Bring your 4x4 ifs its been raining. Cool little spot. Go shoot some waterfowl on the river and go hit the beach. The salt lake gets a good variety of birds.

Beautiful piece of coast, and in comparison to other nearby beaches, this one is barely touched by human feet. Flawless sand dollars everywhere.

Combining the river loop and beach trail creates about a two mile walk. The parking area was difficult to access due to muddy conditions. The beach area is quiet and pretty. I bet this area would be more fun with a guide to point out the bird species.

This is a quiet out of the way place where you can walk the trails with views of the Salinas River and a salt marsh. Depending on time of day and year, you may find interesting wildlife. Because the place is accessed via a dirt road (just a short way off of paving) and because it is in an area that is not bustling with anything but agriculture, it is normally quite empty and peaceful.

If youre ready for a nice long walk, its very nice . The views and solitude, are relaxing.

Gets 5 stars for the sunset, variety of birds, and flowers but 1 for accessibility and maintenance. Im guessing not many people visit because getting to the park involves driving through some really bumpy dry dirt mud road in the middle of strawberry fields. Then once you do find it I thought it was closed but if you look close enough there is a small open entrance for people but hidden by the overgrowth of weeds. Then once you do get there its like another mile walk to the beach past the salt marsh lake.

This is in response to the reviewer who did not like the fact the beach is closed to dogs, yet chooses to ignore signage and break the law. This is called a Wildlife Reserve for a reason due to sensitive habit and nesting birds. There are plenty of other dog friendly beaches/dog parks to bring dogs to. It never ceases to amaze me how some irresponsible dog owners lack the sense or sensitivity when it comes to the wild creatures we share these open spaces with. I guess it is the selfish, uncaring world we now live in. I wonder if someone came to their home and trampled around their yard or put their dogs welfare at risk, they would not be quite so cocky about their actions.

Only getting three stars because #1. Dogs arent allowed... (but who cares. My dog loves it here and ill gladly take the ticket should i run into DFG..) #2. No trash cans... Good for hiking, jogging etc and beach is good for fishing in good weather. Watch the tides!

A little bit of dirty road and youll be at the entrance. Take some time to one trail to the beach. BTW, it is free entrance and free parking here!

Parking is a little sketch, other than that great place when other beaches are packed.

Today I went for a walk down the Salinas river near the ocen. I sat down the river to enjoy the view after I came home from the river their were ticks over my body! They should have a sign telling us that their can be tick. Now I’m really panic cuz I have bites of them. Please let tourist know that their are Ticks around the area so we can be awear Thank You!
