The carpet and the chairs need an upgrade. It does not look clean. However its a great idea that they have only certain seats available and following safe distance because of covid-19. It seems they are ready to re-open the theater Im not sure why its still close.

Free admission for military and family. Snack bar is reasonably priced. Theater is GIANT. Plenty of seating!

I enjoy several great movies here! It is a bit run down and the seats are a bit warn but thats what makes this theater great. It has a very old feel, just becareful what you touch/step on in the dark!

I REALLY wish people knew how to flush toilets and help take care of other peoples stuff. The theatre staff are NOT your maids!!! Otherwise, movies played on time, service is as expected, temperature inside was great.

We love this theatre. Its free and the snacks are not expensive at all. Its older and outdated and Im fine with that. No need for updates!

Ive been here many times. I went to the movies in town and with 5 kids spend a good portion of my whole pay check before finding this place. Now I can actually afford to take my family to see a movie and not spend the bill money.

Free movies for anyone in the military or government officials/military brats, best popcorn ever like way better than other commercial theaters, thats just my opinion. Because there not as drenched in butter like other theaters outside the base, which is good and they have the right amount of salt which is why I love them. Very peaceful in here no loud obnoxious high schoolers here.

I go here, free, active duty. Snacks are reasonably priced. Recommend you get there 30-45 min early especially for kids movies.

Free movies that were new to regular theaters only three weeks prior. Cant beat that if you have access. Watch out for the ewoks they bring the whole dang village like every night.

Movies are free, ID required to get on base. Always a good crowd, recommend showing up a few minutes early. Makes it much easier to find a seat and get some popcorn.

Agree with most of the reviews. Sometimes they show R-rated movies back to back. On Saturdays the movies start early with kid-friendly movies, but then show R-rated movies. I wouldnt mind more films from a few years ago to get more family friendly entertainment. But free movies and inexpensive concessions make it a great value. For popular flicks the concession lines can get pretty long. The counter is small with only two cashier stations for taking orders. The crew works hard to move the line, tho, and move the line smoothly. They have combos that are very good deals. The hotdogs have good quality and wieners.

Nice, Large air conditioned theater that shows fairly recent movies for free to military, DoD and their friends and family. Concession counter has everything you could want and they just added beer and wine to their available offers

We are retired military so we visit the base quite often. We shop at the Commissary and Exchange often but today we went to the theater. It sits very close to the waterfront so you can see the ships docked. The theater is not your big 20 screen theater in fact it only has one screen which shows movies back to back. Not plush but the seats were comfortable. Not bad for free!

Good movies, big screen, decent sound, plenty of seating and good movie selection. Whats not to like? Not stadium seating, but doesnt seem to be a problem and the price is right! Concession stand marginal.

It was my familys first time here and we loved it. We like how spacious the theater was and that the bathrooms were at the front of the theaters. It is very family friendly and the prices really arent that bad. Plus, the movie theater is free to watch. You do have to pay for popcorn and drinks and what not, but still it isnt bad especially with a family of six.

Love both Naval Base as well as North Island movie theaters. We often get premiers to movies that are not out in town yet. I think they do a good job for military families offering a place where we can go see movies. Especially since going out in town for a family these days can easily reach over $50.

Saw Hunter-Killer. Great movie. Not what I expected but much better. Love Gerald Butler. So happy I was invited. The popcorn was so yimmy and the screen is so big that everyone can see the picture.

Active, veterans and their family only. Currently this theater is free, concession are pay. The size of the food is normal and prices are reasonable. Seats are good plus with the stadium style back rides your not fighting to look through someone elses melon to view the movies. Plus side for all base theaters is they do sneak peeks at new movies. Yes cant complain on something free, out of all the base theaters this one has the best seating in my opinion.

This place is my famille tradition we recognize all the workers and at the waterfront restraint they recognize us ! I highly recommend there be mini pizzas so good and I surprised how quality tasting it was. They run out fast though so be quick! :)

Absolutely the worst management I could ever imagine possible. The manager has twice now caused an issue, one that ended up with police presence and unjustly being prevented from seeing a movie. Manager feels he is some sort of authoritarian dictator of any and all things going on in the movie theater. I have no problem if it was safety, comfort, or courtesy. Navy seriously needs to consider some sort of training this monkey on what customer service is and how to act talk and behave around a customer. Avoid at all cost, other management at the location super friendly super helpful no issues at all.

I didnt get to go in I am not in any way serving in the military or have I served in the military. I appreciate those who do and I got to drive past the base on accident cuz we got lost. Thats okay though it was really neat to see an aircraft carrier was dry ginormous

I love watching movies here. They are current movies and a good variety. I would like to see more children movies on the weekend.The prices for food is reasonable and the popcorn is fresh!

Small theatre, but has a tendency to get pre screenings of big movies. You absolutely cannot beat the price...free. They have recently started serving beers at the snack bar along with pizza and hotdogs. Snacks are much less expensive then a civilian movie theater, but I have never had a problem bringing in my own stuff.

Has gotten really dirty and many of the seats are broken. Needs a good cleaning and some repair.

Theres no seating in the middle of the place, lol. I think that wouldve been a key element in the design of a theater. But hey, you cant beat the prices.... Its FREE. Brought my wife and three kids and paid $18 basically for a ton of snacks and drinks. Thats usually what we pay for one ticket at a theater out in town. But yeah... That whole no center seating is disturbing.

Considering the movie is free, it holds a lot of people. Concession stand is half the cost of a normal theater. You have to wait a few weeks for new titles, but its great. Plus they have early viewing of new movies.

Recommend you go back to the two page, back to back movie schedule and synopsis, you use to have available on-line, and still have as a hand-out at each of the San Diego base theatres. It was an excellent single sheet of paper, when printed, for Navy San Diego locations, good for the entire two week period.This option is still available on-line at the USMC Mira Mar Base web site.

Huge theater, great opportunity to get the best seat in the house for viewing. Movies are free. Snacks are available for purchase before entering the movie. Has restrooms. If you sit too far back, youll hear a weird echo. Its just that big.

I love coming here the movie is free and all the food is so reasonable and Ill support MWR anyday over the price inflated movie theaters around!The only thing I dont like is that no one cleans up after themselves. Why? I dont get it?

Good place, but concession stand prices have gone up. Large drink, nachos, and large pop corn are going to run you about 12 bucks.

Cant beat watching a movie that still being shown and major theaters for free. Yes I said for free. Concession food and drinks are very reasonably priced. A number 1 combo will give you a large popcorn and a large drink for under $10. Thats cheaper then buying one ticket at every other theater. The sound quality and the video quality is pretty good. They show 3D movies occasionally and they would only charge you $1 for the glasses or you can bring your own. And for you people that like bringing their own snacks no worries no baggage check of any sorts.

The movies are current, free, and the concessions are fairly priced. There is only one massive theater room that could use a hefty update. The seats have seen better days and the restrooms are at the front of the theater.

Its never a dull day driving by the Navy Base near Camp Pendleton, San Diego CA. Between the water craft, air craft, artillery practice and officers we see quite a bit of our military forces hard at work.

This theater is HUGE. The seats are comfortable. The price of admission is more than reasonable, free. The concessions are reasonably priced and the movies are current.
