The outdoor atmosphere was lovely, people were friendly, and the music was great.
This house is incredible. It is kept in pristine condition, and it’s just crazy to glimpse into the lives of the bureaucrats of the past. I appreciate the VMHC opening it’s doors for us to have the opportunity to view it.
This place is very beautiful!!I definitely had an amazing time, the garden was beautiful, family friendly, and if you enjoy outdoors and are looking for a good place, well this is it..They have like a little mini zoo, with a bear, some fishes, and a few more wild animals.I highly recommend this park, weather you are looking to exercise or exploring.
I was not impressed with the house itself, but the grounds are remarkable
A wedding reception in this place, with those views: it was a spectacular evening.
What is better then visiting one Tudor house? Why, visiting two! After visiting Agecroft why not visit Virginia House? Good piece of history and just a wonderful house in a wonderful area of Richmond. I cant praise this museum enough.
LOVED< LOVED, LOVED this place. You must call to schedule a tour, but it is well worth the $6 dollars. Owned and operated by the Historical Society. The tour guides are extremely knowledgeable and share the information in conversational style. The history of the home is amazing and they story may make you cry. The home and furnishings are exquisite. Enjoy
My husband and I visited the house in 2016, it was fascinating and beautiful. Today 2019 I took my mother to see it and was told they no longer show the house .I was heartbroken
ITS NOT OPEN FOR PUBLIC TOURS ANYMORE!I should have read the reviews here and I would have learned this but I CALLED THREE TIMES AND LEFT A MESSAGE. NO ONE RETURNED MY CALL. At the very least you could have called and let me know Virginia House is not open for public tours. Fortunately Agecroft Mansion is next door and open for tours.Agecroft looks much better on the outside than Virginia House. VH looks run down and not maintained from the front. Fix your driveway and get rid of the chain ropes. Put up a proper gate worthy of what I assume is a beautiful house on the inside.Bottom line: this place is a dud and the people who run it could do a better job managing their online presence and contact information so people don’t drive our there only to learn it’s no longer open to the public. Again, thank goodness for Agecroft Mansion.
Like walking into Downton Abbey. So many nooks and crannies stuffed into one building. One of the citys remarkable homes; you will not be disappointed. The tour guide was great also.
Tried making an appt and leaving a message. Called a few times different weeks. Says it’s open but it’s not. Fix your hrs.
Beautiful museum/old house filled with antiques. Amazing views in the garden. Very nice restrooms.
My Wife and I got married here this past weekend. The venue is gorgeous! I had been here on tours as a kid and always loved its beauty. The staff is very helpful and friendly. There a lot of add on fees for wedding booking that are not clearly defined in the beginning but the venue to the, made up for it. You almost feel in another world looking out over the gardens. It truly is beautiful.
I attended a wedding and reception at Virginia House. The grounds are spectacular. The caterers food was excellent.
THIS SITE IS OPEN BY APPOINTMENT ONLY. THE HOURS LISTED ON GOOGLE ARE NOT CORRECT. YOU HAVE TO CALL THE VHS TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT....but definitely call and visit the house, its spectacular. Support the VHS!
UNBELIEVABLE! A must see!
As a DJ at an event, Kat and her staff were 5 stars. They not only made the wet ceremony and event Excellent for the Bride and Groom, but went out of their way to make sure I was all set and ready to go for the dancing events. I would highly recommend this as a venue!!Thanks again to the staff!!!
Gorgeous place!
What a disappointment! My wife and I also set aside an afternoon to visit Virginia House Museum, and discovered chains across the entrance By Appointment Only. Like the previous reviewer, I also found absolutely NO notice of this on their official website. Since I live in the Philadelphia area, it may not happen any time soon that I would return. PLEASE update your website!
Gorgeous venue.
Neat house. Gingerbread house making was great fun.
Great price of Virginia history, real must see
Spectacular view
Very historical tour
After finally finding this location I come to find out that the tours are by appointment only. Went back to search the web site and I couldnt locate anything that indicated an appointment . Perhaps as ever Im in Richmond again Ill try and see it
