We discovered this theater while on vacation from California. The venue is small and a little run down, but they make you feel welcome and the plays are hilarious. We actually planned a second trip to Salt Lake City just to see another play. And Im sure well go back again!

I was so looking forward to the performance here--a parody of Its a Wonderful Life--and it was extremely disappointing. The venue itself in SLC is old and rundown, so the seats almost lay back to the floor when you sit down and it isnt very clean. The performance itself was long and was hardly ever funny. There were few members of the cast that were actually enjoyable to watch--the rest were either trying too hard or not enough. I would not go back.

This place was a ton o fun. We saw HMS Pinafore with a whole bunch of us dressed as pirates. The cast was hilarious, with good acting, and great audience engagement. Even when things went wrong, it was always perfectly (and funnily) rescued.

I absolutely LOVE Off Broadway Theater! I’m never disappointed and I always love bringing new friends to experience The awesome atmosphere and shows that they provide. It’s never a forgettable show and I can’t wait for the new location wherever that may be! They will always have our support!

We saw Dracula vs Addams family. It was fun and family friendly. The only thing I would have to critique is the should dared in and out so it was harder to hear at some points! But really great community theater and great for the kids!

We love this theater and their spoofs. We are always laughing hard at the jokes. Theyre family friendly, but make sure to poke at the local community and its always good for the soul to laugh at yourself. We both enjoy ourselves, despite our usually differing tastes in entertainment. Thats the real cherry on top.

The shows here are awesome for the most part. They are not your traditional stage show, which makes it better. Its a lot of improvisation. Most of their shows are spoofs of originals written by the owner and writing staff. Overall, its a fantastic place to visit and watch a hilarious show!

Oh my goodness! I have had a bucket list of things I wanted to do with my kiddos before they decided I was no longer cool. Going to a play was on that list. Off Broadway is a hilarious remedy to that bucket list! The actors are amazing and personable. They perform with heart and soul and off the cuff. I love the interactive portions of the play and the enthusiasm that each performance has. I am giving a 5 star rating based solely on the performers. I really do love all the different variations they have on classic plays. They are a class act that every family should be privileged to see. When I cant take my family to one of their plays, I truly feel that I have missed out on something great!Parking to the establishment is close and they offer concessions, which my kids love and enjoy during the performance. I really wish a sponsor would take a good look at how amazing this group of actors are and update the theater for them. Theyre a classic act that deserves a great work establishment.

We always have a great time here. the company here cares about their work and it always shows. The theater is old, but that only adds to theawesomeness of the experience. Go for it!!!

Absolutely loved this place the atmosphere is amazing for a small play house. The play we seen, the Addams family vs Dracula was an amazing play!! Cant wait to go back and see another play!

We saw the Adams Family vs. Dracula. Very funny stuff! The staff and owners are fantastic. Wouldve given it 5 stars if it wasnt for the chairs that lounge although Im not sure theyre supposed to. Hard for us chair and gravity intolerants

It was laugh outloud all night! Its a Wondrous Life delivered; laugh after laugh, pun after pun, pratfall after pratfall. But the message of the original was also maintained and delivered. Eric Jensen and company delivered again, as they always do. Want some holiday fun? Go see the show! Its not only fun, its affordable! I cant say for sure, because I dont handle Santas endorsements, but I believe he approves. Have fun, at OBT!

The play was amazing! The actors well casted and produced!! I loved Hamlet and I would see it again!!! The composition and balance was fantastic! I can only recommend this wonderful theatre!

Ive been coming here ever since I was a kid to see their plays. It used to be a tradition around Christmas to go as a family and see what they had that year. I recently got the chance to take my husband and he loved it! Theyre pretty inexpensive and make for a great date night or family outing. Theres comedy in the shows for every age group and audience participation is highly encouraged. I look forward to keeping this tradition for years to come.

Little Shop of Horrors was fun, as it usually is. You can tell that a lot of time and effort went into this performance. Having live music was an extra special touch. The sets and props were especially impressive and creative. You definitely get the tight knit community theater vibes here, lots of friends and family members in the audience, the MC getting the group to participate in singing Happy birthday to patrons celebrating a birthday, taking multiple humorous jabs at friends in the audience for cheap laughs before the show. My only real complaints are 1, the popcorn; it was terrible. Old, dry, and slightly burnt. Nothing like what youd expect. Perhaps I got a bad batch, so you be the judge, but Irondale I would not get it again. 2) we sat in the back, cause thats where we like to sit, and it was a huge mistake. We were close to the audio booth which is not enclosed. This, in and if itself is not a problem, but when you have a sound booth operator that talks frequently during the show, has a 2-way radio making noises regularly, and who laughs quite loudly and for an unusually extended period for each joke, right behind your head the whole show, its pretty annoying.

Love this place. To bad They got kicked out of their building. I will follow them where ever they arw

We have season tickets to the OBT. Its always fun but Dracula vs. The Adamms Family was particularly funny with lots of audience interaction. Totally worth checking out.

We love coming to plays at the OBT and have seen several there. We saw Hamletson and laughed all the way through it. I would totally give five stars but there are a few maintenance issues that could be addressed. That being said I would totally go again. Five stars for the performance and the staff!!!

Saw hamleton and it is SO FUNNY and the actors are super talented!! Way to go writers too, so creative. Will definitely be coming back!!

Honestly SO fun! Its been a family tradition to go to their Christmas Show every year and its always a blast. Fun and family friendly. Laughing Stock is a hoot too. They have shows all year round and Ive never been disappointed. Their shows are usually parodies of something else but occasionally they put on well known plays or musicals. Matinee shows are a good price but sometimes they have Groupons or other deals.

Way fun. Facilities are dated but add to the charm. Parking is a hassle, but when isnt it when you are downtown. Always always a fun evening though. Let loose and have a night of laughs. Oh and insanely cheap treats and drinks are a big plus!

The OBT, as always, was great, family fun entertainment. I think even Hamlet himself would have laughed. Because the theater is downtown, parking is a challenge, but Trax stops right in front of it. The restrooms are not handicap friendly. They are in the basement down a long flight of stairs.

Its a great date night and if you go on a birthday you get free tickets.

We saw Little Shop of Horrors here on a Friday evening, and the performances were solid. I was a regular at the improv shows here about 20 years ago, and it looks like theater (already run down then) hasnt had much work done since. An infusion of some funds to upgrade the chairs and the stage would be welcome, but until then its a fun theater. Dont take it or yourself too seriously, and youll have a good time.

Love the shows here. They are very funny and entertaining with the perfect amount of audience participation. We look forward to each time we get to visit.

I loved this place. If I didnt live so far away, I would come here all the time! Its super affordable and fun! I saw the HMS Pinnafore, and the cast did an amazing job. For someone looking for a fun twist on a musical, or just some laughs, I would totally recommend this place.

The theater is really good size to see plays. The play we saw was really good quality acting & singing.

They seem like really nice people. They have the best intent. The audience really loves them, but I believe the audience was about 99.9 percent Mormon. This is definitely a theater establishment made just for Mormons. I got the perception that all the actors were Mormon, and 100% of the jokes definitely are. I did not enjoy it, but a good Mormon family would love it.

This play was called Downton Dead, okay lets see what the SLC theater scene has to offer...This play was for lesser of words; Austounding, Beautiful, Ingenious, Precisely Comforting, Wittingly Gripping, Chokingly Laughable, Refreshingly Creative, and overall Frekin Fun!!!Cast and crew of Downtown Dead, we are leaving SLC with loads of regret we cannot stay longer to embrace this wonderful culture and see what unique stories you will bring! We are going home to work, but always cherishing this special moment you gave in our hearts, thank you!!!

There is no place like the Off Broadway Theater! The owners have created a family of incredibly talented and hilarious humans, but they also foster and grow new talent.

Such a fun place. My family really enjoyed the improv comedy show. I appreciated the fact that is was for all ages. It was great that when something funny and unexpected happened, the performers would use it every once in a while throughout the performance, like an inside joke that just we and they were in on. The theater is a bit run down, with squishy seats, but it has charm.

This show was so funny! The actors look like they love what they do. Such a fun night with the hubs!

I have visited here about a dozen times for laughing stock. It is goog entertainment for a great price. Laughing stock comedy shows go from an A+ to a C+ range depending on the night. The place is a little dirty and looks like they are on a budget, but I always find myself going back.

Fun local talent with puns galore! We tried out a date night voucher which worked great. The show and it was light-hearted fun and would definitely suggest giving it a try when youre in the mood for something offbeat, funny, and local.

I love the OBT! I’ve been coming to it for years. I’ve seen a ton of shows, their Halloween shows are by far the best though. The improv laughing stock shows they do are great too! It’s a fun family place and affordable. The actors are funny especially Eric Jensen.

Wonderful community theatre with passionate actors. Great comedy in a friendly and informal setting. Clean and family friendly (PG rated material). The place is a little old and needs updating, but it makes for a homey and intimate vibe as well.

My little family loves this theater and it’s quirky charms! Affordable and family friendly. My 3 year old danced along as performers sang their melodies and my husband billowed with laughter throughout the show that we attended. We will be back- often!

Wow! We are from idaho and A lad and his magic lamp was our first off broadway theatre performance but it certainly wont be our last. The ticket prices were very reasonable and the cast was amazing, campy and entertaining. The inappropriate humor and ott moments were hilarious! You guys even had a little tune for the intermission! We were told that it was the founders 39th original script, which is nothing short of impressive. I heard my daughters belly laugh so many times tonight, I knew, without asking, that she enjoyed herself too. We would be sure to stop by when we are in SLC again. My only gripe would be that Yasmina was too soft and we had to strain to hear her speak or sing at times and we were in one of the first few rows. Thank you for the great show!

Ok, I’m sure on a regular night this place is fun. However, the night we went all of their bathrooms were out of order. Pre show they were escorting people around the block to a high rise to use the bathroom but that building closed at 7:30pm just when the show started. My wife and I bought tickets at the back of the theater on the isle because I would have to make a few bathroom trips mid show. But after 7:30 there were no more bathrooms unless you walked a few blocks to the gas station. Wouldn’t really work for me so we politely asked for a refund before the show started and were told no. It’s not even legal to operate without bathrooms and I want my money back.

Season pass holder for multiple years, we go as a family to every play and have a great time. We will bring kids as young as 4 frequently and they have a lot of fun too. Real family theater.
