They say they are open so you go ahead and plan for a picnic and you arrive there and the park is closed!!!!!! What is this Toro park? They need to make sure that the hours are accurate because it is an inconvenience especially if you have to travel 30 min plus......
Great place for multiple activities. Had a great time exploring the mountain bike trails with my buddies. Met great people along the way. Definitely recommend a visit if you are in the Monterey area, and are looking for a place to escape with the family or solo. The higher you go the better the views get. Just amazing what the world has to offer. Get out and go see it.
Nice, clean, and accommodating park. Currently using as a base camp for the large scale fires in Salinas and surrounding areas. Stay safe everyone!
Great place to get a hike in and when it opens after the COVID-19 stuff it will be a great place to have a BBQ
Beautiful park clean and well kept grounds.
IT is a beautiful place to socialize and exercise with plenty of open space and trails to choose. Im so sorry and disappointed that the park was closed to the public. The President Trump and TV is suggesting to exercise and keep walking keep moving how is that possible if they are closings areas like this one
BEST park ever!!! There is many trials to go hiking and its a very fun park I brought my dogs last time and they had a blast.
Want a good hike? This is the place to go. There are several different trails depending on your desire of difficulty. Also the ideal picnic spot for birthdays, family reunions, etc.
The staff at the gate were friendly but not knowledgeable about the park. Parking is $8 for day use, and there are a lot of barbeque areas and restrooms near the park entrance. There is no shortage of hiking trails for all skill levels. My issue was the maintenance of the trails. Many of the paths were overgrown with brush, or had large ruts and loose sand, which felt dangerous on a 30° slope. All in all, it was a nice way to spend an afternoon. Would recommend!
Beautiful weather today. We did a 10-mile hike to Blacks Peak and around. It was perfect, quiet and for the most part well kept up. Definitely a steep return around Ollasan trail and Toyon Ridge.
Big open park with several sections. There are bbq pits and playgrounds for the kids, its great for the family. We have has several get togethers here and its really nice. Good hiking trails are also availble, but be aware that there is animals around so hike responsibly. Also bees can be an issue depending on the time of year.
Perfect for many family friendly and pet friendly outdoor activities. I personally enjoy hiking.
Easy trails; bathrooms are still closed.
This park has pretty much everything you can think of. Great location - right off a freeway. It has a nice formal side (seems to be getting crowded sometimes) and a huge wild part. Trails, hills, trees, water features - you name it. You have to pay to park inside, but there is also free street parking outside just a few hundred feet away.
Love running and hiking here. Wildflower is so fun to chat with.
Back issues kept me off the more difficult paths but.it was a beautiful spot and had easier paths as well.

Get place to hike. Variety of hike lengths and levels.
My cousins family was takin pics on a cloudy day so it was perfect so that the sun didnt show n i told them that it was like they designed it to be for takin pics lmao
Not worth it anymore if you just want to go on a simple hike, walk or bike ride. No bikes, walk-ins, or dogs are allowed without paying a $2 fee. I would suggest other trails.
Nice park, great place to exercise and clear your head
This is a really nice park. Plenty of room to run around and play, dog friendly, and pretty well maintained.
We were in town for an event and wanted a hike nearby and found this terrific park. The trails are plentiful and since its spring everything was green and gorgeous. We hiked about 5 miles up the hills and were rewarded with beautiful views of Monterey Bay. There is an entry fee however its only $8. There are many picnic areas and open areas for gatherings at this park as well. Good mountain bike trails here also.
Great for exercises and fun with the family
Dirt is prime but the park is closed beginning 4/11 (covid)
My favorite place
Ran a spartan race here 2 years in a row. Gorgeous views and good paths for hiking or running. Hit the peaks for some good Monterey hills sights.
Very relaxing place. Great for a picnic day.
My kids love this park, hiking and big areas to run around and play. Good place for bbqing
So I started hiking recently and this is such a family friendly place to hike. It’s very hilly and if you like to challenge yourself then this is the perfect place! Highly recommend but you have to pay to enter for parking.
A great place to walk for exercise! The park is very nice!!!
Such a beautiful place to go for a walk, run or hike. You have so many options and the scenery is beautiful. Come at least twice a month.
Love the view and lots of trails to hike. I come every year for the spartan races and its one of my favorite venues
Not exactly Monterey, bit nice course with sharp hills
Great for a small hike.
Great place to hike and have a picnic or barbeque. The large grass areas can be reserved for private use.
Its a nice place to play.
Love the out doors and how big the area is, the only thing I dont like are the wasps!
Hands down the best local hiking area for elevation change. I wish everyone would pay some sort of entrance fee and not park outside; perhaps the county could lower the rates and make it a nominal per-person fee instead of the high $8 per car. The park needs our support
It was a great place, I went as a group, a great place for BBQ and and hikes, nice scenery, trees that you can climb.
Place is a joke! Use to be a great place to have a moring walk, but like everything else in the county it never last!! 2 dollars per dog and per person!!! Funny how they only question law bidding citzen and the ghetto trash they are afraid to say anything to. County workers must get training from our local law enforcement... lol sad!
Attended a catered birthday party here. Great location that is easy to find. Lots of grass and big old shady oak trees to stay cool under. They were particular about noise from the bounce house but didnt mind the speaker system. Great venue for enjoying a picnic or holding an event (as long as you can start the paperwork months earlier). Overall had tons of fun.
Have to pay a fee unless you can find parking out front. Big and open.
Great place to spend time with family members and friends, I like to go for a hike a lot as well since it has high mountains and a lot of space to go for a good run. When youre on top of the mountains you also get a great view, which is amazing to watch. Mountain biking can also we an option but you have to be careful. Have fun and be careful.
This is a beautiful park. I was there to run a Spartan race, but would like to visit some other time.
Great place to hang out with family
The archaeological site woke up the anthropologist in me. The similarities with Kalinga customs and architecture was also much apparent. There was an interactive museum for children and children at heart. It was just small but the activities were all interesting and a good introduction to how life was lived during the Yayoi Period.
Fun place to have a gathering . But lots of bees.
I love coming to Toro park to do trail running! Theres so many different trails that you can choose from. Not only that but they also do have picnic areas to have barbecues for parties or gathering. During summer it can get really hot here so just be aware of that:)
Its a great trip for family
Beautiful views and usually sunny while the bay is foggy
This place is pure memories from when I was a kid of course its changed no more huge slide that was one of the things as a kid you always wanted to do again no matter how many steps it was to get back up to top .Nice place to have a family picnic.
This is a nice place to visit. There are BBQ pits in case you want to make some burgers and kids areas. Nice big trees.
Somewhat picturesque, mostly flat though in the main part, but green lush grass, with huge sculptural oak shade trees and a several large picnic area for group gatherings. The best part though are the trails up the mountainous hills. Moderate climbing but worth the views and quick change in terrain from the flat level grass park
The best place to catch poison oak. Seriously, if you hike here dont wander off paths and dont touch fauna.
Great place to just loose the stress away
Happy Easter took the big wheels 3-4 miles
I love it,is really good caffe, and good people!!
Pretty, has lots of picnic areas.
Too many yellow jackets. Be careful.
Great place for family gatherings or just a picnic or outing
A nice park to have a picnic.
Great family place for BBQs and hiking.
Beautiful views, good shade, and plenty of things to do for the family
Pretty, quiet. Great place to walk.
This is the place to get your hike on! Beautiful and spectacular trails and if you are challenged enough... go to Simas Peak! This is one of my favorite hiking places in the Monterrey county!
Toro park is an Amazing place to hike with many trails to choose from. Spend the day playing baseball and barbecuing or lounging in the meadows. There’s plenty to do and a lot of fun to have.
Good place for a walk and to get away from the hectic work place
We liked it a lot...Spartan Race was awesome!
Parking is limited on weekends. Sometimes you will have to park outside the gate.
It is an incredible gift to have a park like Toro County Park only 10 minutes from our home. Our family has been walking, hiking, and biking here for many years. We have regularly seen deer, wild turkeys, birds of prey, bobcats, and other wildlife. Now we are enjoying the lush green hills and abundant wildflowers after years of drought. We are so lucky!
A great place close to town to go hiking or just a easy walk around the park. A lot of community events are held here throughout year. Tip- You can park along the road out side park and save on the vehicle entry fee.
Had a great run
Nice little getaway for a birthday party / outdoor event. Baseball diamonds, Frisbee golf, lots of trees and grass and trails. Beautiful. Parking is fierce, though - many people just park outside the gate and walk in (Parking fee is $10.00)
Absolutely love this place.
Beautiful scenery, grassy areas, hiking, and BBQ areas. Its a great place for family fun,
Nice hiking trails right in your backyard
We have a Cross Country Races there, its beautiful. Trees every where. They have play grounds for children and a ton of hills for people that are into fitness or enjoy some exercise.
Good time except for these wasps!!!
Awesome, beautiful place to hike.
A great place to run.
Great park for family activities. Hiking, baseball, volleyball, basketball, or soccer they have options for everybody. They have a small nature center at the farthest point from the entrance. You can grill or have a picnic here, no problem.
Great for parties and great to hike and walk. Enjoy fresh air and nature.
Was here for a cross country.meet. Beautiful park. A bit dusty on the trails.
