually catch stuff!) and the boardwalk is not far. Great spot for bike riding and while I don’t personally condone it, rollerblading. The play structure includes swings and the atmosphere is safe and friendly. One of my favorite spots!
Mission point park is a nice break from the beach, fish, seals and boats are easily seen from the jetty. Parking is quick to fill so get here early, grass park, play ground and bathrooms are maintained
I tried to go to mission Bay and find the restaurant that I went to a year ago where all the shops are and there was so many roads leading into the bay that I drove around for two and a half hours trying to find my way and I finally had to just leave it was crowded and there was no parking I guess I went on the wrong day oh well next time other than that its a beautiful place but they need more signs to direct people
This place is beautiful and just fun to spend a full day out.
Lovely park, but too crowded. Be prepared to spend time looking for a spot.
Lovely park with water and boat views, playground, bathrooms, parking. I saw seals! There are grills and charcoal recepticles. Parking is limited
This is a great park for kids. The playground area is nice, there are restrooms close by, and lots of open space for running around. Not to mention water all around you!
Perfect Little spot to tire the kids out with wonderful views. Spots everywhere to launch any watercraft. Good fishin if you have the right gear. I use gulp sandworms camo color and never go home skunked.
If you can get parking, great place to be
Alot nicer than it used to be. Love fishing, diving and spearfishing here
Favorite spot to go with the family when we go to swim. We like the more calm Waters of the bay over the ocean, better with small kids. Surprisingly there is some fun snorkeling to do along the rocks. Garabaldi, eels, octopus, Sea Hares, and sting rays just to name some of the stuff weve see out there. It is true that Parking can be very tough on the weekends in the summertime. It stress me out, so we are always there by 9, and never have not found a spot. If you are trying to find a spot at 1pm on a hot summer weekend...good luck. Its the beach in San Diego, dont know what you were expecting.
Its so nice! We were there when it was low tide so we got to discover all kinds of sea life! I loved finding the sea snails! So beautiful! We got here around 9am and it was quite and then the homeless decide its time for them to take over. Where the heck are the police? We have got to fix the homeless problem we have in SD.We met people who are really into kayaking and running and fishing. Seemed like this area was well loved by many locals!
Susan G Komen Cancer Walk
Nice spot for a picnic or to stroll. I personally was looking for a less trafficked sidewalk with less sand & rocks to roller skate on and this is my go to spot.
Kid-friendly beach cove, perfect for families.
Beautiful beaches!
Very clean good atmosphere special in the morning
Nice place for a picnic.
Nice place enjoy with the familia
I love this area of Mission Beach. I just walk around doing my exercise and sit for a bit on a bench and just enjoy the view, the fresh air and sun and people watch. Highly recommended. Parking may be a challenge on the weekends. Come early
Good spot for a skin dive for kids and beginners
This stop is great for the hole family.
Favorite place to relax.
Wonderful place for all water sports and calm relaxing
One of my favorite places in all of San Diego. The park is surrounded by water so you can see people sailing, snorkeling, fishing, and, I have even seen a dolphin swimming in the waters off the park. Its a popular place for birthday parties and picnics. I love to take photos. There is a lot to enjoy here. Good parking during the week, but, pretty crowded on the weekend. Enjoy your stay in San Diego.
Lots of rock bank to fish from, open great areas, playground and showers. Closes at night so your locked in the hat until morning but a perfect place to see Sea World Saturday fireworks or 4th of July in all directions.
Nice day at the beach with the family
When it is not CoVid19 2020, an awesome place to snorkle in the bay.
Very beautiful park!
Great place. Free Anchorage for 3 nights a week. Free overnight parking, fire pits, and bum free. Gates close at 10pm though so if youre parked here youre stuck until they open at 4am
We love this place! We go there all year long. A place for both kids and adults to have a great time! In a cove so easy to see where kids are.
Fun place. You can play volleyball and basket ball. Also go for a swim.
A very relaxing little park with a great view of the small boats coming Ang going from mission bay. Good fishing here too from bass to rays and sharks.
Great place for sites, I climbed down the rocks to the water and was hit by a rogue wave which was scary and fun at the same time, but all in all was a beautiful day, with wet legs and shoes haha, walked with my 8 year old niece and she also had a lot of fun watching the water and animals all around the harbour
Usually very busy, parking is scarce but can get lucky on weekdays and later in evening on weekends. There are no food places here but there are some bars within walking distance. Great place to watch boats, look down the channel, and great place for sand activities. Generally packed with families with Niños
Way cool place to scuba! Beautiful place. Close enough to walk and get some great Mexican food, too!
Quiet place to relax great view you can even catch the sun coming out from behind the mountain
Overall liked the place. Not crowded.Kids playground near by. Water does not have waves-perfect for kids. But Very dirty sand-we found even clear plastic teeth braces!!! Besides bottles, bottle caps and so on....looks like people visiting this beach dont care for leaving place clean after themselves...
Busy but nice
Love watching the bikinis.
Mission point park, great place to have a bbq/picnic with family & friends. Awesome scenery to take in. Has a small bay & open inlet to the ocean on the other side. Plenty of room for outdoor activities. Good spot to park, then head out on your bike to check out the surrounding areas, all kinds of nooks & crannys with sweet spots to see. Should definitely go check it out sometime.
San Diego beach area at its best!! Beautiful area, always clean and parking! Benches to sit, bathrooms near by! Its grills there also! I always enjot visiting the area! This spot is kind of secluded, you have to know its back there ! I was recently show this place by someone else! I love every part of misson beach area! This spot is hidden and secluded!
Everyone lives there in their vehicles.
Too many people and they were not wearing there masks so I decided to leave it was not worth staying there
Beautifully landscaped and maintained. Everybody picks up after their pets. Has a playground for little humans. Restrooms always in disrray, which is expected. People who spend nights in their vehicles are so nice. Boats of all kinds travel throughout the night. Listen to and watch mammals in early morning. Watch birds of all kinds day or night.
Beautiful park on Mission Bay. Only drawback is that dogs are not allowed between 9am and 4pm. Lots of grass. Nice playground for young children. Clean bathrooms.
Beautiful! Great bike ride!
Nice park.
One of the most beautiful yet tranquil places in San Diego. You can really clear your head after a stressful day of work. Great play for a romantic stroll with that special someone.
Nice panoramic view..
Great place for a relaxing walk. Dogs are allowed after 6pm.
Family fun in the sun
Yes another good family spot San Diego Beach area. Parking Limited, restrooms yes. Play area for children, with Green Landscape areas for barbecuing and chilling out.
Relaxing nice spot
My husband and I ride from Clairemont to here n back. Beautiful ride 18.3 miles to & from Hospitality point.
Very relaxing place .
Picnic tables in the shade make this a great place to come to during the day
Taking a morning walk early. Not me, usually:) But add in my sweetie, and a beachfront walk, and life just got a bit better :)
Great for cycling!!
Nice little park
Nice relax view
Relaxing Sunday afternoon lots of visitors and good views.
I was actually across the channel at Dog Beach which gets 5 stars. Not much here
Family Fun!! A MUST VISIT
Its a nice decent spot but there is no water access there is water access to the little Bay adjoining to it but wouldnt recommend getting in that water unless you need to flush out your system that water will give you diarrhea in a heartbeat not to mention sores and red spots up and down your arms highly dont recommend smoking Near That Water either knows if it will go up or not but it sure has a stench most days
The park is, well a park. Its not the issue. The issue is its about a mile or more from the main area Mission Beach and the Belmont Amusement oark where i was visiting. This is the ONLY plave i could find parking after almost 2 hoyrs looking for a spot. Yesterday was almost 3 hours to find a single parking spot. Needless to say they need parking garages here. In Vegas Im parked anywhere in 5 min or less. Even the popular busy areas
My Favorite Beach to go in San Diego California
Tourists leave the place a pigsty
The only reason Im not giving it a 5 star rating is that its summer and the parking is ridiculous! Plan ahead. Get there early or youll be looking for parking for quite a while.
Wonderful evening walk along the bay w/ hottie in short dress!
Reat gor families
Very nice place.Clean and lots of grass. Unfortunately there is no Dog rules during the day
Great snorkeling and diving spot to spot the two spot octopus
Great for kids, calm water, play structure, restroom (with soap!!) And some shady areas in the grassy park area
Great park for having fun!
Quiet beach area with fewer distractions. Apartments across the street with a nice place to walk and bike.
Great day hanging out Bayside with the family, watching the little ones frolic in and out of the water, the paddle boarders, kayakers, outriggers,... Not to mention the various boats that came in and went out.Weather was great and water was warm. Wasnt too crowded.Parking was tight, but not impossible find.Everyone seemed to have a good San Diego Mission Point Bayside day!
Beautiful park in mission bay with restrooms and bbq pits. Relaxing and family friendly too. Boats sail by, wind blows easy and views are inspiring.
