Sarah was a spectacular guide. We went midweek in the first week of October to avoid crowds, and there was rain right before the tour, so the streets were pretty much empty. Everyone in our tour kept their masks on and was engaged and asking questions and participating. This is because Sarah did a stellar job, her stories included great details, lots of information, good sourcing and references, levity and jokes when it was needed. She also offered some great food recs!The tour is historical, and that information is so valuable, interesting, and pertinent to life now. I would recommend this to anyone interested in Salem at all! The content is a little dark, but valuable for kids learning American history as well as adults.

Such a great tour! The guide was extremely knowledgeable and sited his sources allowing us to learn more if we wanted to (which I really appreciated). He truly made the history come alive. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable. Hes a local witch and had a plethora of sources that he cited. He made sure to tell us a little bit about each victim at the memorial to humanize them which I appreciated. This isnt a ghost tour, but was exactly what we were looking for! An amazing 2 hour walking tour of story telling!

This was an amazing experience. If you are interested in the history of the Salem Witch Trials which includes stops at various key locations, this is great. Learned a lot about that time period and a lot about the girl story of Salem before and after the trials. Only regret is we did this before leaving instead of making it our first stop.

This was a great tour!!! Well worth it, alot of history and facts are covered with cute quips thrown in. They were wonderfully accommodating with me being hurt and having my fur child with me! Next time I have friends or family visiting we will definitely do this tour again.Both of the guides answered local questions as well, such as where they would recommend finding bites to eat or places to see.

Historically accurate, well-researched, thorough, and not at all gimmicky. Sarah was a fantastic and energetic host! There are even places to sit along the way on this two-hour tour and source citations on their facebook site.

The history is sad, but it’s important to know about and is much more informative than what you learn in school.

This was one of the best historical tours Ive ever experienced. This is a must for anyone visiting Salem and wants to get a better idea of what happened centuries ago. I would easily do this again for a refresher.

This is the tour you want to be on! Sarah gives an incredibly informed and fascinating overview of Salem’s broader history as well as the Witch Trials. She does a great job of providing context for the trials and humanizing the victims. It’s clear that she knows her stuff, and that the company puts a lot of time and effort into creating the best tour possible, without the cheesier gimmicks some of the other tours use. Can’t recommend it enough!

As someone who enjoys history it was a great tour; very informative and you could tell the guide loved it (always a bonus). It didnt hurt that we lucked out and had a small group, which really enhanced the experience.The one thing too that I loved is that it wasnt just about the ghosts, it was the history. Yes, the tour guide talked about ghosts and encounters, but didnt ram it down your throat. Instead, she gave a full bodied picture of witch trial history and its effects on modern Salem; coupled with more recent events and history. I loved that.Finally Im not saying there were no ghost stories, my fiance (who loves that kind of stuff) was equally enthralled and impressed by the tour. Overall, I cant recommend it enough.

This was my second time in Salem, and this time instead of the museums I opted for a walking tour. This was one of the more popular looking tours and it definitely did not disappoint. Sarah was a fantastic guide! She was incredibly knowledgable and also made the tour as light as possible given the sad history that goes along with the witch trials. Would definitely recommend to anyone interested in learning the history from a historian at a great price!

He knows so much about the history of not only Salem but this whole era in the eastern US. I just took this tour and there are two things that must be mentioned up front. 1) It is not a ghost tour so if you are looking for that kind of experience, this is not it. 2) It IS a history tour that is so detailed that it is better than any ghost tour you could go on. Jeff has studied documents in an amazing depth so to provide the most accurate experience possible. He makes sure to note what is his own opinion and why he came to those conclusions, usually siting documents as well as trends in societal issues. The tour is two hours long and I was enthralled the entire time. Jeff is also very protective of the monuments and even shoo-ed away people trespassing in a historic graveyard during our tour. He genuinely cares about what he is talking about and it is a big part of what makes this tour the best in Salem.

Went with a few of my friends who are from out of state and we learned so much! Jeff was amazing. He knew so much about the history of Salem and told the story of the witch trials with flare and incredible detail. Jeff also pointed out his favorite food spots along the way. Brought my sister on the tour as part of her new England adventure. Definitely a must-do activity in Salem. Jeff is incredibly knowledgeable. Hes great about sharing straight facts and differing ideas/ interpretations of what happened and why. He makes sure to let you know when hes sharing verified information and when hes providing his own color commentary.I really appreciated how he humanized the events and the people involved. These werent characters, they were people with hopes, dreams, and fears.People are messy, so understanding history is too. Jeff does a great job helping attendees sift through the mess to find a new understanding of the events, how they shaped Salem for centuries, how they shaped the world. Jeff allows you to look in the proverbial mirror to assess who we are today in light of who we were in the late 1600s. He leaves you with the opportunity to take this knowledge with you to help shape your own world and to hopefully make it better.(The tour includes pointing out restaurants and shops and other sight seeing events, if you like having insights on where to go while in Salem. Those instances in the tour could feel a little like a commercial break, but it didnt detract from my enjoyment)

I think we hit the jackpot on having Jeff lead the way with our tour. Hes born and raised in Salem and not is extremely knowledgeable about every historical detail, but is obviously passionate about the history of his own backyard. He went above and beyond telling us about the true history of the witch trials, as well as the general history of Salem, and the hardships and lessons the early settlers endured.Plus Jeff was just extremely personable, friendly, patient, and you can tell he loves what he does.If youre looking for a true historical tour (and not just a haunted tourist trap), my husband and I recommend this tour without hesitation.

We were a group of 8 - four adolescents and four adults. We chose this tour to learn about the history of Salem, MA. Our tour guide, Jeff, was extremely knowledgeable and interesting. I kept thinking how much we would have missed had we not done this tour. I heartily recommend this tour.

The walking tour was great. The tour took place right down town Salem. Jeff was a wonderful guide who did a great job giving you information about the history of the city. Very interesting and was very happy my family took this tour!

I DID NOT ATTEND THE TOUR. Please realize my review is solely based on my experience with their staff/website. Their prices are okay and the staff were friendly. Be aware you must buy tickets ahead of time. The reason we didnt attend is because it takes you along the same walking tour as The Heritage Tour. So basically if you follow the red line tour (self guided or not) then youll be getting the same tour that evening with a couple extra ghost stories thrown in.

Jeff was an incredibly knowledgeable historian with a deep love for the history of Salem, the town he grew up in. We all learned a lot and he kept our attention, from the youngest to the oldest. The two hours went by quickly. Dress warmly!

This is not a ghost tour. Which turned out to be great because I learned so much about Salem and the Salem witch trials! Jeff was our tour guide and he was most memorable! Actually, my husband and I went on this tour over one year ago and I still talk about it and remember how great it was. It is clear that Jeff is passionate about Salem and has great respect for the history there. I believe a tour guides approach makes all the difference. Not only will you learn about the witch trials in detail, but Jeff also provides fun facts about the town. I asked him after the tour if he could recommend any good books on the trials and he was able to do that for me.Our tour was wrapped up with a heartfelt statement from Jeff...essentially about love for one another. The sad (and embarrassing) history of the witch trials will make you question if we have learned anything from our past and if history really does repeat itself.(as a side note: While the tour is kid friendly, I think young children will become restless on this)

Our guide, Jeff, a local, referenced original documents and actual events in his discussion of Salem history while peppering it with groaning dad jokes and clever asides (its an extremely grim story without a little levity). He also provided pretty genuine recommendations for local restaurants and bars. TAKE THIS TOUR.... WELL WORTH THE $$!!! (dont let the cheesy occult/mystical/fantasy/magyckical store give you the wrong impression...Jeff is very well informed and fact-based with true heart for the illuminating a deeply troubling time in the citys history.)

This tour was fabulous! Jeff is so informative, professional and engaging. He weaves together a tale of historical facts, legend and well researched speculation. He really paints a vivid and detailed picture of what the town of Salem went through, the roles that were played and the terrible outcomes of the strange behaviors, accusations and greed during the witch trials. I very highly recommend Jeff and his Bewitched After Dark walking tour if you are looking for more than a cheesy ghost story! This tour was so entertaining but without the gimmicks, witch costumes, loud microphones and inaccurate portrayals of how things really went down. Jeff also gives great recommendations on restaurants and other points of interest in Salem. This is more of a history tour but Jeff managed to keep us laughing, too!

My husband and I went on this tour on October 25, 2018. WOW!! Jeff was an amazing tour guide. A plethora of knowledge. I cannot say enough good about Jeff and the tour. He put an amazing perspective of what took place during such a sad time. His knowledge of each and every single witch that was tortured/killed was simply amazing. He also had vast knowledge of family members of the witches, including a couple of those of current day. His knowledge of witchcraft around the world in general was quite informative. He also provided a great amount of information about where buildings once stood in addition to ones that are still standing in Salem. Throughout the tour and after, Jeff made sure he was quite clear and heard by everyone in the tour and welcomed questions. I cannot recommend this tour and Jeff as a tour quide enough.

I’m local to the area and have been acquainted with Jeff for a few years from my various visits to Salem. I have been long overdue to go on this tour and I finally had the opportunity to do so tonight. Knowing Jeff’s background as a Salem native and resident historian, I wouldn’t choose any other historical tour. As a MA resident who has been to Salem many times, I can assure this one offers a ton of knowledge and detail that will entertain and educate audiences of regulars and tourists alike. Jeff is as authentic as you can get for Salem.

This tour was fantastic! I can not recommend it highly enough. If you’re interested in the morbid history of the area but don’t want a cheesy spooky ghost tour, check this out. What happened here is way more haunting than any supernatural campfire story, and Jeff recounts the complete, unsanitized history of the Salem witch trials in 2 short hours. Highly recommend!

Excellent! If you want real facts about history, our guide debunked a bunch of ghost stories and it was funny and interresting. Were french speakers and asked the guy if he could speak a bit slower and he tried his best and was super nice! Would recommand for sure :)

One of the best tours Ive been onTook the 7pm tour with Jeff. Great tour guide as he is very knowledgeable of the area, a great storyteller, and passionate about sharing Salem with each participant. The tour not only gives you detailed information on the witch trials and each witch, but mixes in Salem colonial history, ghost stories, 70s culture (bewitched statute, first witch shop, etc), wiccan religion overview, and even some great food/drink recommendations. Didnt feel scripted at all and really felt like Jeff could swing a block off route to cater to any groups personal interests as he knows the area so well.

The short version, it is a very detailed tour. If you want to know a lot of stories about the area and very detailed back story, than this is the tour for you.I gave it 3 stars because I felt 2 hours was a little too long. The majority of the tour could have been cut down to an hour in my opinion. Our tour guide was knowledgeable, but did not know how to read the crowd. We had some older folks who he left in the dust between stops, not sure if he felt he needed to walk fast but they had trouble keeping up. He also did not understand personal space and how his voice works. Regularly he would get extremely close to your face to emphasize the moment but the other half of the crowd couldnt hear him at that time.If I were to do it all over again, I would read up on the history and walk around myself. The three things worth seeing are the old Town Hall, witches house and graveyard. (Which our tour guide bragged repeatedly about spending the night in as a child). Majority of the places where things occurred no longer exist in town. If you really like shops and Halloween style souvenirs this is the place for you. It was a half day trip for us, easy to drive to from our hotel in Boston.

My husband and I went on this tour mid August. Jeff was a very knowledgeable guide who makes this part of Salems history interesting & accessable. We will be recommending histour to any family and friends who plan on visiting the Boston area in the future.

Jeff made me fall in LOVE with Salem! His tour is so informative (he even provides the court documents on the Facebook for anyone who wants to check his sources, which I loved, because it showed he really did his research). His well-placed, subtle humor made the tour (with very subject matter) very enjoyable. I feel like I learned so much information!! When we return to Salem next year, we are ABSOLUTELY doing this tour again! Its too much information for just one tour! Worth every penny!

Had very high expectations as it is so well reviewed. We went on a cold and rainy night and the group was really large. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable but in my opinion gave too much information. I was on information overload and could not absorb it all.

A MUST visit if you are anywhere near Salem! The best historical tour I have ever taken, even though it is not the cheapest tour, it is beyond worth it to spend the extra $5. Our tour guide was amazing and well educated about the history of the town. A combination of historical and present information! The time flew by and you will never lose interest!
