Yesterday we attended a special performance to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month. It was such a lovely night. The first chair violinist was absolutely shredding it (a Rocknroll term for kicking butt), the cellist was awesome, and the piano was just so sexy. During the performance my soul would ride the gentle waves of harmonies. My Father taught me to love classical music. When he was young, he dreamed of becoming a classical violinist but soon realized hed make more money becoming a Mechanical Engineer. Nevertheless we listened to classical music a lot.During the concert, I kept on thinking of how my Father would have loved to be there too. And then he was, in spirit, when the song Estrellita was played. I found myself crying with emotion because that was one of his favorite songs. Thank you for allowing me to have a little bit of my Father back even if it was for just one night!

I love symphony. The music is great and the musicians play extremely well. The cost of tickets are reasonable and I think its worth the price.

Please attend performances by accomplished musicians as well as touring musicians from out of state. The symphony adds so much character to downtown Salt Lake and gives outstanding performances. A colorful Chihuly sculpture is found in the lobby and the building is beautiful. It is nicely located near Temple Square.

The Utah Symphony is an incredible experience and a great asset to our state. They play a variety of music genres and I am always impressed with their talent. I started bringing my children to the matinee shows made for kids in mind. They are shorter and perfect for toddlers with the wiggles.

How exhilarating it is to experience live orchestral music! As I listened to Tchaikovsky’s “Pathétique,” I felt like I was inside a great musical instrument comprised of the audience, attentive and trying to hold still but occasionally letting out a cough or emotion; the black clothed musicians and conductor, creating the main sound; the black lines of the lights overhead, illuminating the movements of the performance; the red and golden tones of instruments; and the great hall itself, also a vibrant golden yellow that houses all of us, together. It is a beautiful space to enjoy beautiful sound. Also, the Program Notes written by Michael Clive are visually descriptive, intelligent, and human: a good mix of of realism and humor.

Had the great opportunity to see the final dress rehearsal of Utah Opera/Utah Symphonys The Little Prince. The performance was absolutely spectacular and the entire experience was great! The performers, director, customer, hair and makeup and the rest of their team did an outstanding job!  The theatre staff was friendly and knowledgable which also made this experience great! I cant wait to visit The Capital Theatre again and another performance by the Utah Opera and Symphony!

I took a friend to see a Mozart and Brahms concert this weekend. I love to get dressed up and do fun holiday things during November and December and this was a perfect night for both. There were a few guest performers who sang with the Symphony as well as an entire choir from the University of Utah. They also had a guest conductor who was so much fun to watch. I am not an expert on classical music by any means, but the programs at the Utah Symphony always do such a good job of explaining the music and helping a novice understand the context and what to listen for. Abravanel Hall is a community treasure and I just love any excuse to go there. A great night all around!

Ive been going to their shows for years, and they honestly just keep getting better and better. They have a wide variety of programming, so everyone can find something. Some years we go more traditional, some years we try newer modern pieces, and this year we are going to watch movies while they play the soundtrack. They always deliver a great performance. Highly recommended

The Utah Symphony was absolutely spectacular. The music was high-quality, the hall was beautiful and spectacular. The Acoustics were absolutely phenomenal and even though I was near the back, I could still hear every sound very distinctly. My experience there was a magical one that I will never forget. I would highly recommend this for future classy events if you want nice night out on the town.

We love the Utah Symphony. Abravanel Hall is beautiful and we love how much variety the Symphony has in terms of their performances. They have a movie series where they preform the soundtrack, they do kid shows, bring in famous talent from all over the world, and just honestly leave me in awe every time. We love the shows that include dancers performing with the symphony too. There is just always something for everyone at the Utah Symphony.

We have been to two performances by the Utah Symphony. HP and the Chamber of Secrets and HP and the Prisoner of Azkaban. During the first performance we were seated all the way at the top of the symphony hall, very back row. The sound was exquisite and we quite enjoyed ourselves. During HP and the Prisoner of Azkaban we were in row 15 and the sheer volume of the instruments shook the air around us and tugged us into the movie (the screen was much closer) so much so that I nearly forgot the musicians were there. Although totally different performances, seats, and music we always have been and always will be overcome with awe and gratitude at being able to experience the beauty and talent of the Utah Symphony. Many thanks to the director, musicians, theater, donors, and other symphony goers for making these truly nights to remember!

La Boheme was fantastic. The Utah Symphony did an amazing job of helping the opera come alive. The opera singers were outstanding. One of the singers had laryngitis, the back up opera singer did a fantastic job filling in and after a short time it was almost as if the actor performing the role was the one singing.

First time at the symphony last night !Was a beautiful evening for an event. Our show happened to feature the power house holiday vocals of Lianne Rimes. The venue is conveniently located by a train stop, and the city creek center, making parking easy, or if you fancy taking the train into town, you don’t have to walk very far. Order tickets over the phone was super easy and every employee we interacted with was SO nice and helpful.Cons.... the tickets I had were orchestra, but I didn’t realize how far back they were.... we were so fAr from the stage that it really takes you out of the experience. The sound was not that good and with all the rude and obviously uncultured people back there talking through the show, it made it very frustrating to try and hear the incredible talent that was performing . I definitely suggest Going to the symphony for a night out to anyone... just be prepared to know where your seats are, and take a lesson in symphony etiquette!! I can’t believe how rude, and disrespectful some people are! I learned how to be quite during the symphony when I was 5. If I can do it you can too! Would have been 5 stars but the rude people talking just really put a damper on what would have been an otherwise magical evening.#Organicad
