La Chocolatera has at least 2 meanings in the local terms. Its a feeding place where you may buy and consume some food (you may need to buy water there). Its also a popular name of the peninsula tip with a number of miradors (lookouts). You will, actually, be looking for those. You may spend an hour or more there watching and photographing ocean waves lashing mighty rocks which makes spectacular views.

I very nice park at one at the Western tip of Ecuador. There are several places to take pictures. With the right ride and waves there is a blow hole where water shoot into the air.There is beach access. However, few people enjoy this beach because of the waves.There is no cost to get into the park.

This place Is really worth the visit! Some breathtaking views of both the ocean and the Salinas skyline. If you go right before closing time, you can stay to see the sunset.

Not a great deal.....If you like to watch the sea and rocks, that is your place, otherwise, not a interesting place. Probably if they make a nice restaurant and a hotel will be more appealing to go.

One of those places you just need to see with your own eyes. Untouched and beautiful. Ocean in all directions, fresh air and very few people. Highly recommended.

La Chocolatera is part of 3 viewpoints within the military complex, called the FAE. Don’t be intimidated to walk or drive into the military base. It’s open to the public during the day [till about 5pm]. Within the base is La Liberia, El Faro and la Chocolatera with a small, free museum. Every point has it’s clean toilets. La Loberia is like an open zoo. The sea lions (lobo marino) come to this rock to mate and have their babies. Beside this, La Loberia is also a great surf place. Surfers from all over the world enjoy the waves there.

If you are ever in Salinas, Ecuador go here. The view is amazing and you get to see some history since its inside a military base. Plus its free. Also you get to see some really crazy waves and this is definitely a photo spot. . One more thing bring a jacket/sweater because those waves are crazy for a reason.

Great place to visit, unless you are disabled, they do provide disabled parking and there are some ramps, the toilets are one accessible to wash your hands, and the trails are very rough. There is a restaurant and souvenir shops, the place is run by the department of the Environment, they are helping to reduce the impact of tourists.

Amazing views! Its a little tough to get to. Most people going to Salinas never go here. You have to pass security and tell them you want to go to the chocholatera. Theyll let you through without an issue.

Most westerly point of Ecuador. Pass through Gate into military area. June-sept whale watching

We took a.3 dollar cab and saw whales from the observation area. Boats charge 16 per person to see this and they were just offshore. Very worth a visit.
